This was not in at CES build and it wasn't going to be in this years game.

However.........................I walk into the office this morning and Br....Woodweaver pulls me into his office and says "is this what they want?" I look at him with the crazy eyes and go yeah that's it. Is it going to break something else? Then another conversation ensued anyway long story short. He made an 12:01 change to satisfy you guys.

*in my best Ramone voice*

Winner winner, chicken dinner!

What can't you guys do?
And this is more than just being able to put something in.... it's going above and beyond what was required/expected for this community (and a minority of consumers).
Well done.

So, just as a point of clarification:

Ramone pointed out that the Pitch Callout option referred specifically to the information displayed in/around the strike zone. It should have no affect on the information displayed in the score bug. So, no new option. The pitch type/speed will just always be displayed in the score bug regardless of the Pitch Callout setting.

So, you want the just the pitch speed to show ALL the time regardless of the call out setting?

For example, with call out set to SIMPLE or FULL, you will see CH 82 MPH flash in the score bug, but with OFF you will just see 82MPH?

THIS IS AMAZING! And why I really hope some form of request/feedback thread is opened for the short window that Russell described.

Although I am a bit confused.

Did everyone want the pitch type in the scorebug? I was thinking only the MPH would be displayed like a broadcast.

I can't recall if the pitch type is displayed or not in MLB 12. I rarely looked at it since I always have pitch callout on. Or was it? I cant remember now.

Either way I could care less at this point! This is pretty big.

Edit: Nope, its always been that way. Never really noticed since I keep the pitch callout on. Glad that its in the game at all! Maybe something to tweak for broadcast presentation purposes though later on.

Not a big deal of course but I am kind of in agreement that we should only see the MPH on the scorebug and not the Pitch Type. Just like how it's done on real baseball boardcasts.

Maybe it could be changed for MLB 14 The Show if it's already to late for 13.

Reading back it was going to be just changing the scorebug callout, not exactly what we wanted, but ultimately it got done correctly. Just not with the spitch type removed as well. But with such a last minute change I don't see how they could have it only display the MPH since the callout has it already configured to show both. I'd assume that new setting just separates the two (scorebug display and strike zone callout) and only displays the scorebug now.

I'd think that changing the scorebug display would require some graphical work on the display since it would need to be changed to only show the MPH. I don't know if that's as simple as not displaying the text for pitch type.

In MLB 14 The Show here is how I hope it will be.

In stead of seeing "Pitch Type/MPH" we will now see "Pitch Count/MPH"

So it will always show the Pitch Count and then after every pitch it will flash the MPH and then go right back to "Pitch Count" before the next pitch!

I consider it a trade-off, at least until we get flame animations and the sort.

I think that info is valuable to a video game player because visually you can't differentiate between different pitch types that are close (5-7mph) - but still want that info while batting.

You know the saying give you an inch comes to mind right now.

Yes, but I'd like to think that if you want that much info you'd also want to at least know where the ball was exactly in the zone by having simple callout turned on. So you would still get that.

It could be another option to have the pitch type displayed or not, but then its getting a bit cluttered in that setting. I'd actually be interested in a setting that only gave the strike/ball location callout and the MPH, no pitch type. Customization is great, but not essential all the time.

Its purely to make things more like a broadcast. They already went as far as making the score bar a scorebug, that indicated to me that they are working closer to getting a full broadcast presentation in the game. Inch by inch. This was another step in that direction and I am very grateful for it.

As it is now as I understand it the scorebug will always display the pitch callout even if pitch callout is off? There is no way to remove it from the scorebug? I wouldn't but I can see some people wanting it off for some reason.

But this is still HUGE!

Short response. Thank you guys....

I don't post here much, but I just wanted to reiterate that the past few pages of comments alone show why the community thinks so highly of this development team.

The fact that multiple developers would be willing to go into specific details of what the community members were looking for and then invest the time in adding the functionality to the game at this late stage (or after development is supposed to have ended) really speaks volumes about their dedication to not only the sport, but also to their customers.

Thank you all so much.

This was pretty much my biggest pet peeve in the game not replicating something a TV broadcast does, as i have pitch callout off and always wanted the pitch speed to remain there.

Woodweaver - you are a god amongst men.

Thankyou.

I just wanted to add I will try playing with pitch callout off now that I can get ALL the important info I need in the scorebug without having the visual overlays on.

I'm curious to those who also wanted this feature.

Do you play with the strike zone off?

If you have it on do you plan to turn it off?

Hotzones?

I plan to have everything off, this feature seems meaningless if you don't try to get that broadcast presentation that it gives.

I don't even care about this feature, but this kind of response is awesome. and I'm very glad to hear pitch history colors have been fixed. That's been bugging me for a few years.

I play with hot zones and strike zone off, pitch on simple and am looking forward to eliminating as much on screen info as possible. I have no problem waiting for pitch counts..if it ever makes it in.

Man....how could you NOT want to buy and play this game?
The dev team never ceases to amaze me.

Excellent.

I'm really speechless right now. The pitch callout thing was not a big deal to me, since I like having the pitch callout turned to FULL anyway...

but just the fact that the dev team would take the time to put a random request like that in... the fact that they are even reading this thread... I just can't put in words how impressive, admirable, and flat out awesome it is to do something like that. I'm sitting in my chair staring at this message box and all I can think of is "wow."
