I don't use the right stick a lot. Normally if I get an opportunity to swipe for a steal I use it. Just flick it towards the offensive player. You still can't move with your hands up ala old NBA Live's. I semi-wish that would come back.
As far as the spin move, I'm normally bodying them up when they're backing down using the Left Trigger, and also pushing towards them. You can either pull the chair on them (I've had it work twice), or flick the stick whichever way you "feel the defender" going. I'll try to take a screen grab of the post defense options. Also, if you're having issues defending the post, like I was one game, change your defensive options.
Pau Gasol was killing me, spinning this way and that one game. I couldn't stop it. So I went into the defense options, and started fronting him, making them pass over my defense. I set my defender opposite of the block to "Sag" off of his man, letting him rotate over a little easier.
If that doesn't work, throw a 2-3 Zone on them, and get them out of their rhythm.
Normally my help side D comes over as I force them to the baseline, using the baseline, backboard, and help side defense to help me.

My favorite part of the game is the strategy and tweaking how you're playing to help adjust to how they're playing.

Okay, it sure sounds like there is a counter move on every area that ur getting abused? I like that! I miss the strategic element in a basketball game, 2K dosn't have that.
I really don't understand the choice of not being able to move while having the hands up. Seems stupid, hope they'll fix in the coming patches.
How about synergy? can you guys feel it when playing? Is there a difference from day to day, with teams and stuff?
Oh and thanks for your time and helpfulness guys!

There are ways to combat almost everything in the game. I wouldn't say that you can totally eliminate the post play, but you can defend it very effectively. It's definitely strategy, no doubt about it.
As far as Synergy, I feel something most definitely. From the demo, til day 1 with the game, til now (3 days later), I've seen vast differences. Of course the sample size is too small to say, yes it's synergy. I found the initial demo unplayable. The 2nd time I downloaded it, I guess synergy was at play, and instantly felt better. Now when I play the game, it plays really nicely.
Guys who should be taking shots, are taking shots, WHERE they take shots in real life. They're not getting points just because the game feels they should.

I like that!
Well thats kinder what I want from Synergy. Players playing like they should, taking shot, drives ect.
I've just deleted the demo, and downloading it again to see if I feel a difference.
How dose the offense in the post play? is there multiple moves and counter moves? Up and under ect?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Synergy is working as planned by EA and it shows
All the warping we used to see I'm not seeing it. Is it there? I'm sure if I look hard enough but it's rare. Get position on a box out and YOU WILL GET THE BOARD and if the defense has bad position it's an easy put back and it should be
If I'm getting beat bad down on the blocks, I just start calling a DT/Help and it works and forces the CPU to kick it back out
The fundamentals are there/automatic without forcing it to do fundamental things. It's not pretty all the time but it works at times flawlessly

I've pulled off 2 nice up and unders. Im still learning how to work the post game. There are options, you just have to experiment. My first up and under, I was ecstatic. Ha.
I wish there was a practice mode for these things though. Definitely gratifying though, as to get it right, it takes skill.

Sweet, I like what I'm hearing so far! Is there anything in the game that you guys def don't like?
Yeah, the practice mode would be in handy. I would rather have them implement that then making the game easier!

Scoob, that's just a personal preference. If you can download the demo, and see "enough" to want more, then I say yes without a doubt. Once I started learning the game, I'm hooked on it. It takes me back to the original xbox and throwing on Inside Drive and looking past the jerkiness of the game.
I can't tell you how many times per game that I go into replay, just to see the fundamental basketball that happens. Normally on 2k, I'll go into replay for a highlight. This one, I'm normally going into it to watch a great basketball play, that normally ends in a highlight
In my eyes, yes, I wouldn't hesitate to get it again. But as you've seen several respected members of OS say, they need "more" from a next gen title, implying the next gen visuals.
While it would be nice to see the player models being more varied, and some of the players be modeled a little differently, it's definitely not what I "want" the most out of my next gen experience. This game is giving me great games, fun games, and games that make me sit back and try to figure out my next move, whether it be a key defensive stop, or how to put together an offensive stretch to work back into the game. It's worth it 10x over for me.

