James Harden and Dwight Howard -- new teammates in Houston.

If there was ever a way for a game to purposefully play it safe with a championship pick, NBA 2K14 has done just that by declaring the Miami Heat the future NBA Champions according to a next-gen season simulation.

The sim had the Heat besting the Spurs 4-1 -- however once you look under the hood some interesting results become apparent. The West saw the Spurs take the #1 seed, with the Warriors getting the second seed. The Clippers and Thunder tied on record -- with the Clips getting the nod over the Thunder for the third seed.

In the East, the Heat ran away with the top seed with 66 victories on the year. The Nets also had quite a bit of distance between themselves and the Bulls in the three seed. Three teams from the east made the playoffs in the sim with losing records, with both Washington and Cleveland making the playoffs with 37 total

6. Portland Trailblazers 45-37

That's the point I was getting at. Miller's rebounds helped defensively.

Pacers and Grizzlies being below .500 should be UNACCEPTABLE for a game that is alleging to re-create the NBA.

Memo to Mike Wang, LD2k, The2kInsider, et. al. -- spend just a little bit less time perfecting the anti-aliasing around LeBron's hairline and Kenyon Martin's neck tattoos and spend a little more time watching NBA basketball.

I am guessing non-scanned players will be off. I expect Kyrie to be off as I don't expect him to get scanned. Whoever doesn't get scanned should do so now!!! lol That Nets picture wow hard to tell if that wasn't real. The bar is being set high even if you don't play at these views it will still be photo-realistic or broadcast realistic. I expect the 2K cam will make it look even better when you see how the crowd is animated as well behind the basket. I wish I could have seen more of the Nets floor and arena lighting.

Anything can happen during an NBA season to cause top tier teams to falter. We don't know if injuries, bad seasons, trades or anything happened in this sim. Hell, sometimes teams are good one year, and terrible the next. It happens.

Looking at the records and it seems 2K may have the same simulation problem it's had for a while. Usually one or two teams with crazy win totals and a bunch of teams with 30-50 wins and hardly any truly bad teams.

Haha we need to see the reference but injuries happen. If Hibbert or George goes down that is a big deal same with Gasol and Zbo.

Small thing but D. Rose arm looks very small in that pic, face looks spot on though so I can live with it.

Exactly. This worries me. I was hoping they rebuilt the sim engine, and they may have, but those win totals make me think of 2k's in the past.

It's even more off since he's bulked up in the offseason...

Looking at the records again, the only ones that stand out to me are Memphis not making the playoffs and Indy being 6th. But, I'm guessing both probably had injuries. Everyone else seems about spot on tbh.

I suppose only players on small-market contenders get injured then, since the big-market teams had sterling records.

Odd thing is, in the trailer he seems to be bigger and have the correct body type. Which leads me to believe all these pictures are from an older build(Notice LeBron's shoulder tat isn't visible)

New York is seeded below Detroit at 6th, LA is 7th while Portland is 6th. I don't think the game has Stern logic.

Does make sense considering a lot of the actual PR pics are approved well before they are officially released
