The dribbling controls feel very sluggish and unresponsive, I can't seem to explode out of my crossover. Defense still feels very stiff.

But the pace was slow but nice, it flows well. I love the players size in relation to the court. They have a solid foundation to build on.

What the hell? I'm playing NBA Rewind: Lakers v. Pistons and this is who the CPU brought into the game:

His name is Point Guard. According to EA/Synergy, he is the back up PG for the Pistons.

The Grizzlies have the same generic "point guard" player on their team.

He shows up as a no name generic white guy #0.

I noticed him when I was playing a Memphis Live Seasons game.

LOL. That is hilarious. No clue what happened there but I certainly hope that gets fixed.

Well the game does update hourly,,.You sure Point Guard didn't sign with Detroit?

Anybody else that has the game, you notice a difference with Synergy DNA because I've played a few more games(Did Bulls/Knicks and Memphis/Detroit)and I still have yet to see more than 3 plays run and the majority being Iso ball?

# 47 jyoung @ 11/19/13 08:49 PM
The CPU mostly runs iso plays against me all game.

I played the Pacers, for instance, and all they did was let CPU David West isolate his man face-up from about 15-feet out.

That was basically the extent of CPU Indiana's offense.

Online Game #4

Bulls vs. Grizzlies in another slow-motion lag fest. Completely unplayable. What on earth could possibly be going on with this game online? This is worse than NBA 2K1's online on dial-up.

Yeah still a lot of standing around....I've seen the occasional shot off of a pick...but that's about it...a lot of warts left from Live 10 where bigs are acting uncharacteristically too...

Maybe there's not enough data...

If anyone thinks I'm talking crazy, just go look at Elite on Youtube from people who have an actual copy of the game. All they needed to do was polish that game and we would've had a solid basketball game by now. I honestly believe, and there are many who would agree, that Elite had the best game mechanics ever created in a basketball game and maybe all of sports. the control in that game was, ridiculously, impressive. Instead, EA decided to try and remake the game and just made it worse than it was. All this trash talking about bounce tech and we end up with this piece of garbage. What a disgrace. Not mentioning the graphics much because I don't really care about it if they had made a solid game, but even NBA Elite's player models look better.
From what I've seen this is Elite, just polished.

Don't try to make it out like Elite suddenly was a good game.
My point is that Live 14 looks like a good base but it's gonna take a couple of years for them to get this to 'all star quality
'.

The more games I've played I'm getting used to the pacing of the game. I agree with some users, it's a good base for EA to build off of. They have a lot of work on AI, responsiveness to the controller and animations but I can see myself enjoying this every now and then.

And maybe it's just me but the player models in the ESPN camera angle don't look too bad....its when they zoom in when it starts getting ugly.

Lastly because the pacing is different this is probably the first game I'll have to play 12 min quarters to get realistic scores.

It's moved up on my rotation to probably 4 now. Don't think it will crack the top 3 though.

Just curious but are there gameplay sliders in the game? I tried the demo early and didn't mind it. Thanks.

Haven't tested this myself, but looking at gameplay footage from Shakedown, it looks like you van still do an infinite stutter step without the ball touching the ground...kind of felt like this would be fixed with all the focus on dribbling this year....

# 55 Culture Rot @ 11/20/13 12:47 AM
total disappointment for lack of a better word

Yep. This is my only real disappointment. All the talk of Bouncetek, and the ball artifacts you have seen in every basketball games before are still there. I can live with it, but I was expecting not to have to live with it. So much for the groundbreaking feature.

Online game #5

Nets vs. Grizzlies.

This guy would just take Deron Williams on a full sprint from one end of the court to the other, turbo by my on-ball defender and dunk the ball over AI Gasol and AI Randolph, who would just stand there flat-footed every time.

Williams would occasionally run over one of my players, but the game never called a charge.

As usual, nobody could make a jump shot due to crazy input lag.

Terrible.

I haven't played the game yet, xbox release in Australia tomorrow night, but the impressions here are getting really ugly, and the game here is going to retail at $100AU so I'm gonna play the demo (just to say I did & I'm opinionated) and keep my 2K14 pre-order and play that.

I don't think this game will be any good for CPU vs User gameplay. The best production seems like Human vs Human play because that way plays will get called and and the gameplay will look much better with two humans controlling the action.

It's probably why they didn't even include sliders.

Something is wrong in Kansas. Many of you know, strong advocate of Live here. Not anymore. I'm done. I'll say Live 08 looks and plays better. No, really. PS2 Live was more fun than this. Good features cannot erase how sluggish this game is. And um, no game speed adjustments? Seems to play slow then when you go in for a dunk the dribbler gets an unrealistic brief burst of speed for that short instant. One button for shooting? Come on. Feels unbalanced or something. Defense is boring and just nonexistent. Dunking is fun. Horrible models and glitchy. Commentary? Just ok. Courts look good and fans. Cheerleaders? Look like ps2 girls. Needs a year or more dev time. 2 out of 5.
