Good point. In fact most of the league is around 3-4 on average, which means there should be less than that on occasion. And sometimes more too.

I don't know, seems like they did a pretty good job with this tuner. Happy gamer here.

The AI on your squad seems smarter, the AI on the CPU seems a bit dumb, but it does feel better. The only real way to try penalties is play 20 minute periods. If you change the time, you change everything. The game does seem to play different in all the modes. Play Now vs Season is way different.

I wonder is season/BeaGm really different compared to Play now... I think there is difference but I'm not sure.

Sadly, I'm not seeing an increase in penalties. The game plays a lot better, but in 7 minute periods, I haven't seen one called so far yet.

I play 10 minutes in be a gm since i have a heavy sports gaming rotation. I see mixed results which are awesome. I dont want a set amount of penalties per game.

Ive had games where cpu lives in the box and vice versa. Ive had dirty games by both clubs and ive had some clean games. Im happy with the results, but hey, ive only been a hockey fan for 8 days so i probably dont know what im saying. :0

Is it back? I don't have the game but I'm getting it once the penalty problem is fixed, which this tuner seems to have done.

I (and many others) will say that this is true. This game is just a blast to play. I would highly recommend picking it up now

im pretty sure it has something to do with being logged online while youre playing.
try signing off the ea servers before playing and see if that works.
so far its worked for me.
Splitter, thanks for the tip. I have signed out on BeaGM and have played 6 games without any hesitations are freezes. Everyone having issues with the lock ups, give it a try seemed to do the trick for me. Thanks again Splitter!

You're spot on! The game is very changeable and that's great. I had a few 10min period games where the CPU only took one or two, then this happened. All 3 pen sliders maxed, aggression flicked up one notch for the CPU at three apiece. I was Vancouver (won 6-3) and was 3 up in four minutes and was content to let LA take long range shots. Obviously my powerplay needs work. It does prove that pens are in the game for anybody deciding on a purchase or not.

1.04...
BeaGM, offline, all-star, 12-min periods, max penalty sliders, cpu diff-3, etc.
Couple things I notice with this patch...
Penalties are up...thank god.
Goals are harder to come by, power-play now a bigger factor to games outcome. Anther plus with patch 1.04.
CPU seems to shoot less and carry the puck more. Most games I play, I feel like I am controlling the game flow and very rarely get hemmed into my own zone. Not sure I like this issue, has anyone else noticed this and if so, were you able to find a good setting to combat this issue?

Small sample size, but after 2 games with 1.04 I definitely saw an increase in penalties. I took others' advice and put the sliders on Default, then upped the penalties, CPU penalties, and hitting power. Remember I was coming from playing 5 games in GM Connected with literally ZERO penalties called against the CPU, compared to 5-6 per game for the human team.

Game 1 with 1.04, halfway through the first I got my first PP — a 4:00 double-minor for getting high-sticked in the face. Towards the end of that PP the CPU took a second penalty (tripping) and I had a nice 5-on-3 for a little while. CPU took one more later on and the totals for the game were 3 CPU penalties vs 4 human penalties using 8-min periods. Could use a few more (and there were a few CPU roughing/interference hits that went uncalled), but overall definitely a nice change of pace getting a few PP's.

In game two I brought the hitting slider back down a notch and the game settled down a bit... 2 human penalties to 2 CPU penalties (one for slashing and one delay of game for the goalie shooting it over the glass). Again I'd like to see a few more calls with the penalty sliders maxed, and maybe I will with more games; I know 2 games is too small a sample size to make a final judgment. Also hopeful these results will continue with a GMC co-op teammate (as these were in GMC but only played singleplayer). But 1.04 has certainly made a difference... zero PP's in 5 games prior, 5 PP's in two games with the new tuner. Kudos, Redshirt and EA.

Because with 10 minute periods and those three sliders maxed, I'm getting great results with everything else being default Pro settings.
Eight-minute periods. No slider adjustments. Everything default. Pro.

The game is alot harder I play offline on pro with 10 minute periods I did not notice what tuner I had but it seemed like more penalties were called. I like the that it is harder more competative good selection of the variety of goals scored. Lost a seven game series playing with the rangers against Ottawa in 6 games. In the second round after beating Pittsburgh with Philly in five but all games very close. Now against the rangers i am up 1 game to 0 but this game is also close with me wining in overtime after coming from a 3- 0 deficit. But this is the first game I have played that i had more power plays than my opponent. So lets see if this trend continues? It has been an ongoing problem that I have lived with since NHL 08 offline but I am a huge Hockey fan and it is fun game to play with its shortcomings. I know its early and I will get some flak but the announcing team needs to change something new or fresh to revitalize the franchise.

According to NHL.com, during the regular season, NHL games averaged seven power plays per regular season game. So far I have played ten offline BeaGM games and have averaged 6.3 power-plays per game (10min periods). Kudos patch 1.04, kudos. I actually have a player rated in the top ten for PPG's!

I had a tripping penalty called on me earlier in the week when I poke checked the puck clean without any stumble from the player. Increased tripping sounds scary.

PK why are you playing on pro difficulty? Grow some balls and go to all star.

Cause they're young , full of piss and vinegar and why online sportsgaming continues to be more headache then enjoyment

After reading the positive feedback in this thread I updated my copy of nhl 13 for the first time having ignored the other tuners.

Just completed two games in my BaGM as Edmonton. I am playing 8 min periods on pro, true broad cast. Moments in a cpu team mate gets called for tripping. It was the only pk I had for the game but the cpu gave up 4 penalties. I went 0 from 4 but was scored on short handed. I laughed to myself thinking how I have to adjust having my pp out on the ice for a significant amount of time during a game. I hung on to come away with a scrappy 2-1 win.

Next up I am away at Colorado and have a blinder. The cpu gave up three penalties and I went 3 from 3 and caved in the Avs to the tune of 8-0. That its the biggest win and the highest score I have recorded with nhl 13.

Only two games down with this tuner and it is immediate improvement. Seriously, how fun is it having the PP as a regular part of the action?

Good work EA.
