NHL 15 News Post

It was clear from playing NHL 15 (on PS4) at E3 today that the team at EA Vancouver still needs to optimize some things, but what was there had me believing in a lot of their new vision for the series. I got to run through several games, and the teams on offer include LA, New York, Montreal and Chicago. Producer Sean Ramjagsingh said that the dev team has “about a month to go” in terms of production. Still, while it was early, there was a lot of great stuff to see in this build.

I've been playing NHL 2k10 for the past 5 years with updated rosters. I've never been able to get into an EA NHL game. I'm hoping this one will be the one. I badly need an updated NHL game. .

For some reason I dont trust EA Sports to do a weapon based system mainly because the times they have done they've integrated it with an attribute based system. If they want to do it correctly they have to get ride of spd, agi, str, slappower and number based attributes. It can work (NBA 2K series) but it always seems that ea gets too caught up in those attributes and it lessens the value of the actual weapons or abilities.

I agree that they need to make teams play differently instead of most games feeling the same. How do they do this? Maybe through some sort of coaching setting or strategy alignment. This is something most video-games struggle with except baseball, because that is a one on one matchup within a team sport.

Hopefully EA gets this right.
nobody has even mentioned the pathetic goalies for the past 8 years. All the warping and no look saves. Goalies should have been redone long ago. but as you mentioned theres even issues with forwards all being identical and gameplay being a disappointment.

Think at this point its time to just give up on this series. Its clear the team over there doesnt care for the hardcore fan. The casuals are the ones who buy this game anyways.

Damn show how 2k8 goalies are still miles ahead of EA. Just sucks the new techniques havent been replicated for gaming as 2k has left the game.

Thats what most 2k games strived for. Was playing 2k8 the other day and once hossa got the puck his puck control and balance stood out to me. he was a bull on the puck.

Im just more worried about goalies seeing attention...

The idea of 'weapons' is a great one! I'd love to see something like this get implemented.
If you don't have a weapon such as "One-timer", then that player won't have that option.

Looks great. Have not played any EA sports game on Next-Gen yet. Looking forward to this.

Its not that the ratings don't matter, it's that the EA rosters have everyone rated the same in all the key categories .......

One thing regarding winter classic which might be interesting to think about....

Not sure about PS4,but for PS3, using the roster tools that were available last year, maybe we'd be able to "unlock" past winter classic arenas and be able to play in them. I remember past teams/logos/jerseys were all hidden in the game and people managed to get them, so same might be case for NHL15 too.

I hope adjustable custom camera is still in the game...

other than the enhancements to the crowd not being there, what other enhancements won't make it to the gen3 (360/ps3) version? do we know yet? will the skill stick make it in? I'm turned off by the xbone, and ps4 still doesn't support mp3 music playlists, so I'm staying with gen3 for now

Is there any word if the new St. Louis Blues jerseys are in the game?

thanks, other question is, will the great devs who have worked on the editors, be able to hack the new gen saves for nhl15? hopefully the gen3 saves are the same format as nhl14 and previous so the editors can be used for nhl15

I would guess that they'll probably have the names and logos, but not the revamped interiors and lighting.

I wonder if the net will come loose as often as it does in 14.
