R.B.I. Baseball 14 News Post

We haven't heard anything in regards to R.B.I. Baseball 14 since it was announced on January 14th. Nothing from their Facebook or Twitter page.

This evening Darren Rovell tweeted the game will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, iOS and Android devices on April 10th. There was no mention of Xbox One or PS4 release. Could it have been delayed or even canceled? Guess we'll find out sooner or later.

No other details have been released. In just over a month the game will be released and we have no details, screenshots or videos to go off of. They certainly aren't making a good impression.

I got it man, I haven't looked at any screens yet I just was going off of what I heard from the Podcast, so i figured I'd ask first. Thanks for the clarification.

Exactly...they really missed the $ train which makes me think that they are either:

A. Overconfident about how their game will perform in the market next to the Show and it's quick-count feature;

B. Afraid the game is not ready yet and they need as much time as possible to work out the kinks or

C. Overconfident knowing that at some point, most Microsoft-loyal baseball fans will break down and buy it with no other new choice on those systems.

The thing I hate about a game like this is that without roster sharing or an in depth trade system, the game becomes obsolete by the trade deadline. Can't stand digital sports games with old rosters like blitz and jam. The gameplay is still good but with no way to update rosters...

When they mentioned not having real teams, they were talking about 9 Innings Baseball, a mobile game, not RBI.

Hopefully, either EA Sports will bring back MVP Baseball for 15 or R.B.I. baseball 15 by Konami (based on Pro Evolution Soccer like graphics & AI settings including injuries) w/ Multi-Season Mode. That will give The Show some competition on a baseball video game similar to High Heat & All Star Baseball in updated version.
Soundtrack I would like to see if available in R.B.I. Baseball 14 are:
Airbourne - Firepower
Bullet For My Valentine - Breaking Point
Eminem - Survival
Katy Perry - Roar
Paramore - Fast In My Car
Phoenix - Entertainment
Smallpools - Over & Over
The Chain Gang of 1974 - Sleepwalking

I don't know why that April 10th date came up, but the official website does NOT advertise a release date. Furthermore, their twitter feed has been active with a rep answering questions and ev'time when asked for a release date he just keeps saying "coming soon" and "coming this Spring" and "hold tight."

Darren Rovell tweeted the release date a day before they released the screen shots and info

Other than xbox this game has no shot sales wise as they missed the pre mlb the show release as I know I would have bought it early but this game is so limited with late release date , old style graphics and lack of rosters , 1 2 3 strikes your out , pretty sad way to promote for 2014

Maybe they spent so much money developing great gameplay that there wasn't any money left in their budget to promote it...uh... probably not...

# 75 GnarlyKing @ 04/03/14 11:25 AM
Pretty much exactly what I expected. It could be fun. I'm going to wait for the Xbox One version though.

I really don't get why promoting costs companies so much money. YouTube, much?

Other than time and resources to put it together - you can spread the word for free with social media -

RBI Baseball 14 Release Date Listed on Xbox Live :http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/04/...d-on-xbox-live

Quote:
RBI Baseball 14 will be available April 9 in the Xbox Marketplace.

Polygon reported the listing on Xbox.com. Developer MLB Advanced Media - a partnership between the owners of 30 MLB teams - announced in January that RBI Baseball 14 would come this spring as a digital release for iOS, Android, current- and last-generation systems. It will be MLB Advanced Media's first console game.

The original RBI baseball, release in North America on the NES in 1988, was the first MLB-licensed video game ever; the last game in the series, RBI '95, was released on Sega 32X in 1996. Because developer 2K declined to renew its license for the MLB 2K series, RBI Baseball will be the only new licensed MLB game available for the Microsoft systems.

Will Leitch writes about RBI Baseball on Sports on Earth (which, it should be noted, is a joint venture between MLB Advanced Media and USA Today Sports Media Group).
