MLB 13 The Show is scheduled to arrive in stores on March 5, 2013 for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita, just in time for Spring training. For the first time, fans will decide who is on the cover of the game, as the cover campaign rolls out in January. Candidates will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Nothing compares to Postseason baseball. That’s why The Show offers an All-New Playoff Mode, which includes an in-stadium atmosphere that replicates the excitement and tension of October baseball. The experience is unrivaled by anything The Show has ever exhibited.

Other new features include a completely new beginner mode and instructional enhancements that make The Show the best pick-up and play baseball experience available. In addition, the improved Play Now mode streamlines gameplay, for faster and simpler games. San Diego Studios has also revamped The Show’s Franchise and Road To The Show modes with expanded options and new gameplay experiences.

Taking The Show on the road? The PS Vita version of The Show features the same list of upgrades and new features as the PS3 version. As with last year, you can sync your Season, Franchise and Road to the Show saves between platforms to continue the action anywhere. MLB The Show also offers the opportunity to play with friends around the world at no extra cost on PlayStation Network.

These are just a few of the enhancements San Diego Studios have made to the 2013 version of The Show. All new features and game modes will be unveiled and detailed throughout the coming months.

hopefully kimbrel will be an option....he will get my vote, even though i think it's a long shot for him

i can't wait to see what the enhancements are for franchise mode...the game is already incredible and with franchise improvements added, this game will be out of this world

Any improvements to Sounds of the Show? More situations to set stuff to?

If i could like this more than once i would. I never understood why people always want the game to go faster, it is baseball one of the longest played games in sports and the game simulates that. I love getting to play 45 minutes to an hour of baseball on this game to see all the beauties of The Show.

Absolutely! Last year SCEA had a bug the first month or so where the speed of the game was automatically set on normal. So slow speed was not working at all. It was a horrible first month for me. In fact I barely played it at all the first month because of it. I hate to say it but it was sort of a game breaker for me.

My setting is slow and absolutely love it. I don't feel rushed and I get that feeling where pitchers have different delivery speeds. Buehrle and Verlander get right after it after they throw and other pitchers take more time. I love that feeling. Sure I only get one game or so in at a time but it's so worth it. It also gives me time to think about what to throw and what pitch I could see. That's baseball in a nutshell.

I do understand people that want fast paced games because they don't have as much time. However, even if I was extremely busy I don't think I could possibly play at any speed higher than slow. It just doesn't feel right at all. There's no time to think at all.

Hopefully we get the option of opened or closed roofs this year. Fingers crossed

Open + Closed roofs, imported draft classes, and a really revamped franchise (not just minor adds) would be amazing. Not counting on create-a-stadium until next gen.

Generated pitch count was a popular feature in the old ASB 2005 game.
Not everybody has time to play 1 game of baseball that might take an hour and half.
Though, there are some out there like me, who love the slow burn, generated count does have its place. I'd even wager a bet that half [probably more] of the people who play baseball games, wouldn't mind a feature that would knock 15 or 20 minutes off the overall play time.

Glad Sony recognizes that there are people who want a streamlined experience, as well as ones who want a full on simulator of the game we see on tv.

SCEA always shoots for making both camps happy.
Thats probably why its light years above the other sports sims, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, etc.

As far as the cover vote, I wonder if they go the EA route and have a big bracket. Though in the article it says this:

Stay tuned — some of the top names in the sport will be announcing their candidacy in the upcoming weeks.
...seeing as the players themselves will be part of it, makes me think it wont be 30 guys or so, like madden.

By my calculations, seeing as you had a bad experience with the present franchise mode, wouldn't a revamp make you feel better, not worried?

Well, they certainly better not have been devoting all this time to Vita again. That thing is barely selling, though it does need more games, and they had all the code base set up. I think we should be seeing some major improvements in many areas this year.

Some of us wish they had spent more time on the Vita version, in the areas of presentation and post-release support (i.e. patches).

When I got home I was ecstatic about hearing the release date. I was glad to here that they are making improvements on franchise and RTTS and I was very astonished when I saw the nike symbol on Cutch and Kemps undershirt. I also think its great that they are adding a playoff mode.
But there is one thing that would make this game just perfect, and that would be overhauling the commentary. Over the past few The Show games I have noticed that the commentary is starting to get very bland.I have played MLB 2K and the commentary is the best in any sports game (Besides NBA 2K) that I have ever had in a game.
Since MLB 2K will not be making a game anytime soon I think The Show should try to get the broadcasters on 2K to be on The Show. Or at least get people you have heard say the announcers on ESPN.
Ever since I heard that this game is being worked on I have been very excited, and I will be saving some cash for March, 5 2013!

Is that all it takes you to play a single game? wow mine take much longer... 2hrs plus but def not complaining... of course i let everything play out from the opening scene through the final out.

Hope they updated the catchers' equipment. The one major eye sore on an otherwise beautiful game.

EDIT: Saw the Posey pic. Looks the same.

I thought I remember reading a few years back they were working on a couple different models of catcher equipment...these are early screens so there's still hope.

Yeah, IDK, hopefully. They are using the same models from the ps2 games. As a former catcher myself, its tough to look at.
