MLB 13 The Show News Post

Another MLB 13 The Show game update has arrived this morning, weighing in at 167 MB. According to The Show Nation, here are the details. As always, let us know what you are seeing.
  • Difficulty fix for ALL Online Modes.

  • Significant Steal Early exploit in on online game

  • Online Game soft hangs when pinch hitting or bringing in a reliever past the 7th inning.

  • Manager mode, the CPU will never setup for double plays. When there are runners on (1st base/1st and 2nd/1st and 3rd/bases loaded) and 0 or 1 outs, the defense would not be in DOUBLE PLAY depth. And turning a double play would result in a looping throw to 2nd base, and the AI would almost never turn the double play. Now, in the runners on base situation, the defense will play in double play depth and gracefully attempt to turn double plays. This previously only affected Manager Mode. Please verify that this change does not affect the general game modes (User vs CPU) in exhibition or season style games

  • Addressed an issue with completed games in the ticker.

Real test for me will be the soft hangs (freeze) whenever a substitution was made in late game situations

I downloaded, but when it goes to install I get an error. Since I attempted to download the pitcher stutter is back bigtime as in almost every third pitch!!!!

I deleted the game data and reinstalled

Is there anyway to just download the previous two patches? (Up to version 1.18)

Any help would be appreciated as this game is unplayable now.

I'm noticing some pitcher stutter again as well. Really messing up my swinging.

Think i might hold off downloading this one until we get more opinions.

Damn, pitch stutter is back? Wouldn't expect something like that from SCEA..

I think I have this bug in RTTS too. Pedroia throws the ball over my SS's head on any close lob throw when trying to turn 2. It has cost us several games even, just recently a 17 inning marathon against the Yankees. I hope this is the same issue, and is now fixed in RTTS also (I did not realize that the rest of the defense may have not been at double play depth even though I was). I will have to test this out later tonight..

Manage only Mode fans rejoice!

Both the CPU and our teams will now automatically set up the correct defense for the situations.
(you can still use the defensive set up screen to set up your defense however you want...overriding the pre-set defense)

Thank you guys!

Doesn't the second patch contain the data from the original patch?
It's always encompassing all the data from previous patches....for those that never installed a previous patch....so that they get all the up-to date fixes.

Yes, but that doesn't necessarily prevent an old bug from reappearing after a new change of program code.

Not sure what he means, but with auto fielding set On in offline games, CPU doesn't always set infield to DP depth with one out and man on first.

If this is happening, there is definitely something wrong with how the code is managed by the developers. There is fairly robust version control systems that prevent this kind of thing from happening (meaning, fixes can be incrementally implemented). I'd be extremely surprised if SCEA weren't using it though.

I'm wondering if there is an way possible the previous patches or even the new patch is compromised because we are mostly downloading data that we already have. 1.21 just adding 5 things so now we're downloading 1.18 for the second time and 1.10 for the third time. Is this possible or am I just reaching?

Just reaching mate - it doesn't duplicate what's already there, it simply overwrites it meaning only one copy remains on the HDD.

Sorry. By all means delete all patches and boot the game up and just grab the latest but nothing will be different.

Nobody's perfect and videogames code is extremely complex. The same bug could originate from two completely different parts of code each modified in two different released patches.

Ya I figured I was reaching. I haven't actually downloaded the update yet myself but reading posts about pitch stutter being back got me thinking. Thanks...

Is anybody else seeing the pitcher stutter after downloading the patch?

This is exactly why any serious developers (which of course include SCEA) would use the version/revision control system (like subversion or git) to manage the code to prevent exactly that type of problem... it's easily preventable, so not using it inexcusable in software development these days.

I hope people give more feedback on pitch stutter. That is by far the most annoying glitch I hope to never see.......

A few have mentioned it, yes. I've not tried yet as I'm still at work, but will report back later on tonight.

Played 2-3 games today - no pitch stutter for me. It's been fixed since the first post-release patch.
