I agree, are ratings even that important less than a month before launch, im sure there are a lot more features that could be covered, nothing like getting hyped up over what rating a rookie will have lol

Peyton Siva (67)

They finally lowered Ellis' rating! Dude was OP even with the CPU (Dropped 77 points in MP mode against me)

Melo's makes sense compared to the other ratings, and if B-Mac is a 72, Nerlens Noel 's 72 makes sense as well.

John Wall (85)
Kevin Durant (94)

Gonna be quoting Rashidi a bit from his blog about these overall ratings:

Quote:
Paul George (2K13) - 83/SG
78 Steal (2.6 STL% ranked 16th in NBA)
82 On-Ball Defense (George lead the NBA in defensive possessions by a considerable margin)
84 Defensive Awareness

Paul George has received a ton of hype since the end of last season, and my view is that 2K Sports is overreacting to satisfy fan demand. He is not a great offensive player by any stretch, shooting only 42% from the field, and needing 38 minutes to average 17 points. George's mid-range game still needs a ton of work (shooting only 34% from 3-23 feet), and this is where I fear 2K has over-valued him.

If 2K has only boosted George's defensive attributes, then I can live with that. However if he operates like a superstar on offense, then I have a big problem with that.
Quote:
Evan Turner (2K13) - 82/SF
82 Shot 3pt (not a volume shooter, and percentage collapsed in second half)
79 Free Throw (dropped to 74%, which is also career%)
67 Offensive Rebound (2.1 ORB% is awful for a SF)
79 Offensive Awareness (not a big-time offensive player)
65 Consistency (just look to his second half)
91 Potential (while this doesn't factor into Overall, hopefully 2K realizes that ship has sailed)

At 76 Overall (-6) hopefully this means Turner had some of these ratings nerfed.

Turner got off to a hot start in 2013, resulting in many boosts he ended up not deserving.
Oct-Jan: 43.8 FG%, 41.3 3PT%
Feb-Apr: 39.3 FG%, 30.5 3PT%

Turner fell apart in a big way over the season's second half, but this was never addressed by 2K Sports who abandoned Sixers ratings by the All-Star break. A similar mid-season dropoff happened to Jrue Holiday (who maintained 88 Overall from that point forward), and it would not surprise me if he saw a similar decrease once his ratings are revealed.

Yippie! Overalls! Really don't care, what are the individual stats for these players? Overall doesn't mean jack squat to me unless I see them 3pt, speed, etc.

Brook Lopez is sooo fu******* underrated its atrocious. He has a top five PER only behind lebron, Durant, Cp3 etc. he was the only player last year to average 2 blocks and 18 points. And he still barely makes it to all star games and struggles to get the ratings he deserves in 2k. Why does he have a lower average than Ellis and the same as Gasol when he played at a way higher level than hose guys???

# 133 Melbournelad @ 09/13/13 02:42 AM
Monta Ellis. Shoot 41%, get an 82 rating like an allstar. Lol. But I guess overall ratings are pretty useless. They should get rid of it and just go for individual ratings based on the stats tracker.

I'm kind of strict when it comes to Ratings, this is just my 2 cents

Russell Westbrook a 91? The guy plays wild, out of control and relies too much on his athleticism and mid range game but he has no basketball IQ! Don't get me wrong I like watching him play, he should be an 88 at the highest

Paul George rated 88 is ridiculous, he is over rated, has potential and talent to be a star but has not sharpened or progressed enough as of yet to be rated that high. Yes he is a good defender and rebounder but his offence is very inconsistent and only reason he was an all-star was the fact the Eastern Conference was so weak they had to put him in. Again, like watching him play, but not an all-star, maybe this year? He should be a 84, same issue with James Harden who is rated 88 in NBA 2K13

Remember last year when they shipped NBA 2K13, Dwight Howard was rated 95!!

My hypothesis is that 2K rewards players that receive media attention and reward them with higher ratings. Remember the whole talk about Dwight to join Kobe and Nash. It shouldn't be like this!! Reward folks who can actually ball and ball smart.

Look at the Gordon Haywards, the Demar Derozans of the world. Pay attention to the small market teams rather than the big market teams.

That was the kind of height and speed he will be facing at the next level so I'm a little worried about him...

As far as everyone else's rating they seem fair. I wish INdy would have looked a little harder at addressing that point guard position in the off season..
Dude, you can't judge a player for 1 game... Have you seen him in summer league? Impressive player (yes, I know its SL, but he was impressive anyways)

I usually don't pay much attention to overall ratings, but analazyng his strengths , with just 68 overall I bet he will be severelly underrated in a lot of attributes. I mean, Chris freaking Johnson is 66 overall.... So this looks like a slap in the face for Zeller

I understand your point, but Demar Derozan isn't the best example to use. He is at best an average player who is overrated and slightly overpaid.

Thank you. He was the only one who played like themselves out of the knicks that WHOLE series on the knicks. He also had a torn labrum in his shoulder in that series. Imagine if jr could have somehow shot 38 percent that series instead of 29. JUST 38. it could have been a different series.

But jeez Hibbert looks massive. Man the pacers gettin scarier and scarier. I hope next year we get another Knicks vs Hicks series. Just like old times. with MWP bringing physicality to the knicks and the pacers playing how they play it could be a war.

I would like to know if the "dynamic updates" deal with tendencies as well.
Ratings are only part of the equation.
If the updates don't deal with tendencies they would be pointless for any gamer who predominatly plays the single player modes.

Not that I will be utilizing 2ks updates. They have always sucked, There is no reason to think this trend won't continue, regardless of the sales pitch.
