NCAA Football 14 News Post

The final version of NCAA Football before the next generation of consoles arrive has hit the (virtual) marketplace. EA has packed the latest iteration of its college football simulation about as full as you can, but does that mean it’s the best so far of this generation?

This year fans of the NCAA Football series finally get their first taste of EA's new football physics engine, Infinity Engine 2.

EA claims that now speed, momentum, mass, and more are all taken into account when determining the outcome of any collision. EA has also added in a brand new recruiting system, a revamped dynasty mode, and for the first time in the NCAA series, Ultimate Team is making its debut into the franchise.

All of the improvements and additions do translate into what is probably the most authentic college football experience ever on a console, but that doesn't mean NCAA Football 14 is perfect.

i find this review disappointing. operation sports is all about sports. this game still leaves a lot to be desired. and if gamespot (who reviews every single game) gives it a 6....how is it getting an 8 on here?? in the past its been opposite. where os has given sports games the lower rating while other game websites who do not pay much attention to sports games other than when they release give them the rating that is too high.

this has me worried as an avid oser....

Didn't gamespot or ign give NBA 2k13 a 9.5?? I wont be taking their reviews seriously after that....

Its pointless to base buying a game off another person review. Very rarely will two people feel the exact same way about a game. One may like it another may not.

GameStop the last place I'd go for a review, let alone for a sports title.

Played the demo, will not buy it. Not impressed with the look of the game; looks just like last year with just new and improved gameplay.

the more i play this game the more i wanna put my pre order on another game... i feel stupid for getting season ticket honestly cause a lot.. HASNT been fixed..

defense as said above isnt fixed at all.. and yealp its annoying as crap to be pressing the Y button on defense and your guy never jumps at all and bam the com is gone for a TD... and pass block is still stupid and the same... defenders rush right past my guys and my guys just sit there and let them run past and do nothing...

i was honestly hoping for better.. id hope they fixed some stuff.. since they worked with People who know the game? did they not listen to them or what?! just weird to me... i was really looking forward to playing some ncaa and college ball again but i dont think i can shell out the cash again for this.. when its not worth it to me.. sadly

After last year's bug-filled debacle I really wasn't excited about this one at all. I finally decided to give the demo a shot out of boredom recently. The game feels much more natural than it ever has. The new physics engine has some quirks--I've seen players get launched into the air as if they were hit by a car a time or two-- but for the most part it really does add a lot to the gameplay.

I'm still not getting this one immediately. I want to wait until I see what bugs this game has after last year's game. EA's testing standards have hit rock bottom since the ability to patch games has started, so you know there will be some in this game too. If the quality was guaranteed I'd definitely be picking it up.

I agree for the most part, but you can get an idea of what features games have, how they work, and the issues if the review is well-written. The problem is too many of them are not, especially for sports games. You can tell a lot of reviewers for mainstream video game sites really don't understand the sports the games they're reviewing are based on.

i wish they would mention how the horrible presentation really affects the atmosphere. No reviewer out there seems to really care they've been using the same fight songs from NCAA 2002. Some chants were thrown in here and there, but overall, doesn't feel like a true college game yet.

Another year and no NCAA for me. I have started putting some defenses together but the game just requires:

1) Way too much micromanagement
2) Slide Protection is hosed. I should not be sliding to the numbers and someone comes free on that side on a consistent basis from a five man rush and I have six in to block.
3) Guys are still relying on 2 man nano edge pressures and not playing football and it WORKS.

To be fair, they did improve some stuff. But when I look at their improvements they don't appear ORGANIC to me. For instance, I look at the run game and say cool. But then when I hit the replay and notice the DL does not even move until the blocker is all over them, then I'm like yeah, that's how the run game is improved. Damn defensive line doesn't move until the OL is all over them. I'll finish playing up the season pass. I don't want to get negative on their effort, I'll just end by saying the game is not for me. Many will enjoy it, but it's just not for me.

8 out of 10? Is this serious?

Should be 8 for gameplay not overall. 6 sounds right

I can't remember if it was Millennium or Chris that said reviews generally lag a year behind. Last years offering wasn't good but wasn't awful from what I could tell. This year seems much improved but it's getting hammered due to last years effort.

I don't know where else to ask this. Does anyone know how to edit your coaches record?

From the main menu: team management > edit coaches.

We'd better enjoy this year's NCAA 14, the court battle still continues over the realism and college players not getting a dime from it.
