I am dissapointed with the commentary. It is a huge let down for me. Yes, people will say turn it off, etc., but announcers make the game for me. I grew up listening to Harry Caray, Chip Caray, and Ralph Kiner. They added value to the overall experience of watching the games. The Show delivers on so many levels, but lags behind so much in broadcasting.
Ok cool, so i guess you never minded when a game botches the pronunciation of a players name?
Re: stuttering.
I have never experienced stuttering in the Show before, outside of a used ps3 I bought at GStop that had a custom HD in it. I swapped that out for a different ps3 and it went away.
In any event, SCEA will look into it i am sure. First day patch maybe if they read this thread and then see it for themselves?
This is one good reason in favor of demos for sports games. Glitches and what not can be found early and then fixed based on feedback.
I love MLB The Show. I really do, the best baseball game ever!. But this anouncing, ouch! Please Sony, you gotta change it for the PS4. Matt V has got to go!..it's time. Steve Lyons, is he really there? Maybe I heard him twice throughout this video. It was kind of hard because the video was recorded with the camera, maybe that's why I am not hearing the full effects.
guys who I would LOVE to commentate for MLB The Show:
Eric Byrnes
Harold Reynolds
Al Leiter
Greg Amsinger
I know a lot of people hate these guys as analysts, but i love them. Plus, they would make the game so much more fun, cause they actually show emotion and crack jokes

How about Hawk Harrelson. You can set the game to 'Homer Mode' and hear Hawk go off on umpires who call anything against the home team, haha!
"He gone!"

Harrelson being in the game would probably be the only thing that would ever stop me from buying The Show.
I buy The Show every year and my biggest gripe the past 2 years is the stale commentary. Most forums, websites and players I talk to say it's the biggest weakness of the game. If 2K can get it right, so can The Show.
This is the first year I won't be buying the game on launch day.
SCEA San Diego, I really hope you guys are given resources to come up with a fresh build next year. This is a bargain bin purchase for me in 2013.
Commentary isn't that hard you need to get the broadcasters and let them sit there and call the game. That's one of the big problems NCAA and Madden have it doesn't feel natural. That's all we want is for the commentary to feel real. It isn't terrible but it could be a lot better I'm still buying the game.
Wow, weeks of complaining about no video, then pages and pages of complaining about one inning of commentary.
I know others care a lot more about commentary than I do (I always turn it off in sports games, I know it's going to get repetitive as much as I play). I readily admit that there's a ton of room for improvement in this area, and I'd like to see good improvement in future years.
Having said that . . . after reading this thread you'd think this was supposed to be a game focused on the guys in the booth. Honestly, if commentary is the most important thing for you . . . I'm not sure why you're looking to a video game to scratch that itch. Heck, do many of you actually watch or listen to baseball broadcasts? The real life guys aren't always that great either. Plus, what does it for one person totally annoys another person (I personally wish Joe Buck was banned from ever coming within 500 yards of a baseball stadium). Baseball commentary is a totally different beast than any other sport, and filling in every dead space isn't necessarily a good solution.
Again, not making excuses, not saying that there's not a ton of room for improvement, just observing that a lot of people seem to approach this with an assumption that there's an easy solution.
Oh, and the people who say it's a roster update . . . check out the Fact Sheet if you haven't yet. I mean . . . c'mon.

SCEA should put Kiner in and add a gameplay option to toggle "commentator variability/inaccuracy" as we can do for umpires....
