MLB 13 The Show News Post

Here is one of the better videos of MLB 13 The Show, coming from CES 2013. In this video, you can clearly see the new scorebug, Russell mentions you can turn off all On Screen Displays (OSD's), a very brief look at Franchise, Jeter's stance is fixed and more.

Aww, no Cutch (or Miggy) for Canada? That makes me a bit sad.

Hit variety and ball physics are so much ****ing better!

Awesome new fielding and throwing animations!

Presentation score overlays (those which you can also hide) look beautiful, as well as that franchise menu!

Gimme now!!

Hurray for turning off displays! I'm also intrigued by the "tool" section for scouting.

My guesses:

Bicep - raw strength/ability
Barbell - work ethic/aptitude
DNA - bloodlines/projectability
Hand - ?
Glove - fielding ability
The hand symbol has a "L" on it, so my guess would be he primarily scouts lefty specialist pitching?

I hope there is a more realistic behind the pitcher camera angle. I forget what all of the options are from last year, but the default one they have been showing in videos is far too much to right.

Also, as this is an early copy of the demo, I'm hopeful that the walk ups have been changed, as in this video EVERY BATTER does the exact same identical pre-at bat walk up animation with the little bat twirl.

We've had numerous custom player walk ups for years...wouldn't make any sense to give somebody like Derek Jeter a generic walk up animation now.

Unless it's the camera angle, it seems that pitchers do not stand straight up on the rubber anymore. Also, boy oh boy is it nice to see those fouled off pitches not go to the upper decks. AND A-Rod has glasses on at the dish. This game is tits...

I'm not too sure but I think fast play was enabled in the video

WoW MLB 13 The Show new scorebug is even better then TBS's

I am crossing my fingers that MLB 13 The Show's little box with the "Pitch Type", "Ball Placment" "Swing Info" has the "Pitch Count" just like the TBS box in your screenshot

Manage only Mode has the pitch count broken down by balls/strikes at all times on the screen.
Perhaps it's time you switched to that!

You need something to read while you are waiting for the action to get moving!

Manage only mode is not for me as like love taking control of the action on the field

However I do like watching CPU VS CPU games a lot when I don't feel like playing.

Also sounds like the presentation for post season games is going to be fantastic!

The game looks great. I like the new ball physics now I wont be penalized all the time when I make supurb contact anymore. One thing that does bother me (albeit minor) judging from the video a few players were wearing sunglasses while batting so I'm going to assume (unless it's posted somewhere and I didn't see it) no option for open or closed roof this year for particular stadiums that would have that option. All in all though game looks good as it always has. Looks like it plays a little better too.

What is the deal with Robinson Cano's stance? That is awful and looks nothing like his real stance. I thought last years was fine.

so far 7 minor leagues and/or ST stadiums announced but nothing about closed roof versions. A bit disappointing with all emphasis on Playoff mode....playing under freezing weather in Tor, Mil or Seattle.

This was a demo version of the game (nowhere close to finished product) Pretty sure in the final product he will have the correct stance.

I've noticed that not every player sports the Nike undershirt and I saw in the Tigers video that was posted earlier that Cabrera had a tigers logo and some other logo on his turtleneck....I wonder if we will have a option to have them wear Nike undershirts?

FreezeTime just confirmed (in the CES thread of his) no closed roof options this year. Oh well always next year. Still great game overall and a first day purchase. Just one small nuance that's not in that we can all live with.