OKC. Omg they are beating the dog crap out of me. Durant/Westbrook is the deadliest combo I've faced yet.
And yes my 12 yr old son is right here watching again on his own. He out down his controller on his 360 for the 2nd time today to come watch me play this game again. Lol
The Thunder have come out BLAZING!!! 15/19 for the half. I'm losing 20-31. Durant has 13 pts on 6/9 and Westbrook has 8 pts on 4/5. I can't stop these cats and I'm loving it. If you read my earlier post I mentioned that I was gonna probably have to make the jump to All Star. That's dead now. My last game I got trounced by the Spurs and now this

What platform are u guys playing? And which game mode occupies your time the most?
I told you Flight. They were on top by around 10 earlier on me. I worked my way back with a mix of 2-3 zone and 3-2 zone. I personally put a chaser zone on KD, allowing PG24 to go rogue and I defended Durant myself. It left basically a 2-2 zone, keeping Russ out of the paint.
They ended up winning in Overtime, when they killed me by taking PG24 out of it in OT. They doubled him EVERYWHERE. I got frustrated, lol.
Best feeling that I've had.

I'm on PS4, and I've just been playing 1 off games. I've been waiting for some trade updates, and hopefully some accessory and jersey # changes before starting a Season. But it's been a blast just playing 1 off games.

Once they add a little more to the post game (off/def) I will be a happy man. Bums that have no offensive skill can spin off defenders and 99% of the time is a bucket. Shouldn't have to double Kwame Brown when Aldridge should be able to defend him easily.
But Zach Randolph taught Blake Griffin how to work in the low post. Put up 30 points and no bs, just good counter moves to everything I tried to do.
Auto play calling would be nice.

So, I decided to use the Knicks as my main Dynasty team. I'm a die hard Bulls fan, but playing with Rose just made me depressed, LOL. I really don't like the Knicks, but I've always loved Melo and I really enjoy playing with him in this game.
I lost my opening game to the Bucks (ouch) 84-68 on default All-Star with 12 minute quarters. I really need to get better on offense. Too many times I find myself having to hoist up bad shots with the shot clock winding down, thus my 39% field goal percentage.
Ilyasova killed me, going for 22-14 on 50% shooting. Butler chipped in 18, and he hit a couple big 3's in the 4th quarter that really broke the game open. Surprisingly, Larry Sanders had 19 points, though it took him 19(!) shots to get there.
It was no surprise that Melo led my "offensive" attack with 22-7-4 on 10-26 shooting. Sadly, he was the only player to hit double digits. I had 5 players finish with 8-9 points a piece. Clearly, I need to have a much better gameplan for my next game against the Bulls at the United Center.
What I liked:
- Playing at MSG is just awesome. It's even better that they have the license for it.
- For as ugly as some of these animations can be, they really did a nice job with Melo. I LOVE playing with him. Even his fadeaway looks nice.
- Rebounding. If you block your guy out, you will get the board 99% of the time if you should be. None of that cheese offensive rebound crap.
- The crowd was really into this game, especially in the 4th quarter when the game was close. Chants of "DEFENSE!" and shouting "THREE!" when I took a shot from distance, to go along with the organ music really immersed me into the game.
- Most importantly, the lack of CPU cheese! My only tiny complaint is the PIP being too high for my liking (get to that in a second), but I haven't once thought "well, here we go again" in regards to the way the CPU plays. The Bucks shot 47% from the field...and only 36% (4-11) from 3. Does the CPU even miss 3's in 2K?
What I didn't like:
- As I said earlier, the Bucks scored 56 of their 84 points in the paint. It wasn't as cheesy as it seemed to just be their gameplan, but I'm probably seeing this 3 out of every 5 games. If anyone is having better success with seeing less PIP, I'd love to hear what you're doing.
- I would just like to see a little more movement from my own team on offense. It's nowhere near as bad as the demo, but I feel like on a lot of my possessions, my teammates kind of stop moving with like 8-10 seconds left on the shot clock. I think that's why my shooting percentage and assist numbers are usually low.
I'm just loving this game overall, but I have A LOT of work to do to get better.

Man, that's a tough loss to the Bucks. Ouch. But then again, you are the Knicks.
I have been using a lot of different options for keeping the CPU out of the paint. I've been going to the defensive options and setting some of the better paint scorers to Front them. Drive them either left or right (towards baseline) pending which block they're hurting me from, and having my opposite block defender set to loose to "help" over quicker.
I've also had a lot of success switching to a 3-2 for a few possessions, then over to a 2-3. The BIG thing to be aware of though, if you control one of the top defenders near the 3, you have to "know" how the rotations of the zone work, and cover your rotation zone at all time. They will pick you apart if you're not. If they get the ball to the corner, your butt better be rotating down for help on the opposite block. It's my favorite part of the game so far.
The CPU has still been getting 40-45% of points in the paint against me thus far, but it's nowhere out of the realism factor. I think the highest PiP that I've seen is 53% in the paint so far. And I just broke down on that one.
