MLB 14 The Show News Post

Operation Sports reader tedus captured a few videos from his MLB 14 The Show hands-on in Taiwan. He also grabbed a couple of screenshots showing off the new front end, which confirms online franchise.

Below are a few of his impressions, after playing for 10 minutes. More info is sure to come soon, but until then, enjoy.
  • The field/batting camera changed!
  • Presentation almost the same!
  • Control felt good!
  • Base running animation felt some different!
  • Fielding felt more responsive

I don't really play online, but isn't online franchise a major wishlist item around here? Looks like we might have some winners!

Man I really like that menu layout. Looks like it'll be very easy to navigate.

I wonder if the PS4 version is released later if they will give you the $9.99 upgrade deal like they did with the other early release games.

I was a big fan of the other fielding camera, I'm not sure I like this change. Is the old one still an option to use?

Definitely liking the new menu layout. Wonder how online franchise will work. Wonder if it will be like Maddens online CCM mode where you can do things such as trades and player progression from your phone/tablet/pc.

Oh sure, The Show does it and it's the best thing ever. NCAA Football 14 does it, and everyone hates it.

Are community challenges going to be like NHL live moments or Madden moments? Or are they going to be challenges literally made by the community to challenge other gamers? I hope it is the former not the latter. A feature like nhl live moments in baseball would be very tough. They could have you earn points completing them (either repeating history or going against it). They could have a certain amount from last year and then update it each week like Madden does. I guess we can only wonder for now.

Personally, I "don't like it" as of this moment. It reminds me of most tablets and the Xbox menus. It will be "user-friendly" on Vita, but I like the linear look of things more than these tile layouts.

Doesn't make it bad, but I don't think this is any more streamlined than before.

But if it means anything, The Show seems to have done it better. Every tile is more congruent, within each tile are the options for that mode, and there is a bottom line to navigate to different areas of the menu. NCAA's is a bit off, and more like that Windows 8 crap that I despise.

Commentary and presentation.
FWIW.

I think we knew we weren't getting a complete change....but I'm SURE it is not the same.

Doubt(for '14) is putting it mildly.

Not only that if the game had relocation/stadium builder that would fall under an Owner mode most likely and from the looks of it Owner mode isn't on the menu.

That's not what he was asking, I don't think because it already says in the menu, "Challenge of the Week" and then elsewhere it says, "Community Challenges."
