NBA 2K14 News Post

Here's some gameplay video posted by Bug (@Weezyy_F_Baby) of the final moments of some first half gameplay between the Thunder and Bulls -- you also get a peak at the halftime show in NBA 2K14 next gen. At one point, you see Derrick Rose being interviewed as he walks off of the court.

What do you guys think?

I thought that was the Ecomotion system in action. At first I thought they were trying to emulate the leg kick to try and get a foul move we see guys doing in real life.

An In an exhibition game though? I'm glad they weren't cause 2k had a problem in 2k11, 2k12, and 2k13 with the crowd being hype at the beginning of unimportant games.
I completely understand where you're coming from but think about being a well known developing team and having a rival team such as EA on your heels.. You gotta do it right and not let the competition come in and make it better. And if this was incorporated back in 2k5 then it should be flawless by now even though it hasn't been integrated in the other installments of basketball

Btw, I was hoping for a halftime show as well, but I'll let it pass till 2k15 since we at least got interviews with real voices which I wasn't expecting AT ALL.
Yeah but how much data are they going to have recorded to keep it fresh over time. Doris Burke can only ask Rose how does it feel to be back in the first game of the season.

Will we hear interviews relevant to the game that we are playing?

And it's possible (or at least I'm hoping) that there are full halftime shows in Association mode. That halftime was barebones and the same exact presentation and commentary as current gen.

Likes:
-Game was physical.
-Players had weight to them.
-Derrick Rose's real voice was recorded and used.
-Game looks clean. That OKC background with the lightning before the start of the 3rd quarter was very cool.

Dislikes:
-Left-hand putbacks/layups/shots. 2 in a row by Boozer and Noah.
-Although the halftime interview with Doris Burke was nice, I was REALLY hoping for a full halftime show. Maybe it's included in the Association mode?
-Jeremy Lamb = CPU beast. What's up with team and player tendencies??
-Didn't see much off the ball movement by OKC. Will have to watch again.
I know Lamb isn't a great player, but the easy shots he was getting it's almost expected of him to make those shots. The player was bringing Hinrich up for a double team on Westbrook almost everytime up the court (I'm guessing Westbrook was laying into him) and Lamb had an easy shot every time.

Every time though? Like I said it's a minor gripe.

I'm not going to excuse them. Just want to know how it will play out over the course of an entire game. FWIW, Lamb had an open lane to the basket and didn't drive or take a shot.

As more footage leaks, it'll be something to look out for.

But the thing is they aren't even on their heels, granted I know that's isn't an excuse not to improve, but they aren't. This IS an upgrade over CG, so to sit here and expect the moon from the FIRST on a new system, I can't. I want it done as realistically as possible cause I'm a realism nut, but this is a great start. NO GAME in sports has even touched interviews since 2k6, and even then they didn't have voices. Now they have REAL PLAYER'S voices AND they respond to the ACTUAL QUESTION an not just some random audio clip. I gotta respect that as it's the first of it's kind.

its hard to tell too much from this because the guy playing clearly has no bball knowledge whatsoever (anyone else like his turnaround jumper with noah? "that was perfect timing!"). liked that the ai took advantage of open shooters. hopefully teammate offball movement will be intelligent for the users team. hard to get a grasp of that from this because the guy was running around with no sense of direction.

i like the halftime interviews although both rose and doris burke looked a little stiff. they did a good job with the angle of rose's head while he was listening to her talk. either way nice touch to add to realism.

very disappointed that the halftime show is the same as cg. and the one reply that randomly zoomed in on center court. also didnt like the one pass from rose to boozer that went through boozers chest.

would like to see some direct capture footage from someone who knows how to play basketball to get a real feel for what the game will be like.

just watched it again. looks like 3 second violations are still missing. 1:04-1:09 Noah is in the paint with no offensive player near him and theres no whistle.

I don't see the current-gen comparisons at all on the normal gameplay angle. Everything looks much more detailed. Of course, everything will look better up close, that's to be expected. I can DEFINITELY see the difference right away, and as long as it looks and performs better, I'm all in.

As for the halftime interview, glad to see a spiritual successor to ESPN NFL 2K5's post-game interviews...but likely a thousand times better thanks to improved voice acting.

I wonder if there's enough generically voiced lines recorded for rookies or minor players so the feature doesn't get amazingly repetitive once new players come into the league.

Overall, super excited for next Friday. Can not wait to give this game a spin.

Yes this game is beautiful in person jaws are going to hit the floor trust me

LOVE the periodic cutaways after made hoop (close up of players)! That will be a subtle but welcome addition with player emotion!!!! Gonna be awesome.

Already on my graphical wish list for next year:

-moving hair (guessing it doesn't move from Doris Burke shot...looks like feathery helmet, like Dirk)
-camera men, ball boys, cheerleaders...especially improve # ppl on baselines.
-bench players with warmups, towels.
-do refs physically make calls? Would love to see the occasional animated charge call or and-one!

Suggestions aside, game looks wonderful! Can't wait!!!!!

I will say game was played on pro settings by the way I'll try to get some all star footage

# 80 Gosens6 @ 11/08/13 04:05 PM
Another case in point, I love how aggressive Westbrook was. He and Durant each had 8 points at the half, and I feel like Westbrook could have had more if the guy playing didn't leave Lamb open every play.

Also liked the fact that when the CPU saw the drive to the lane was shut down, they kicked it out to an open man! You would hardly, if ever see that on current gen, where every player is hell bent on driving to the hoop.

Edit: Wow, this was only on Pro? The AI is going to TEAR up poor defense in this game.
