Grammy Award Winner Pharrell Williams to Curate NBAŽ 2K15 Soundtrack

Creative mogul and entertainment visionary to hand-select the most extensive and musically diverse soundtrack in NBA 2K history

2K today announced a new collaboration with internationally-renowned artist and producer Pharrell Williams to curate the most extensive and unique soundtrack compilation in NBA 2K franchise history for NBAŽ 2K15, the next installment of the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise*. The partnership brings together one of music’s most creative minds with one of the most successful entertainment properties of the last decade.

“It was a cool experience. I tried to curate songs that were diverse but yet still proved to be motivational to gamers,” said Pharrell. “It was important to me that the music complemented the on-court action of NBA basketball in NBA 2K15. I hope everyone enjoys it.”

A renowned visionary across music, fashion, and design, Pharrell has served as a pop-culture force since his days as a founding member of N.E.R.D and the Neptunes to his latest venture with multi-media creative collective i am OTHER. His work includes producing tracks for some of the biggest albums of the decade, such as Kendrick Lamar’s “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City” and Frank Ocean’s “Channel Orange,” as well as hit singles "Happy," “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke and “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk.

“Pharrell’s passion and reputation as a visionary producer and expertise from working with the NBA will be evident in the largest and most eclectic NBA 2K soundtrack ever,” said Alfie Brody, Vice President of Marketing for 2K. “We really listened to our fans’ feedback on how we could improve their experience from a music standpoint, and we’re confident Pharrell’s collaboration in NBA 2K15 will impress players as much as it’s impressed us.”

Pharrell’s soundtrack selections will be revealed later this summer. Follow @NBA2K on Twitter and use the hashtag #YourTimeHasCome for the latest NBA 2K15 news.

Good choice as long as he doesn't put "Happy" in the soundtrack and can we please get mroe than 13 songs gets a little annoying hearing the same damn songs over and over and over.

If "Happy" is on it, I will not buy the game.

If he puts Happy on there I will flip. Hopefully, he puts more Pusha on it.

Sidenote: Why does 2K pay these big music guys to come in but won't pay a legend to be put into a game?

Sidenote #2: I really don't like this cover. I think it should look like this:

So it's going to be a very commercialized track like the jay z track was. Wish they would get less hyped artist or dj because they usually get better songs that aren't commercial

Oh I know I could do that, I did that with blur lines as soon as I got 2k, limited 2k14 short play list even more, if it is on the game at least have a good amount of songs on the playlist.

You obviously don't know Pharrell's track record, let me give you a youtube assignment, view anything from the CLIPSE (Grindin)and Superthug from NORE. Then report back to me. I don't think the entire soundtrack will be like that but let's not act like Pharrell can bring heat, stop it.

Happy about Pharell making the soundtrack and the fact that it will be the largest soundtrack to date but if "Happy" is a song in 2k I WILL stab myself in the ears with the 2k15 disc. I can't listen to that song anymore

Ah, this thread will be entertaining - it's early and hasn't disappointed so far

Personally I like the music choice; Pharrel's one of the more talented and respected young artists/producers out there. He's produced for quite a few artists across genres so I think the soundtrack will be pretty diverse.

The cover shot of Durant I'm okay with, but thought they could've used a better action shot - or perhaps something showing more emotion (this means they've removed player emotion from the game!!! /sarcasm). Not a big deal either way

As far as people dissing the soundtrack ALREADY - it's expected. 2K had Kurtis Blow's old school "Basketball" for 2K12 and there were people around here hating on that. Not much 2K can do to appease some people at this point

Just like NBA 2k13 was pop?

I can almost guarantee that Grindin' in some capacity will be included. Whether it be the song or the instrumental.

Really!? Wow, didn't know. I didn't think he was in his mid-20's but didn't think he was 40 either. Oh well, he looks young - and young can be relative
