For some reason I dont trust EA Sports to do a weapon based system mainly because the times they have done they've integrated it with an attribute based system. If they want to do it correctly they have to get ride of spd, agi, str, slappower and number based attributes. It can work (NBA 2K series) but it always seems that ea gets too caught up in those attributes and it lessens the value of the actual weapons or abilities.

I agree that they need to make teams play differently instead of most games feeling the same. How do they do this? Maybe through some sort of coaching setting or strategy alignment. This is something most video-games struggle with except baseball, because that is a one on one matchup within a team sport.

Hopefully EA gets this right.
nobody has even mentioned the pathetic goalies for the past 8 years. All the warping and no look saves. Goalies should have been redone long ago. but as you mentioned theres even issues with forwards all being identical and gameplay being a disappointment.

Think at this point its time to just give up on this series. Its clear the team over there doesnt care for the hardcore fan. The casuals are the ones who buy this game anyways.

Damn show how 2k8 goalies are still miles ahead of EA. Just sucks the new techniques havent been replicated for gaming as 2k has left the game.

Thats what most 2k games strived for. Was playing 2k8 the other day and once hossa got the puck his puck control and balance stood out to me. he was a bull on the puck.

Im just more worried about goalies seeing attention...

The idea of 'weapons' is a great one! I'd love to see something like this get implemented.
If you don't have a weapon such as "One-timer", then that player won't have that option.

Looks great. Have not played any EA sports game on Next-Gen yet. Looking forward to this.

I don't think EA knows how to program a game where ratings matter and everyone doesn't play the exact same.

I feel all their AI takes place based on difficulty first and foremost with attributes have an ever so minor effect on how they play.

Its not that the ratings don't matter, it's that the EA rosters have everyone rated the same in all the key categories .......
