Madden NFL 25 News Post

Polygon has posted up some next-gen Madden NFL 25 impressions. The impressions are from a hands-on experience with the game. Here are a few things from the article:
  • Proper double teams and pocket formation is in this year's game. The pass rush is better than on current-gen Madden.
  • Fans are much better at reacting to events on the field, reacting to 40 different types of events on the field with different reactions.
  • Madden NFL 25 on the PS4 supports remote play on the PS Vita.
What did you think of the impressions? Anything stick out to you?

Several things that stuck out for me...

1) Those pictures were released to the media while they were being captured off of a PC, the game wasn't pressed on disc yet for the Gen 4 systems. While the graphics are not bad, those pictures are not whats in the game now. Think basically Ultra quality vs high quality on PCs

2) While there are both positive and negatives they could have mentioned, they just went line by line on what EA has released to the public over the past month. Not one new shred of info was presented, even though there are a few things they could have mentioned.
When is the embargo lifted? Man I wanna ask you so many questions lol.

It tells me i will take my time and wait for some videos to pop up about it and most likely buy the game when its cheaper

Gamefly or redbox might help. It's better than a full-time investment.

The title of this thread really needs to be changed. I get more cynical towards the Madden team with each passing day. No game play videos, more market department and PR nonsense...annoying. I'd have a better chance of scaling the fence at Fort Knox than getting some useful information about this title. What's the big secret!?!?!?!?! There isn't any competition!!!

I don't want to get a PS4 until there are enough games that I want in order to justify the purchase of the PS4.
I don't disagree. I know people have claimed they bought the PS3 for The Show only.

I'm only saying renting if you already plan on receiving a NG system.

With that said, off to my BB to play some FIFA. Our son was a HS soccer player and he loved it.

Just depends.
Just a quick request, I didn't do any instant replays to zoom in the camera on the players. If you get a chance today to play FIFA would you mind checking out the players and the field with the camera zoomed in and let us know what you think in comparison to the Madden screen shots we've seen?

you could always dl a demo. sony has gone on record saying the ps4 will have full demos for all games (most likely similar to the 60 minute full game trials they have on ps3). as far as player progression trade logic etc. just sim a season or 2 and see what happens.

So, for those that have played the game, would you say there will be more positive info that we should expect after the embargo is lifted tomorrow? Basically, should we expect much new information at all?

# 50 inkcil @ 11/12/13 04:09 PM
When will EA show gameplay?

I know someone who gets their console and Madden tonight, he'll be giving me details after the embargo lifts. Not sure if he'll be streaming or not, but I don't see why he can't.

I imagine anyone with the goods can show us what we want to see after that point.

Please let us know his opinions. I'm just curious. I don't even need gameplay because that is only a couple days away now.

"We saw receivers attempt to stay inbounds while making catches along the sideline, a feature Madden's developers have struggled to implement for years."

Wow, it's 2013 and they are still trying to get the simplest gameplay feature down. Bottom-line, we will never get a true sim football game. A game that is brought to life with real football player nuances, emotions, signature styles, authentic animations, etc. Real strategic football not the "Learn how to play Madden football" (there is a difference by the way). EA will always deliver the basics with the marketing hype feature of the year (which is normally over done), push the pile, run to daylight, infinity, locomotion, ignite, etc. Just never stops, but never really improves. So sad!

Since these items cannot be delivered and consumers are growing tired and angry, they have now resorted to hiding from us, aka closed marketing or imagery. "they will buy it on hope this year and we will promise next year"

I just got some hands on time with FIFA Next Gen on the PS4. This game is based on the Ignite engine (as we're all aware) and the majority of improvements for Madden next Gen are selling points for this game as well.

The actual gameplay graphics are improved but were not amazing. The crowd noise did not stand out either, I scored and the crowd noise went up but to be honest if I had not known this was an added feature it was not noticeable. Crowd looks decent during closeups but as some people already pointed out the first time the camera zoomed in there were a lot of the same characters doing the same animations.

The biggest negative I found were to be the cutscenes after a player scores, Madden has given us a lot of close ups of instant replays showing off skin sweat and all that good stuff. The cut scene's in FIFA looked like current gen. If this is any indication-which I believe it is- of what we can expect from Madden next Gen prepare to be underwhelmed.

One thing I forgot to add, I am hoping this feature is in Madden- after scoring a goal the celebration by the players from the default view was natural. The players did not stop and then go into what was a predetermined animation-it all flowed naturally which was pretty cool.

I don't want to get off topic but just wanted to say I played the FIFA 14 PS4 demo today and I respectfully disagree with most of this. I thought the crowd noise was VERY noticeable and the game felt and looked great. Now I do agree with the cutscenes comment after a goal, this bothers me in current gen as well but I always press X (Playstation) for a default celebration.

Again to keep this on topic as much as I liked the look and feel of this new Ignite engine, I am optimistic that I will like the feel of Madden as well as far as player movement goes (Running Backs cutting and avoiding contact in particular).

Gameplay will be critical to those on the fence. Descriptive words can only do so much. Will it be subjective or objective? As the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words."

An example being "Living Worlds." The concept is great, but execution can only be truly embraced visually.

Praying for the best, expecting the worst has become my mindset for Madden. I'm hoping it blows me away in every single aspect.

I think EA is smart by not showing nothing. They could put out the best football game ever, and people will hate and call it garbage. I look at it this way I love football and want to play football on my ps4. So guess what im buying the game along with all the other sports games.

One was built from the ground up and looks to be insanely impressive, another may have the same gameplay (which was already stellar) but at least has HUGELY overhauled graphics and added game modes, I don't know if M25 even has that.

You enjoy M25 a lot already, so I understand your point of view and understand that we just disagree, not saying I am right and you are wrong, but I do feel the "it just takes a lot of time" excuse is...I dunno, almost inappropriate, frankly.

I am still excited to pop the game in, not gonna lie, despite how tempered my expectations are.
All depends on the foundation engine.

PS2....was a great engine...and by the 3rd iteration...it was tight.

PS3.....by all accounts really was a disaster of an engine....and they never fully recovered.

When it came to MLB The Show......2009 was worlds ahead of the first 2.

NBA 2K11....clearly better than 09 and 10. Clearly.

NHL 09 was really worlds ahead of 07 and 08

Tiger 09.....clearly better than 07 and 08.

Just saying.

Of course IMO.

I'm very excited to play.
Left OS for a bit just to reboot and get away from all the negativity that's rampant at OS these days.
I can say it was refreshing to go that long without reading all the whining.

Pretty much keeping that mindset and will stay away from the forums and just have fun with the game.

Pretty exciting

Just remember:
While it seems that all other games removed or don't have multi-player career mode.... Madden is the only one that has it.

It was a rocky start with CCM, but CFM seemed like a solid step forward (even if its incrdedibly disappointing that it is not improved upon this year)

I, personally, am really looking forward to play the game... especially if those "under the hood" fixes for CFM mean FIXED SIM STATS!

...and if the power of the consoles means better loading times when advancing weeks
