Do you have to be a paid member or will the free membership work also?

Sounds great, ONLY if i can transfer save data. Otherwise I hardly see the point. Although, at BB you get $10 for preordering so it would negate the $10 trade charge. What do ya'll think, worh doing?

When I was at Gamestop in the last week or so they were advertising it so I would think they will be honoring the $9.99 upgrade to the next gen version. Hopefully, Sony will be doing the same.

Yes but if the deal weren't in place you'd pay 60+60 to get both versions.

It doesnt make sense that they would give the next generation for free if you trade in the current gen version. You'd be upgrading to a superior product so of course you're gonna have to pay for it.

Honestly it's the whole promotion that doesn't make any sense to me. It's like buying a movie on DVD and then buy it again on BD one month later, even if discounted.

A lot of industry "success" and internal marks for success are based upon sales numbers.

Many of the development teams (across all genres) that I personally know, get green lights for future funding and projects based upon sales numbers. If you look at it from a purely numerical standpoint then it makes more sense.

I have Madden on 360 and will be 2k14 on 360 as well but will be getting a PS4 at launch. How much can I get for 2k14 for trade on the 15th? What about Madden?

Almost, but more like buying a blu ray that has extra features you didn't get on the dvd.

I do agree that it makes a lot of sense for Microsoft, that would double account some of its sales. It doesn't make sense for customers

@KyotoCarl
You're right, but the blu ray with extras will cost as the dvd and will be available few weeks later

Will this work also in Europe or just USA and Canada?

Cheers! ;-)

I really hope Sony announces something like this soon.

Same with the game. It will cost the same but come out a month later. That's why paying $10 to trade in the old version for the new version is a pretty sweet deal. Wouldn't happen in the movie business.

The best thing to do is wait til next gen. But if you need you fix now you are essentially renting the game for 10$ for about a month.

Are you a Microsoft executive?

it makes sense for the people that cant wait for 2k14 to come out for next gen and want to play 2k14 as soon as possible.

You are basically paying 10 dollars to rent the current gen 2k14 for a month.

This is probably the only way I can see myself buying 2k14 for current gen

# 58 infam0us @ 09/09/13 12:51 PM
Its a good deal but I will pass. I don't want to start MyCareer and then 6-7 weeks later have to start all over again. Also seeing the same endorsements and the same progression for a second time will kill the mode all together for me.

Haha no, but people slam things without looking at the options. You could skip current gen and wait for next gen but, as others have said, you can effectively rent the game for $10 for a month. Dont see how anyone can think that's unfair or something bad.

Fine, but it still sounds odd to me. As yungsta404 confirmed above, basically they're pushing 360 sales more than xbox1 ones.
And, besides 2k14, what's the point with some of other titles in promotion? Am I supposed to play watchdogs or assassin creed on 360 for some weeks (and maybe finish them) and then start again on xbox1 with some of the story already spoiled? Seriously?

You know what? Probably Microsoft will reach (or already did) agreements with major publishers (EA, Take2, etc) and retailers (amazon or gamestop) to go on with similar promotions (give back a game and get a new one at a symbolic price) in order to have most of used game copies in its stores or those of its business partners.
In other words they will change the mean (previously DRM) to achieve the same objective (control/limit the used games market)
