Madden NFL 25 News Post

Greg Miller of IGN sat down with Cam Weber on the IGN set at E3 to talk Madden NFL 25 and what the Ignite Engine means to next-gen Madden.

"(The Ignite Engine) is best in class tech from all of our franchises," Weber said.

The new locomotion system within the new generation of Madden was developed by both the Madden and FIFA teams alongside each other. Weber was particularly high on the new system, "The thing that makes Madden feel special on Gen-4 is our new true step locomotion sytem," Weber said. "You have much more control over every move."

Weber said that Player Sense makes 50x more calculations a second than Madden on current gen.

"It's like taking the blindfold off. They (digital players) can see the entire field, all the players and objects around them and they can react on the fly to what everyone else is doing," Weber said.

Weber said the additional power allows for the extra calculations from players and the new physics engine, which will add more depth than ever to Madden NFL Football.

When asked about what this could mean on a practical level, Weber elaborated on the line play, "The line of scrimmage has so much going on this year, whether it's run blocking or pass blocking it's completely overhauled."

Weber went on to talk about pocket awareness and pre-snap targeting and how offensive linemen will dynamically change assignments starting from the center outwards, just like in real football. This dynamic shifting of assignments continues as the snap occurs as well, Weber said.

And the big one, when asked about the generational leap and the possibly of features lost, Weber responded, "It will be a fully featured Madden right out of the gate. We're not losing any depth."

Weber said Connected Franchise was built with this generation in mind, so there won't be any depth lost as you upgrade from the current generation to Madden on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

While we've long suspected this was the case, it's nice to officially hear that Madden will be losing no depth as it makes the generational leap.

How does this affect your perception of the upcoming next-gen Madden?

This means I'll probably skip current gen and just get the next-gen Madden, forbid there being many bugs.

LOL. That video looked like garbage.

Nice to hear that it's fully featured but I would've thought that video was current gen.

Well... if it wasn't for imported draft classes I would pass on the current gen.

Instead it looks like I'll be buying two copies of Madden this year.

There is no hope for football games. I'm just being honest, it's unbelievably same-old same-old looking, it's been almost a decade... the camera too is just so tired, it is SO pulled back from the action. Is that actually supposed to impress ANYONE? Other genres are putting out Watchdogs, GTA V, Skyrim, etc etc ... and they think they can just shovel out the same crap?

This franchise exemplifies the worst things about the industry. I guess another 8+ years will go by where football and videogames will not mix in my house.

I'm impressed you guys. Everything I saw looked real smooth and fluid. Color me excited. Although I may not get a next gen console till next year. Still though.

Well it's a little disheartening to see AP and #72 make minimal contact and blow each other up.

Not really...

Madden generation jump from PS1 to PS2 had my face like

Madden generation jump from PS2 to PS3 had my face like

Madden generation jump from PS3-PS4 now has my face like

I was expecting a bigger leap in terms of animations, tackling, and overall smoothness. I know this is an early build but I don't have a good feeling about this.

Thank god! I'll get both PS3 and PS4 versions. Too bad I can't transfer my PS3 CF over to PS4 when it comes out... Or can we?! Lol, I'm sure we can't but it would be nice.

I certainly hope that when I get my PS4 for X-Mas with Madden the rosters will stay updated enough. I don't want to have the roster from August current-gen. I know I can update but since you will have to pay for online services starting on PS4 I won't be able to update until about late January (my b-day, when I can afford PS+.)

And please, just stop complaining and learn to be grateful we finally got to see ACTUAL gameplay instead of close-up replay angles. Learn to be thankful, life gets a lot easier.

Being able to see RG3's pores is great, but I'd trade it in a minute to be able to install my spread option one-back offense and zone dog 3-4 defense.

For God's sake man, bring back the BEST FEATURE IN GAMING.
Head Coach 09 and Avatar Football both have create-a-play on the Xbox 360 if you are looking for a football game that has one.

Same dilemma here. I'm still waiting on what system to get but I'm still very undecided if Madden will be part of that. Not sure I want to start over a CFM in November but if things start looking real good as time goes by I might just have to. Still think I might just enjoy other next-gen games and start next-gen Madden next year. Definitely going to be keeping a close eye on it though.

How can anyone honestly be thinking about getting the Xbox?

Well, uhh, it looked like Madden. I had seen another gameplay demo from E3 that was mostly slow mo but now that I've gotten to see a demo more "real time" gameplay, it looks exactly like current gen Madden.
Wasn't impressed with the look of this but they have til possibly Oct before this game ships gold for next gen so roughly 4mos of work to be done.
Not encouraged but I have hope that I will pleased when I get my PS4 on release day with this game spinning in it...

Um that looked like Madden 06 when 360/PS3 versions first came out. Player models do not seem right...not sure about this. I really like what I've seen from current gen - so not sure what direction this one is going.

Cam does a good job in explaining how the game has been put together. I'm glad he is running the football ship at EA.
