Madden NFL 25 News Post

Amazon has an exclusive Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition, according to Polygon's Samit Sarkar, which will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow at a cost of $99.

What's so special about it? Well, it's not as special for those of you that already have the DirecTV service with NFL Sunday Ticket. But for those that aren't subscribers, you can get $10 off every month for the first year and get a full season of NFL Sunday Ticket Max (normally $299.95).

You also get this...

UPDATE:
  • For fans who are not currently DirecTV subscribers but are able to receive DirecTV service, they will receive a promo code entitling them to $10 off per month for their first year of service and one year of NFL Sunday Ticket Max at no additional charge.
  • For fans who are already DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers, you can access NFL Sunday Ticket on your computer, tablet, and mobile devices using your current DirecTV username and password.
  • For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.

So I guess this won't work on the PS3 Sunday Ticket app then? That's kind of a bummer, but I can stream my desktop to my TV via my Apple TV which is an acceptable workaround.

This is clearly just an advertising ploy for Directv to get people who are buying Madden to switch to Directv. No thanks for me.
LOL, you clearly have never seen the difference between secondhand TV broadcasts versus the DirecTV HD transmission or you wouldn't have posted that. Not to mention the headache of finding an illegal feed and the chance you have of getting malware.

No details have been provided. All we know is that "eligible gamers" can get the streaming service without signing up for DirectTV. It's likely just legalese because of DirectTVs contract with the NFL but no one knows because we do not know exactly what an eligible gamer is in this context. Is it extremely likely everyone will be able to get it just by jumping through a couple hoops? Yes, but EA is not clarifying the issue and no one can know for sure.
EA Director of Marketing says that "eligible gamers" just means any gamer that has a code.

Yeah, thats only if you want to use the promo code. If you highlight the sentence before yours you see every game comes with a code to unlock the "trial" (which is 17 regular season games), anyone will have access to the digital sunday ticket

Okey cool. Thanks for explaining that. Reading the article confused me a bit. Then it seems like a pretty good deal for me.

The special code is for "eligible gamers". The qualifying word "eligible" would not be in that sentence if everyone gets the free trial. It would just read

"Each Anniversary Edition includes a special code for gamers giving them the opportunity to unlock a special, 2013 regular season (17 weeks) trial of NFL Sunday Ticket on computer, tablet, and mobile devices."

That paragraph doesn't make it completely clear who is "eligible", but based on context, I would say that "eligible" = those who cannot get DirecTv.
Read my post right before your first post for that answer.

Now I'm not much of a MUT player but is the Madden Ultimate Team Subscription something on the disc or is it just a code?

But that doesn't make sense to me, if the Amazon advertisement is true. I mean, it all centers around the word "eligible". Why use the term "eligible gamers" if every single person who buys the anniversary edition can use the code?

The word "eligible" has to differentiate between at least 2 types of gamers, or it just doesn't make sense. There is absolutely no reason to include the word "eligible" if all gamers can use the code that is in the box.

I'm honestly not trying to say that you're wrong. I hope that the code can be used by everyone who buys the game.

But if that winds up being the case, whoever wrote that Amazon advert needs to be moved to a different department, one in which he' not "eligible" for jobs that require writing advertisements.
Eligible gamers refers to people who are able to access Sunday Ticket through DTV or the app. People from outside of the US (Canada/Europe) can purchase the Anniversary Edition through Amazon's US site, receive a ST code but wont be able to use it because DTV and the app are not available in their country. Thus they are not "eligible gamers" for this promotion.

People need to stop overthinking this. I know people are suspect because it seems like a great deal and EA is involved but its very simple:

If you dont have DTV and dont want to get it: You can use the code to access ST through the app or on a computer.

If you dont have DTV and want to get it: You get 10% off a month and ST Max.

If you already have DTV: You get ST Max.

Excuse my ignorance b/c I am definitely one of the ones that is over thinking it. I have had NFL Sunday Ticket for over 10 years and last year I didn't get "Max" (Redzone, etc.) with it. So with this Anniversary Edition I will now get the Max for free?

I see in the first post under Update #2 that every box has a unique code for every gamer, what exactly does that mean? They have a code for every scenario? Can all of them be used? Like if I wanted to give my friend who is thinking about getting DirecTV the code to get Sunday Ticket for free and $10 off their bill and then I use the code for the Sunday Ticket Max for myself?

So I will now get Sunday Ticket Max now on my TV with Redzone, etc. with the purchase of this edition???

I don't think so, you will get the part of Sunday Ticket Max that allows you to view games on a tablet, PC, etc but then maybe I suppose it's possible that you'd also get the Redzone if they choose not to break it up that way..

Heres how I understand it. There are two bonus options for ST max that ST subscribers don't get. Access on computer, tablets and phones and the Redzone channel. When you get the Madden 25 Anniversary Edition you will get a code to access on live games and the Redzone channel on your comouter, tablet or phone. I dont think youd get Redzone on your TV unless your a new customer signing up for 2 years, but I could be wrong. But you will get Redzone on the computer.

It seems like a good deal to me. Being able to watch games on my IPad while watching other games on my TV.

Being a Sunday Ticket subscriber for 10+ years, if I can save a bit of money by just getting the "Max" upgrade on my TV would be a deal to me. Still no definitive answer though...

# 118 ab2c4 @ 06/01/13 08:34 PM
I am considering this deal but I am wondering if it will let you use more than one mobile device (not at the same time of course), or is it locked to one device. Let's say the 1pm game I am at home and am watching it on my laptop. At 4pm the wife wants to go out shopping, can I then watch the 4:30pm game on my android phone? Say I get home at 6pm then and I feel like watching the rest of a game on my ipad.

Will it let me use multiple devices, and how does it know it is me? Couldn't I give the code to a friend or family and they could use it also? I am hoping someone knows how this works. And for the record I don't have Direct TV nor do I want it, I just want the Sunday Ticket package to watch the games on my various devices.

# 119 BCJMU99 @ 06/04/13 08:45 AM
After much thought I really think I'm just going to jump on this. Like I said before I have had Sunday Ticket for 10+ years but if I can save myself $200+ why not ya know? I got Eagles season tickets this year and many of their games do come on in my area (when the Redskins aren't on). I know I'm going to Chargers, Bucs (in Tampa) and Redskins game this year. Other than that, Eagles will have a few games on Nat TV and then I can hook up my laptop/iMac to watch Sunday Ticket on that from the Madden Anniversary edition. Maybe even DirecTV comes correct and offers me Sunday Ticket to next to nothing since I say I'm cancelling after 10 years...who knows...thoughts??

It's awesome the amount of incentives they have to offer to sell copies. How about make a good football game worth the $60 itself?
