NCAA Football 14 News Post

The final version of NCAA Football before the next generation of consoles arrive has hit the (virtual) marketplace. EA has packed the latest iteration of its college football simulation about as full as you can, but does that mean it’s the best so far of this generation?

This year fans of the NCAA Football series finally get their first taste of EA's new football physics engine, Infinity Engine 2.

EA claims that now speed, momentum, mass, and more are all taken into account when determining the outcome of any collision. EA has also added in a brand new recruiting system, a revamped dynasty mode, and for the first time in the NCAA series, Ultimate Team is making its debut into the franchise.

All of the improvements and additions do translate into what is probably the most authentic college football experience ever on a console, but that doesn't mean NCAA Football 14 is perfect.

What were your thoughts on the new halftime presentation? I heard that they talk about the first half and what changes need to be made in the second.

Fair review. I agree the audio & the lack of atmosphere are the weakest part of the game.

Wow, I like how this review was very honest telling me the pros and cons about the game and telling me what the new features were. I didn't feel like you were bashing the game like haters or praising the game like fanboys. This review is a lot more insightful than Gamespot and IGN.

Well done review! this is how someone reviews a game unlike IGN and Gamespot

Just one editors note in the comments -- hoping to have more on Online (wasn't quite fully ready for prime-time in our playtime) and the Presentation next week!

Great review, can't wait for Tuesday!

Any new features such as accelerated clock, new sliders or anything new beside the physic engine?

GREAT REVIEW

I thought in the demo the crowd looked worse. Not my imagination.

Good review... Its a shame that presentation is still so horrible and far behind other sports titles... It kills the life of the game but the play on the field has improved..Thats about it

Visuals – The crowd and sideline characters look worse this year, but the colors pop off the screen. The addition of the new coordinator cam is a welcomed one, and the players models have been upgraded.

Audio – One of the biggest issues in the game. The commentary is beyond needing replaced, and the crowd volume is very hit or miss.

Sounds like better and smarter AI play calling.

Huge improvement!

The RTP Are toned down allot from Madden 13. The stiff arm animations can't be interrupted by other defenders. They just fall over like bowling pins. second and third defenders don't impact the tackle with as much force as in Madden 13.

I think Robert did a good job of noting the game's flaws and factoring them into the final score. 8 seems about right to me - just from a gameplay perspective.

Really appreciate this review. I think it seems fair that the best game of this gen is an 8. Only one other title this gen would I put in the 8 range. I'd agree that there haven't been any 9's.

Great review! Very honest and well-rounded.

Accelerated Clock? I like to play full 15 Minute Quarters. This is possible in Madden with the Accelerated Clock function but in NCAA, without it you end up with unrealistic play counts & yardage.

They gave NCAA 13 a better review on IGN and NCAA 13 was NOT a good game.

If its the best college football game ever, why is it only an 8? Games have flaws but if you say it's the best college football game ever that sounds kinda nitpicky
