I guess I'm just another idiot complainer, but I was really hoping the textures in the PS4 version of The Show would get a massive overhaul. They stood out to me in PS3 version because everything else looked so great but I fear they are going to stand out even more in the PS4 version.
I didn't watch the second but the first video was impressive. Batter swings and you could see the dirt fly up under his shoe. That was cool.

Looks good, I wouldn't say i'm overwhelmed but definitely not under either. Looks about where I and assume most expected, excited to see everything in motion.

Noticed something nice. They have the patch for Hank Aaron's 715 HR 40th anniversary on the right arm of Jason Heyward. That's pretty cool there.

Not that it matters much, but my quick two cents: I doubt the guys who make the show only want to hear positive reviews, and certainly thats what a forum is for...debate and passionate conversation about something shared. That team would not invite members of this forum every year to sit and nit-pick every single detail if they didnt want to improve, and our feedback is just as valid...whether it be dirt or sleeves or beards. The reason feedback is getting more and more "nit-picky" is that the game is so amazing, the only thing left is the ridiculous details.

You know the difference between whining and constructive criticism? Its when you agree or disagree with the person. I don't necessarily care about the sleeve, but I would love dirt as detailed as the grass. Is one nit picking and one a valid point?

I can see that it gets annoying when its posted over and over, I get that. However, the squeaky wheel does get greased. As long as the company cares so much to hear our opinion, I am very glad there are people giving it to them. If its redundant or maybe not worded in a constructive way...I dont read it. (and they probably dont either)

ok, lecture over!
Here is what I found today...as per usual, everyone is 50% right and 50% wrong, like most things in life. Looking at the Heyward shot, there is a LOT that looks very similar to me. No question the lighting it better, but I can see the points about the catchers gear and some of the details, player models etc. If i look quickly and objectively, there isnt a huge change.

However, when I compare the Chen shots (and most of the night game shots)...this is where things get interesting. The face improvement is remarkable, but what really jumps out is the lighting for nights games. Reflective light from the field, highlights on the player and cast shadows from the overheads make this so much better. I like the improvement in the folds of the fabric, and they way the hat fits. Light and shadow cast around the stadium is much improved as well.

Honestly I was not blown away when I saw these...but the more I looked at the improvements, and the more I imagined them all together in motion, the more excited I am to see this game.
As MLB 07 The Show was the first version on PS3 I think it would be even more fear if you compared MLB 07 The Show with these new PS4 screenshots. Since we are talking about the very first version of MLB The show on PS4.

The dirt in PYS looks fantastic. Def need to get a hold of that game sometime.

Great heyward comparison shot. The lighting looks amazing.

One question for braves fans. are the numbers on your jerseys raised like that in real life? I notice it on a few teams jerseys but its most notable on the braves ones in mlb the show.

Very nice! Can't wait to see it in motion.

I don't know if many caught this who have been talking about the dirt being ported over in the game from the ps3. However, Woodweaver implied in a post earlier in this thread that the dirt has been redone for the ps4 the only thing they used to port over from the ps3 were the player model skeletons.

I have three Braves jerseys (Jones, Upton, Heyward). To answer your question: yes, they are raised a little bit. I think the game captures that perfectly too.

My god, all I'm seeing is complaining. I know y'all voice your opinions which is fine, but sheesh give some credit to these developers spending long hours making sure this transition is more than meets the eye for a first time next gen baseball game. If y'all don't like it, meet up and create your own game then. As a just recent college baseball graduate and someone who has been on a field since the age of four, this game looks tremendous. on par with what you would see when you play in a stadium game and I've had my many fair share of those.

Lolz one of my favourites. "Go and make your own game then " or "dont buy it then"

Read the last couple of pages buddy. Most people are just offering constructive criticism.

Back of the case feature in 2016. Can't wait.

REAL DIRT. Enhancements on the field now shows millions of dirt particles falling off uniforms and shooting into the air when players run out of the box and outfielders leap for a catch on the warning track.

edit: I should add that the above might sound like I'm poking fun at the dirt argument. I'm not. I really do think it would be cool. Just having fun with how SCEA would actually promote that, if at all.

LOL and when your player slides into a base, dirt comes shooting out the controller!

Keep that for the virtual reality experience when Sony drops that.

I think it looks really good on the PS4. My only disappointment is that the texture of the arms, face, and dirt do not look that much improved from the PS3 version. In that Heyward outfield shot, it looks like the jerseys might actually move now as the players move? Also, the lighting looks so great! Now the game won't look so bland (in terms of day and night games).

That had me laughing and still laughing as I write this. I bet people would still complain. They would be like I slid head first but no dirt got in my mouth. Lol
