NBA 2K13 News Post


The NBA 2K13 patch has arrived for PS3 and 360. The details on the patch haven't been released yet, but we'll update this post as soon as they are available.

UPDATE: NBA 2K13 Patch Details

GAMEPLAY
  • Improved AI rebounding logic to balance out offensive rebound frequency.
  • Tuned AI transition defense; users will now have more fast break opportunities against the CPU. Additionally, CPU teammates are now more able to guard their opponents on the break.
  • Long range passes are now less accurate and will result in more fumbled and missed catches.
  • Passing successfully out of a double team has been tuned to be slightly more difficult.
  • Tuned the logic behind Charging calls so that they are properly called. Charges will now sometimes be called when the defender is in position and stationary, even if he is not in the “Take Charge” animation.
  • Tuned timing on block animations, and made the AI more vigilant about blocking layups and dunks.
  • Improved reach-in foul detection when defender continually swipes at the ball, results in more called fouls where appropriate.
  • AI now only calls for a full court press in appropriate situations (i.e. late in the game).
  • Addressed two dunk animations that were not counting for a score when they were converted.
  • Fixed an issue where Replay would show the incorrect play, rather than what actually happened on the court.
  • AI positioning when running plays has been tuned so that big men with limited shooting range will not move further away from the basket than what their range allows.
  • AI teammates will now remain in the Post Up position longer when a Quick Post play is called for them.
  • Tuned alley-oop and putback dunks such that only players who have a high tendency to perform either move are able to finish with one.
  • Removed the restrictions for the ‘Microwave’ Signature Skill such that it now works regardless of whether you are already on a hot or cold streak.
  • When a block is recorded for a player with the ‘Eraser’ Signature Skill, only the shooting attributes of the blocked player are lowered.
  • Fixed a rare issue where a traveling violation would be called on a pass fake.
  • Referee Review on last shot will no longer play if the shot has no effect on the outcome of the game.
  • A number of other smaller changes have been made to address issues and enhance the user experience.
  • Tuned three-point percentage.
GENERAL
  • NIKEiD shoes will now appear properly in-game after being equipped to a player.
  • Addressed an issue where the game score would disappear in Blacktop games when Signature Highlights were viewed in the pause menu.
  • Fixed an issue where Free Throw Feedback would no longer appear in games after playing an Online MyTEAM game.
  • Addressed an issue in Online MyTEAM games where the away team player would have the Signature Skills of the home team player if identical players were used in the game by both players.
  • Music will no longer be disabled and Game Settings will no longer revert back to Default when completing an online game in MyTEAM.
  • Changed the difficulty settings for all of the seeds in MyTEAM.
  • (360) Addressed a Kinect issue where a misleading overlay would appear when a timeout was called through a voice command when no timeouts were remaining.
MyCAREER
  • Added additional warning re: conversion of an online MyCAREER (one that earns VC) to an offline MyCAREER (one that earns Skill Points).
  • Fixed an issue where the remainder of the user’s schedule would appear empty after participating in the various All-Star Weekend events. This change also carries over to Association/Season modes.
  • ‘Run Plays’ and ‘PlayVision’ should now function properly (when activated), regardless of your MyPLAYER’s position.
  • Fixed an issue where all games in October would be simulated when ‘Play Next Game’ is selected after the start of a new season.
  • Users playing MyCAREERs that accrue Skill Points will no longer find themselves with negative skill points after played games (where a number of unlikely conditions were all met).
  • Addressed a rare hang that would occur if the “Defend Your Home Court” billboard commercial would play between quarters of the Rising Stars Challenge or All-Star game.
  • Addressed a number of issues with the Social Media feature, including one where the news feed would stop updating completely.
  • When changing teams via free agency in the offseason, your MyPLAYER will now receive the proper role (starter, sixth man, etc.) that was promised during the contract negotiation.
  • You will no longer fail the Dynamic Goal “Give your team the lead before the game ends” when subbed out before the end of the game.
  • The Teammate Chemistry rating on the “Play Next Game” loading screen should now display the correct value (as seen in the Social Media menu).
  • The volume of the menu music and sound effects will no longer become extremely quiet after playing consecutive games in MyCAREER.
ASSOCIATION
  • 3PT Tendency progression logic has been rewritten to correctly model the growth variances within each player type in the game. This change also carries over to MyCAREER mode.
  • Users will no longer lose their Scouting Reports after viewing the Recent Games tab of a player card.
  • Birth years can now be set to later than 1993 when editing Draft Classes after the first season of Association.
  • Addressed a rare hang that would occur when attempting to participate in the Dunk Contest with a created player assigned to a created team.
  • (Association: Online) Offense and Defense options should now save properly when using the Total Sim Control feature.
  • (Association: Online) Admins will now have access to appropriate Commissioner Tools during the offseason.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (MyCAREER, Association, etc.).

