Take this screenshot for example?

Do you think it will say 2014 when you play your 2nd season, then 2015....etc.....???

YES. It already does for all these on the field things. Opening day, All Star Game, World Series.

amazing how the season opener, only two things, first the players should wear hats in their hands and second the pitcher should be in line and not in the bullpen.

I know they are kind of maxed on memory usage for the PS3, so it's nice to see that even though there aren't more yearly stats tracked on the card, they track back farther and have annual awards go back a few years as well. Definitely a step in the right direction. Also excited to see and hear all the new presentational stuff throughout the year!

Looks good but one concern. So in 4 years the royals payroll is at 121m. I know its nice to be a fan of a small market team and dream of this after successful seasons, but as the A's have shown having successful seasons does not always equal large payrolls.?

Maybe the Royals three-peated in that franchise?

I mean there are some other PS3 exclusives but The Show was the reason I switched over too, I CAN'T WAIT for the game!

Everything looks amazing, I'm a Franchise guy so I just hope I have enough time to enjoy it all (good thing GTA V was pushed back to a September release date lol)

Looks very promising. I like the focus on improving the meat & potatoes of a good franchise mode -- roster management, progression, scouting/development, access to info -- to compliment what was already a thorough representation of MLB operations.

just to be clear...ticker updates are for the virtual season and not the real life season, right?

I know it may still be a little off, but the players budget was only 92 million, the royals have gone as high as 78 in 2010 and thats only 40 man roster..in game its for all 90 players..

If you look at the screen, the Player Salary is at $91.88M and the Staff Salary is at $16.76M. Their payroll is only at $108.64M but they have room to add $12.61M.

I don't think staff salary is included in the MLB's luxury tax threshold which is what fans typically consider to be the teams payroll. The player salary in 2017 of $91.88M seems reasonable since they have a ~$75M payroll currently and some playoff runs could increase that budget in theory.

On another note, the number ratings are very odd to see in this game.

Edit: OR what MLB Bob said

Great blog.

It seems at long last Franny mode really got the love its needed for a couple of years now.

The draft and in particular scouting strategy leading up to the draft takes on a whole new level of importance now.

Looking forward to tabarnes thoughts on this later.

Budgets are not 1-to-1 representations of the real MLB budgets.

Why wasn't there pictures for a lot of the players?

I assumed so, others where concerned about the Royals having such a high budget, I was trying to explain why its not that inaccurate. The post below me said the exact same thing...maybe just more clear..I wasnt complaining

Looking forward to this game so much...wish we had "fake" rosters to start with until OSFM comes out..

That, but if he was asking about 1:33-1:37, those guys are free agents in the franchise and wouldn't have their photos anymore - they'd be replaced with the cyberfaces and an appropriate cap when they sign.

As for Wilson, since he's a real-life free agent right now I'm guessing that's why he has a photo + that MLB cap. Will probably change if he signs, but whether he'd have a photo or a cyberface remains to be seen.
