Madden NFL 25 News Post

Polygon has posted up some next-gen Madden NFL 25 impressions. The impressions are from a hands-on experience with the game. Here are a few things from the article:
  • Proper double teams and pocket formation is in this year's game. The pass rush is better than on current-gen Madden.
  • Fans are much better at reacting to events on the field, reacting to 40 different types of events on the field with different reactions.
  • Madden NFL 25 on the PS4 supports remote play on the PS Vita.
What did you think of the impressions? Anything stick out to you?

the two things im MOST excited to see is the improved pass rush as well as the "track" system for the DB's on defense. If the ball gotta come out quick and the coverage is legit we are gonna have a pretty NEW feeling experience this year. No more will some cheesers get away with the 20 yard drop back and wing it across the field to an open receiver. COULD be a gamechanger especially in online play.

Lets hope it is legit

Let's hope for M15 they add independent WR/DB interactions + make the ball/throw not be tethered to the WR but rather a point on the field.

Oh! and work on those effin throwing animations EA, will ya?

Graphics wise it was. But gameplay was not a huge leap IMO.

It was a rocky start with CCM, but CFM seemed like a solid step forward (even if its incrdedibly disappointing that it is not improved upon this year)

I, personally, am really looking forward to play the game... especially if those "under the hood" fixes for CFM mean FIXED SIM STATS!

...and if the power of the consoles means better loading times when advancing weeks
I've exclusively used online CFMs even for single player just because of the load time benefits since it's introduction.

Concerning line in Kotaku's PS4 review:

"We've checked out some multiplatform games like Assassin's Creed IV and Skylanders: Swap Force and marveled at their graphics. We've popped Madden in and wondered if we were looking at a PS3 game."

I guess that explains the lack of gameplay vids. Just like the ESPN MNF game previews. Can't really tell the difference just by looking at it.

Clicking advance is instant rather than my console simming every game and whatever other housekeeping it does before having to upload it to the server and/or then autosaving. Really one of my favorite parts of CFM, of all the big name features this small thing is so impactful. You don't even download a franchise file or anything, it's nice.

Anything concrete on gameplay yet?

I haven't been able to check the forum today until now, not sure where to start?

Nothing concrete.

Only that Madden has a review embargo until 9am Friday while FIFA has already been reviewed by multiple sites. Take from that what you will.

It's not abnormal for games to have a review embargo until some time on the release date. Occasionally even really good games do that. It doesn't look so good however when virtually every other launch game has been reviewed and/or has multiple live gameplay videos all over the internet when this has nothing except produced trailers that show virtually nothing.

# 71 N51_rob @ 11/13/13 01:10 PM
Very few "good" games or games that the developers have confidence in do this. You want the review out before the games launch to get those that are on the fence to purchase. Having an embargo that restricts reviews until the day the game drops is shameful, same with not showing actual gameplay videos.

It gives the impression that EA has something to hide with Madden, similar to what they are doing with NBA Live in EA isn't giving reviewers their copies to review until after the release date. Its like a movie that won't screen for critic before opening night. It is not the actions of a company that is confident in their product.

Wow.

I am not gonna go all Chicken Little but the embargo thing is definitely insanely suspicious/not a good sign.

Oh well. It will be my NFL fix this year....

If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck.... well you know the rest.

I have a copy of madden for the PS4 coming tomorrow and I may just leave it sealed until I see something.

Frankly this is not something you do when you spend a considerable time last year pimping your new engine for next gen and how advance it was.

It makes perfect sense. If the reviews come out and the game tanks you have to assume that 2 or 3 out of every 10 people that have played it by that point might not have bought it if they had seen the reviews.

I would not think anything of it except that they let FIFA be reviewed. Its like they threw the attractive kid out to show off their bloodline and are leaving the snaggletooth kids in the basement until after the person marries into the family.

Even though I have the game sitting here in front of me, I am concerned with there being no reviews or videos....

I have 6 games sitting on my desk in my office. 5 of those 6 no longer have shrink wrap on them.

You guys are nuts if you think Madden will tank. Anyone who likes football will buy it, all the dude-bros will buy it, and all you guys will buy it just to complain about how you wasted hard earned money on top of the complaining you're already doing.

# 78 N51_rob @ 11/13/13 01:49 PM
No one said it will tank. You are reaching for things. You also have started to up your rhetoric towards members who complain. It stops now. You like madden, that is great, feel free to spout out its greatness, but do not continue to call out people who have problems with Madden and are voicing those issues in the appropriate manner. If that isn't something you don't think you can do there are plenty of other sites that would cater to your feelings of Madden.

I would love to open them, but it would just be me teasing myself. I am really concerned about Madden now
