It's not a slight - not sure why some are interpreting it that way.
It's just not "new." A lot of the good was always there. They added some great, smooth jumpers. Love that about the game.

I'm not taking it as a slight. I'm just saying that I like that they are going back to it.

It's funny though that upon release and the first few weeks thereafter, the Live team was being ridiculed for not taking Live 10 and improving on it, instead giving us Live 14. 
I played Live 10 over Christmas at my sisters house. This game is not Live 10 by any means. First guys criticized the game for not being Live 10... now its being criticized for"sharing code" with Live 10 and everything that "I'm" raving about was in Live 10.
I give up. Apparently all of the things that I enjoy about the game have already been done in another game, hell, probably done better in another game. You can easily see all that the game has to offer in an hour. Right? Thats right... because its Live 10 and we've played it before.
Whatever you guys say. I'll continue to enjoy my game.

and since we keep bringing it up, let's face it, there's a 99.9% the "other option" is coming out last year...we can't call that percentage for this game...so I think the focus should be on what NBA Live 14 can do better...not the fact that the "other option" has the same flaws or worse...that doesn't help this game at all...or matter quite honestly..

How do you guys feel about the distance in which "take offs" begin? Do you feel you have to be too close to the goal, or do you think it's ok as is?

Who criticized the game for being live 10?
I never said I wanted a rehashed game from 4 years ago to come out. That game is dated as heck so I'm not sure why anyone would want an old game. A company like Sony would be ripped to shreds for releasing a rehashed nba 09 with roster updates. It was fine for its time but not now.
We can all pretend this game is setting a bar on a new system with its built from the ground up stuff but it's not. As Pared said it's nothing new if you will. Whether that's cool or not to you is up for you to determine. It definitely isn't new though.
I've said several times now I see recycled code in this game and I mentioned elite and live 13 specifically. I don't see how you can misinterpret that

When you mention that the things guys are praising in the game (me) were already in Live 10, I just have to shake my head and give up on my stance that this game is NOT Live 10. I'll continue to give my impressions of the game to those who will listen and who are possibly on the fence to buy the game. I can name double digit numbers of guys who are glad that they read my impressions and are seeing the same things that I am.
To guys who aren't happy with it, thats cool. But to come into a thread and tell people that the good parts of the game were already in Live 10, that's where I disagree wholeheartedly. I'll leave it at that.

Man they said the 360 wasn't powerful enough for this game....something of that nature as the reason why they went nex gen only. Not that that's really true but that's what was said in particular to why it wasn't released on both gens.

I'm not going back and forth with you on this as you're too personally invested and I'm not sure why. I've seen a lot of the good and bad from the Live series in this title and I simply don't agree. A little more than an hour isn't much to form an opinion on for some but in that time I saw much of what I liked and disliked in Live from the more recent titles (Elite withstanding).
I did see some good, some bad and not what I would call a "complete" title (but at least it works!). That doesn't mean things they had in Live previously aren't there. And hey, it's basketball so it doesn't make sense to scrap it all. But the good didn't outweigh the bad for me. The game is shallow to me.
Oddly enough, I did enjoy playing the demo via remote play on the PS4. Wouldn't mind playing this on the go.
And I'm glad you're selling people on the game. That's the beauty of a community.

I played three games last night and got mixed results. One game I was totally blown away, in the next the gameplay left something to be desired, and in the last game I was content with the game. There are going to be highs and lows with NBA Live 14 as it's the first Live title in four years. But the game and franchise shows promise because they have several positive things going in their favor and most of all they are updating this game daily. I like when I feel a company is working to correct their mistakes. This big patch coming probably won't turn Live 14 into the greatest basketball title of all time, but in the long run a commitment to improving the quality of their title will pay off.

The graphics are definitely a hindrance.
Not many at all will look at the game and immediately think next gen. And I get that. I think there are issues in the game that definitely don't scream next gen either.
But I will say that for those willing to look past some of those issues, I think it plays a good game of basketball. Obviously you aren't arguing that I shouldn't enjoy the game I like. I know you aren't.
I'm not sure what code or issues are bothering you, but I won't argue against it because I know there's old code that bothers me about other games, and make them unplayable for me.
Live has a long way to go to be next gen. Even those that are enjoying the title can agree with that. But I'm liking where it is now. It was easy to point the finger at EA for a poor product or no product in the past. I won't do that this year. They are moving forward.

I purchased NBA live 14 a couple of nights ago. I must admit that the game plays better for me than 2K just because it's simpler. I also like the fact that it seems a little slower than NBA 2K. The one thing I am not seeing in my dynasty however after four games are fouls. I've seen some boxscores from WTF and noticed that he's getting a lot of fouls I just don't know how he is getting them. Maybe he will shed a little light on that subject for me.
Other than that I'm having fun with that. I'm using the Boston Celtics which are not a great team by any stretch of the imagination. So it is been very challenging.
I would like to thank you guys who have been posting their impressions and videos of the game since this this last patch that has made it better. If it wasn't for those impressions I probably would have not tried the game.

Something that I've found that helps in drawing fouls, is that when you're in the paint, and you know the defense is coming in for the block, after pushing the layup/dunk button, press the left stick in the direction of the defender, moreso drawing contact. I don't know if it's that way by design, but just pushing the analog in the direction of the defense has allowed me to draw just as many fouls as the CPU. Also, when the guy is set up in the paint for a potential charge, make sure you press away from the defenders body, one side or the other. I think the game reads it as trying to avoid the contact, and the defender doesn't take it "square" for the charge, resulting in a block a lot of the time.
Glad to see you're enjoying it. The foul game still isn't perfect, but I'm getting more with each game. I'm starting to draw contact on jumpers, etc as well, which is always a good thing.

I went to GameStop last night and went to pick it up and these idiotic sales people say this game is horrible and say 2k is better, blah blah blah
So I left pissed off and tried to buy Xbox gift cards with my GameStop gift cards on their site only for it to supposedly be invalid yet there's a balance on the gift cards, I think once I get done with the gift cards, I'm not doing business with them anymore, I don't need some idiots telling me what to buy, from now on I'm gonna buy my games either digitally or places like best buy where I don't have to be chastised buy numbskulls sales people

Do you have a Walmart or another retailer you can go to to get it? That's where I get my games now. Don't like to deal with people telling me about what games I should like or not like.
