MLB 13 The Show News Post

Another MLB 13 The Show game update has arrived this morning, weighing in at 167 MB. According to The Show Nation, here are the details. As always, let us know what you are seeing.
  • Difficulty fix for ALL Online Modes.

  • Significant Steal Early exploit in on online game

  • Online Game soft hangs when pinch hitting or bringing in a reliever past the 7th inning.

  • Manager mode, the CPU will never setup for double plays. When there are runners on (1st base/1st and 2nd/1st and 3rd/bases loaded) and 0 or 1 outs, the defense would not be in DOUBLE PLAY depth. And turning a double play would result in a looping throw to 2nd base, and the AI would almost never turn the double play. Now, in the runners on base situation, the defense will play in double play depth and gracefully attempt to turn double plays. This previously only affected Manager Mode. Please verify that this change does not affect the general game modes (User vs CPU) in exhibition or season style games

  • Addressed an issue with completed games in the ticker.

It does not. No idea what he's thinking.

So what's the rookie issue?

None of the guys on the game who are actually rookies are classified as such. The only one in the entire game is Wada from the Orioles. So if you do a franchise or season mode there really is nobody in the running for the rookie of the year award cause there aren't any in the game. The only players who ever get rookie status are created prospects. There have been sims I have ran before where not a single player won the ROY award in the first year and the same trash created prospect from the Red Sox wins it in the AL every time with numbers like a .210 avg with 2 HR's and 15 RBI's.

So how this fixed the strikeout problem being too low? I'm not sure how that isn't addressed yet. People say it has been resolved but nothing has changed!

Are you kidding? You either haven't downloaded update 1.18 or the latest that was dropped this morning, or you have no idea what it looked like before the balancing SCEA did.

Yup, it's a real killer, just makes that ROY award look foolish.

Downloaded 1.21 this afternoon.

No stutter, FWIW. 120 GB Slim.

Anybody tracking the type of consoles reporting problems?

Played a game post-patch tonight. Had it stutter twice when I was pitching. But it did that sometimes for me even after 1.18. And it did it sometimes last year too.

Strangely, I don't think my menu music skipped at all.

Played a game in my franchise against Cleveland post patch and didn't notice any stuttering at all. Game went to extras and was in Cleveland and everything played good for me.

Just started my red sox season and two games in not a single stutter with the patch.

No stutter or freezes! This is why I love SCEA.

No stutter for me. Silky smooth (online) game. The difficulty adjustment for DD is very nice as well. The offense was too much pre-patch, but now I feel the mode will be quite tight at the current difficulty level.

I think you're missing his point. He's saying it's possible that the issue in this case is not related to the previous bug, which is more probable than Sony not knowing how to branch, merge and tag their codebase.

No, I'm not kidding and I do know what it looked like before. Am I doing something wrong? I've downloaded every patch but I'm still getting high-90s in strikeouts for the majority of my pitchers. I did notice a slight change in that there are 1-2 players who will get a normal amount of Ks but I just don't understand...

I'd make sure if you applied the patch correctly... the K/9 problem was fixed in the last patch a couple weeks ago on both Vita and PS3.

How would it not be applied correctly? I can't even play the game without it installing. How would I make sure it was applied correctly? Thanks for the help.

I'm recording my game right now so cannot get off to check myself, but I think you can do this by going to XMB and put the focus on The Show and by pressing triangle... you should be able to check the version of the game.

You should also test the stats on SCEA's default roster to see if the issue was fixed or not. If players are rated differently then there's no guarantee that stats line up.

no stuttering issues for me so far after the new patch (thank god). Wonder if the frequency of slowdown when rounding 3rd was ninja tweaked lol (one can hope eh). Hate having to use L1 to get around 3rd w/o slowing down then hoping i can get the other runners back in time.

# 80 HustlinOwl @ 04/10/13 04:29 AM
online league game, no stuttering issues and was able to make several substitutions without a soft hang (freeze)