Yes it has, just because Kobe made a few threes doesn't change the fact. I have a 3pt shooting team in Myteam mode and my % has dropped drastically after the patch.

I use to routinely shoot 8-12 with Curry from 3pt andI have a picture of it in the momentum forum....... since the patch I'm always under 50%. Before the patch I could easily hit 3-5 in a row, not anymore.

One guy I played against missed 4 wide open 3s with Durant, I never seen this before the patch. Does the CPU ever miss a open 3.....well we shouldn't either. 2k11 had it right.

3pt shooting was messed up in 2k12 and seems like the patch in 2k13 is very similar to the flawed system in 2k12 that made you shoot 4-10 from 3pt land even if every shot was unguarded and wide open with a perfect release.

Even if I have played few games after the patch, I feel that 3pt% has been generally toned down, but it's even lower if you are not taking good shoots. For example, yesterday I went 5-5 from 3 in an pro-exhibition game in Myteam, taking only wide open 3s with d curry and maxwell

This is why the patch will NOT touch my system. I haven't expienced a lot of what ppl are complaining about(freezing ect) just playing good sound bball, and expect to have off nights...

I like the fact that they tuned the reach in fouls/ very realistic in my opinion.
missing more 3s-like that also. now it forces me to probably look for a higher percetage shot. call more plays etc.
-didnt have an issue with rebounding before-but the patch has made the rebounding more balanced.
-I believe the AI controlled teams now run more plays.

-game play was solid before the patch, now it feels more polished

only issue is with the the commentary-it still cuts out, then when it comes back it is actually out of sync with the game play. then when you exit the game or try tosave it the system will freeze.

The slider is not broken, the problem is that there are very few contact shot animations for the up and unders.

Now the CPU can stop it, Strength plays a big part in that I believe as I can get up and unders with Scola against avg big men but going up against Blake he was constantly shutting it down with contact animations. No, my problem isn't the All Star Game, I'm at first season play-offs, and my game is freezing at loading screen but I read a solution, before playing game I edit my player goatee or hair and it works. Now, I can play MyCareer.

Wow smh this is why I keep my reading on this site to a minimal. Because I don't want to know how 2 cheese the CPU for easy buckets.

I wish 2k didn't listen to them B. That is a realistic mechanic that I saw take place several times IRL last night in Heat vs. Spurs. Still like this game but 2k14 is in desperate need of lobbies so people who want to engage in a more realistic quick game of hoops where defender presence actually means something can do so.

Inside Shot? As in the success slider? Or the Inside Contact shot slider?

Layup success or Layup defense strength (gather and release)?

Also raising Block and DAWR aint going to do anything since D12 is already in the 90s in those ratings, he can only go to 99 not anything higher, so having the slider that high isn't doing much different than having it at 60.

Please define what you are doing, otherwise no one can help you out.

Also if you are doing post shots, inside success slider doesn't effect that much, low post shot is also a factor and there is not slider for that.

Contact sliders only affect how much contact should happen.

Layup/Shot def. strengths don't change the strength of the defense, all it does is weigh which part of the shot matters more on defense.

ah, yes, something an 8 year-old would do and enjoy...

nearly every video game I've played has cheese to it, and some house rules. why would you abuse something just for the sake of doing so?

All the people complaining...........Yall crazy



I played couple more games last night. I don't know what many of yall are playing. The game plays fantastic for me on simulation setting. It is easily best sport game of the year. All I can see is if people are complaining about this game, then sports developers need to just hang it up because they will never be able to make a sport game people like.

Now I'm not saying it is perfect but it is clearly better than 99.9% of the sports games we have currently on any console.

While yall continue to look for perfection, I'll be sitting here enjoying this glorious basketball game!

Late button response times still exist in this game. The unresponsiveness just cost me a match online. Still see some players being able to just drive through people, but I like some of the other changes.

Pressing a button and seeing an action after a second or two, or not seeing any action happen at all, is awful though.

Please fix the lighting Barclays Center. The court for the Brooklyn Nets was patched, but the lighting in the crowd still needs to be dimmed

I say get a better connection and this won't happen. I have played couple games online and have not ran into this yet. Granted my internet is ballin though to.

Yea I got one of the best connections on OS. Our area is one of the leaders in the country in fiber technology. Best part is I pay $44 bucks for that connection which is faster than 99% of the country.

Left trigger timing combined with right stick movement towards shooter seems to create more blocking opportunities than pressing y button(360). Atleast in my experience. There really is no sure fire way to get realistic amount of blocks imo.

The button response lag is in off-line as well.
