NBA 2K14 News Post

James Harden and Dwight Howard -- new teammates in Houston.

If there was ever a way for a game to purposefully play it safe with a championship pick, NBA 2K14 has done just that by declaring the Miami Heat the future NBA Champions according to a next-gen season simulation.

The sim had the Heat besting the Spurs 4-1 -- however once you look under the hood some interesting results become apparent. The West saw the Spurs take the #1 seed, with the Warriors getting the second seed. The Clippers and Thunder tied on record -- with the Clips getting the nod over the Thunder for the third seed.

In the East, the Heat ran away with the top seed with 66 victories on the year. The Nets also had quite a bit of distance between themselves and the Bulls in the three seed. Three teams from the east made the playoffs in the sim with losing records, with both Washington and Cleveland making the playoffs with 37 total

6. Portland Trailblazers 45-37

I think that's because the ball and Wall's arms and body seem to be obstructing the light. Other players near him may be as well. His position on the court may also affect the lighting, so you're mainly seeing reflected light from the floor and ambient light.

White jerseys look much whiter in other screenshots and poses. I would not compare it against Live's lighting engine that's completely simplistic and inaccurate.

That nets bench pick looks like real life, I mean, look at the back of KG's head lol

I like it that Players can wear those ankle socks and regular socks under it (Rose pic). I think it wasn't in previous 2K's. I hope players can also were lower socks where you see a bit of white above the ankle sock...a-la Billups.

Little detail, but in the screen shot of the Heat arena during the finals, there are NO camera men/ photographers on the court, there should be like 20 on each side tbh

KG's head look like a pack of milk duds. Lol.

I'm guessing these are old since they weren't in the gameplay video either.

I hope so, I feel that is more important than the lines out of bounds being off like that other dude was going off about

Those lines are where the cameramen sit. So their placement would be off as well-- so yes, it's somewhat important. It's not just the lines, the entire baseline placement of objects-- lines, basket, first row, non-existant dancers and cameramen-- is off.

live's john wall looks more like him in the face...2k does have better skin texture tho but need to work on the face and skin tone some more...i'm not sure whats the deal with jersey color been seeing different reasons or excuses but at the end of the day they didn't get some of it right on current gen.

And the Pacers at 6th? Hahaha. Okay. This must have been simulated with Roy Hibbert starting at point guard.
Yeah, and Paul George got traded to the Pistons because they for some reason finished fourth in the East.

And in the sim, 4 teams went over 50 wins, only TWO less than real life last year. I know you were trying to find something to hate on, but come on man.
Ah, dude you might want to check your numbers. We can't count 2011-12 since they only played 66 games. And last year you are missing the Clippers with over 55, and pacers just missed on 49 because they only played 81 games (one was cancelled), Nets also just missed on 49, Warriors 47

It's only one sim of course, no big deal, but I have to point out this has done a really mediocre job of replicating an NBA season. No one is asking for perfection obviously, but they need to get closer than this.

A start would be the Pacers not declining by 10 wins in spite of the fact that they significantly IMPROVED their roster (Granger back, Scola, Copeland, Watson). The only possible way this would happen is if George AND someone like David West missed most of the season, and even then they have Granger and Scola to plug in to the lineup for them.

"Reaching for things to bitch about". Really? Excluding Association, I usually have alot of praise for 2k and barely any criticism. But sure, if you want to pull things out of nowhere, go ahead.

Have to say that sim engine dont look to promising with the Pacers a 6th seed an losing record. I wonder if they had injuries on during the sim, then I could see that possibly happening if they were to have some injuries. I also dont see the Cavs making the playoffs either.

Miller is a great rebounder. A lot better of a defender than people give him credit for. But to say Miami is going to miss him defensively is silly. This is coming from a big Mike Miller fan.
