NBA 2K14 - Next Gen Reveal Trailer

2K Sports released their Next-Gen NBA 2K14 trailer during the Sony E3 2013 Press Conference this evening.

The 'NBA 2K14 – Next Gen Reveal' segment featured NBA 2K14 cover athlete LeBron James discussing life as "Video Game James" with a digital version of himself, while showing off some of his on the court moves in NBA 2K14. All of the footage was NOT pre-rendered and shown from a pre-alpha PS4 build.

Dam you 2K.. You sweet glorious bastards! I was debating on skipping 2K altogether this year, until I saw this.

I woke up this morning and instantly preordered a Playstation 4 and this game.

*With basketball and football so far. The mlb the show crew has a strong hold on simulation baseball right now.

It's a f*cking trailer showing a single slow motion dunk. Looks great, but we don't know anything about the game yet. Oh, and Lebron says "buy it". So I have to. Come on 2k, take my money right now!

Seriously, 2k really has to do nothing at all to get people to spend money on their products. Maybe the game is going to be great, maybe it will be a huge disappointment. No way to tell right now. But 2k has done a great job of getting people to be emotionally attached to the brand. For many kids, it "feels right", so they have to buy it. Marketing wise, 2k is as good as it gets. They've done an impressive job getting kids to buy everything.

I mean let's say I wanna spend 60 bucks on a bball game in October. There are 2 competing products available. It's rational to compare both to find out which one I should spend my money on. But many people have their minds already made up based on brands ("Nothing can make be buy Live/2k... wow, Live/2k looks soooo great. Take my money right now...).
That's why video game companies can allow half-a**ing their products, people will spend money anyway, resulting in mediocre games or no game at all (Live was living on reputation alone for years leading to the recent disasters).

2K just took NBA Live 14 to the woodshed. Loud screams were heard but authorities arrived too late to the crime scene.

Have you played both games yet? Care to explain how you know 2k14 is better than Live 4 months before the games are released?

Simple.

Live is still using the same glossy, cartoony presentation its been using since 2006, so to me the game is already archaic and doesnt resonate well with me. And as far as first impressions go, live footage >>> CGI

Shooting looks off

Im very impressed to be honest. Didnt expect the game to look that different from current gen. Cannot wait to see more.

I hope they fix LeBron's headband placment. He never wears his headband to where you can see his hairline. They need to lift it a little more. Other than that it looked great. The slender build looked more realistic opposed to LeBron James looking like a defensive lineman on this gen. I know he is a big guy but sheesh. It looks like next gen replicates better. I was also impressed by how the player moved like LeBron too.

Agree. But all 2k showed so far is a slow motion dunk (2k13 looks not that much worse on PC maxed out) and Lebron's facial expressions, which weren't that impressive to me. I really don't care for graphics. If 2k would use 2k13 graphics all over again, I wouldn't mind if gameplay gets attention. Substance over style for me.

Mango we already defused the "looks like 2k13 on pc max "crap. I've personally been playing the pc version of 2K13 and it doesn't look like this AT ALL .

A game can be technologically sound, but if im not immersed then whats the point.

I'm wondering how different 2k14 current gen will look...I'm guessing 2k13 graphics with better gameplay...I'm ok with this but would love a bit of an upgrade to the graphics for current gen though...

To me that looks like a totally new graphics and animations engine which I dont think it can be. Must be soemthing in between. Transition to PS3 was also with the old engine massively upgraded with 2K7.

True. It comes down to personal taste. For me, graphics have been good enough to feel "immersed" since 2k/Live 10. And if 2k14 turns out to be yet another rich man's NBA Jam spin dunk fest, I couldn't care less how realistic Lebron's hairline is. I'd argue that while EA's player models really need some fine tuning regarding arms/shoulders, 2k13 had the same issues with too bulky players. So I'd say it's much too early to make a prediction. Both games are probably going to look just fine, so let's wait how they play.

Trailer looks great. However it will come down to what they've done to MyCareer that will decide whether or not I get this game.
