NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Eco-Motion Engine Video and Blog

PlayStation.Blog has posted a new NBA 2K14 next-gen blog detailing the new Eco-Motion, which brings the NBA experience to life. With Eco-Motion, players will see more crowd reactions, better atmosphere, coaching strategies, real player voices, and emotion of the game.

Hate to bring up the competition but they said that they are doing weekly recordings with Jalen. I have no idea if its just audio or visual as well, but I am hoping 2k will up the ante and we will see something very special. Who would it be though? If you had to pick? I think doris burke would still do side line, it sounds like shes on an individual contract, which would leave rachel nichols open to do the in studio or craig sager if he be willing to return? I hope its not a no name guy. Clark Kellog, the halftime voice guy reminds me that 2k is still a video game.

That was not a trailer. At all. It was a behind the scenes look.

I know but trailers promos ect they are supposed to amaze you

So I should just assume it might not be amazing because of skepticism's own sake?

They've given me no reason otherwise. Hell, wingspans alone have sold me on this game, even if nothing else is different from CG to NG. But that is clearly not the case.

Great blog and video. Man, as wonderful as the new Eco-Motion engine is I can't help but be sad that it'll only be used for (pro) basketball and maybe pro wrestling. I would absolutely love to see this technology used in another pro sport. Imagine a brand new MLB, NHL or (giggity) NFL 2K title with this impressive engine. *sigh*

I don't disagree im amazed with the game but we won't know if its a much different game ..gameplay wise from CG until we play it

My thing is gameplay wise how do i know it is much different? is the defense improved? AI improved? rebounding? passing ratings actually mattering ect...

You said it yourself, unless we get a demo (which would only come out on the day the system drops which is hte same day the game is available so only people with just enough $$ for the system but no game would play it) there's no way to know how the game plays.

Even if you watch a 5 minute quarter of footage, it's not the same as having the sticks in your hands. So trying to quell someone's bluster over the only thing available to us now in regards to the game, doesn't really jive with me.

Well obviously its not the same but even 1 quarter of footage gives us some idea's you can see if players box out for rebounds , how players react on defense ect

This looks amazing, plain and simple. I absolutely cannot wait to play this.
Only thing that kind of bugs me sometimes, is when defenders jump when a player is about to dunk and they have absolutely no chance, like in the video when LeBron goes to dunk, two Clippers players behind him jump and go for a block, even though the ball is about to go through the hoop. That's one kind of eye sore to me, gameplay wise.
But wow, does the rest of this make up for that very little thing and then some. I don't know what else to say, I just can't wait for next Friday!

That has been a issue in 3D basketball games since forever. The A.I. needs to understand when to "give up" on a play. Until then we'll continue to see this annoying quirk.

so you can the detail in the difference.....mostly the ball spin and the feet movement...game looks so sick
