EA Access News Post

The official EA Access twitter account today confirmed that the platform will only support six hours of Madden NFL 15 gameplay. Considering EA Sports Season Ticket offers Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users access to the game for three full days, this news comes as a disappointment for Xbox One fans.

Without a Madden NFL 15 demo, EA Access and EA Sports Season Ticket is the only way consumers can play the game early. Unfortunately, EA Access is exclusive to the Xbox One, which means PlayStation 4 gamers are left out in the cold on any early access period.

While EA Access certainly has its benefits with The Vault, the sports gamer looked at the deal as a no-brainer, since it offered early access to games. However, with time limits set to just six hours of gameplay, that could deter many of them.

While EA Sports has confirmed demos for both NHL 15 and FIFA 15, we would like to hear from the community concerning the six hour gameplay limit for Madden NFL 15 on EA Access.

Sound off!

I would not have bought it if I had known.
They made it clear out of the gate that there would be limitations to the time played though so it's nothing we didn't know.

I'm going to leave the discussion at this point though since I have to be up in about 5 hours. Please understand, I get the frustration, I really do.

All I will say is that at some point we as consumers have to accept responsibility for ourselves.

Blaming others is convenient but not always the only way to go. Sometimes we have to look in the mirror.

I really hope it all works out for you. Take care.

I agree with alot of people that EA access has enough value and worth to most at $30 a year. I am however not surprised at the outrage alot are feeling and am actually quite surprised by what EA has done with their announcement today.
To me there is 1 of 2 things going on.
1. EA said limited time trials was something EA access was going to do. EA figured people knew that, and then went about releasing the 6 hour information later in the manner they had planned all along feeling the consumer had a rough idea what they were getting and all is good. if this is the case then thats some short sighted naive thinking. someone had to know there would be outcry.
2. (disclaimer that this opinion is based on EA season ticket was 3 days prior to release) I think its fair that a lot of people assumed, inclunding myself, that the EA access would not be such a dramatic drop from 3 days to 6 hours and bought the subscription. EA saying 5 days early sounds awesome and sells subscriptions. its really a no brainer IMO. My 6 hours will probably be used up on day 1 truthfully so why do I care if its 5 days early or 1 day early.

I will admit its probably my fault for not being a better buyer but I also feel like I was tricked. maybe I shouldnt feel that way but I do.

All in all however, ill live and move on. I do believe EA access is good and has honestly great value but truthfully I wouldnt have bought it other than for playing games early and I think EA knows that.

This begs the question, why did you buy something when you didn't know all of the details? It's been shown that EA stated that games would be available for a limited time. You have said that you assumed Madden wouldn't be part of that. Whose fault is that? I don't see why EA is to blame for your own lack of patience.

I disagree with how clear it was. There was some definite ambiguity in the releases that I read. However that ambiguity is what led me to wait to make a purchase until more facts were known. Glad I waited.

since I didn't read a lot online, I had no idea it would be limited since on the xbox to download it said nothing about limited. It said something about playing all weekend from the couch or whatever. Im only mad that its 6 hours since im off all weekend and will do that in one day. With my friends it takes 6 hours to do a fantasy draft lol. Im eager to see what they say about all the negativity. I only spent 5 dollars just for this game since I already had battlefield fifa and madden 25

I'm curious as to whether anyone has tried calling EA and complaining until you get a refund on your subscription? No idea if it would work, or if it's even worth it, but an idea for those who feel snake-bitten

Buyer be aware if you didn't read up on it or research it, even though they came out and said limited on their website, they were vague about the limited specifics.

There you go. Even if it's only $5, it's worth making a statement that you didn't appreciate how they conducted their business in this situation.

on the bright side this whole thing has made my desicion of which system to buy Madden for an easy one. I figured id be pretty involved in a franchise on xbox 1 by tuesday and not want to start over so just get it for that. I might as well get it for PS4 which is what I wanted to do in the first place anyways.

Six hours wouldn't be that bad, if the Access members would get the option to buy and play Madden 15 immediately (before the official release date).

It sucks, but I just purchased a month so I'm going to get my 6 hours and be done with the service. It is what it is and no amount of moaning and groaning here in this thread is going to change EA's stance. I understand why. They just need to be up front with their customers instead of being vague in their terms.

At least the 6 hours will give me just enough play time to make the wait until release bearable. With no EA Access or Season ticket, how many here would jump at the chance to play the game for 6 hours several days before release? I'd be all over it. Would probably cost more than $5 in gas to get to where ever the game was being played anyway. Right?

Yeah, now I understand why Sony said what they said, and did what they did when they did it...

Under a different service with a different name on a different platform. I don't think that people signing up for this saw 'EA' and got out their wallets.

I don't know for certain what goes on at EA but I do know how most major corporations work and in most the equivalent of the development team would have very little to no say in this, usually a decision that is made much much higher than them.

Except for a portion of the 6 million people that buy the Fifa game every year....

I actually bought quite a few games based on those that I wouldn't have otherwise.

I am a PS4 owner and love Sony but just out of sheer curiosity how does Msoft have no integrity over a decision made by EA?? Sony not wanting this service was most likely because they have a competing service in PS+. They had a similar feature on PS3 with 60 minute time trials for select games.

This post is full of laughs. Thanks guys.

I don't see how this is a surprise to anyone when it's been said for at least 3 weeks that you'd only get a few hours with the game.
