Is everyone seeing the increased penalties continue as you play more games with 1.04?

It could be an anomaly, but my first few games the CPU took 3-4 penalties each game. Now I've played a handful more and my last few games the CPU has gotten called for zero again... including at least a few pretty blatant missed calls where I was thrown to the ice while trying to get to a loose puck.

Anyway, it's still a pretty small sample size, so maybe I just had a few games with replacement refs. But I was starting to think the AI "learned" not to take penalties or something, as my penalties haven't been nearly as high as when I first downloaded the tuner. Just wondered if everyone else was still getting the penalty calls they were getting when 1.04 first came out. If so, I'm sure this is just a coincidental penalty dry spell.

I'm also still on a little to few games to have an accurate sample size. But I've seen very varied results, and like I've described above, it seems very much tied to if the CPU has the lead or not, if players are tired and out of position.

The latter (position) was very evident as me and a buddy played offline co-op, and had a few beers. Two slightly intoxicated human players on the same team, and our CPU team mates (not us) was getting called loooooads!!! I think due to us dancing around in the wrong positions.

But yeah, I've seen some blatant calls gone unnoticed, as well as seen som very silly roughing calls.

Should i increase the fatigue effect to force more penalties?
I wish the simple answer was YES!
But I think all I can say is: Try it out...
I'm playing 9 minute periods myself, and I'm seeing probably 3-9 calls total per game, which is very varied, but it feels that it's more calls late in the periods when players are tired and out of position... and as mentioned, If you get a big lead, you'll probably see more cpu penalties.

Had 2 games today and had the following occur (and NO i dont believe in a cpu comeback before a flame war begins, but this irritated me today)

1. had a goalie go to reach down and put his glove on the puck only to have him scoop it and go to pass. instead of passing it he moved his glove in a way that you would think he was making a glove save and threw the puck in my own net.

2. had multiple 2 on 1's against me and on a few the goalie moved over to the guy without the puck, moved FAR out and seem to have froze. the puck carrier simply took it to the net and put it in the now vacant net while my goalie never moved at all after going to the other man.

3. Up 2 goals with 40 left the cpu shoots and scores from the point. they win the face off, bounce off 2 checks of mine, shoot it THROUGH a defense man that went down to block it and score. next face off I win they drill me (good hit no doubt) put a wrister on net that my goalie never moves on (no traffic in front) and score to tie. Next play I get called for a penalty at center ice yet MY GOALIE skates to the bench and they score on a wide open net. Wth just happened?
it was like this for me in all tuners.
I had to put the game n hardcore and slow down the game speed and all shot speeds and accuracy.

I dont thinki 1.04 changed anything that would make the game easier.

Just played a game, 10 minute periods & got 9 minor penalties called. 4 on the CPU. A big improvement from the 1 or 2 penalties before the tuner update.

Just had an interesting time of it. Changed difficulty up to all star after going on a 9 game winning streak on pro, true broadcast 48 games into my Bagm. I had 2 PP, but the cpu had a staggering 10 and didnt score on any of them. I am playing 8 min periods, won the game 5-4 including a brilliant short handed break away tally to Nugent Hopkins.

I am seeing tons of penalties with this tuner. Last game the cpu gave me 5 and I had 2.

the penalties at times seem like a bit much. I played Vancouver and had 3 5 on 3's in the game, but then again I have seen the Canucks spend quite a bit of time in the box.
Glad to hear it is behaving normally for you now. It is still worrying because if you two guys both had something weird going on the odds are pretty good whatever it was is affecting lots of other people too.

with NHL 12 I noticed if I deleted my game data after every game I play and re installed the game the game wouldnt freeze on me. Did this my last 50 something games I played with NHL 12 and it never froze. forgot to do it twice and it froze each time.
It's hard to say what it was. Assuming everything is functioning properly then maybe it helped by resetting all of your sliders (though just changing game style would do that too). Otherwise it is possible that something isn't functioning properly.

I also can't explain what you saw with NHL12... it is very strange. Where did it freeze (e.g. in menus, in the middle of gameplay, during stoppages, in different places, etc)?

I'm experiencing that very high gamespeed now, in Play now with gamestyle hardcore and no sliders touched. Patched game, 1.04 tuner and everything. Gotta see if its still the same tomorrow when my xbox has cooled down, i'm not an expert with these machines but this has happened three times now and I think they have occurred after game has been running straight for 2-3 hours...

edit: I played Be a GM few games and then wanted to fool around in Play now. In Be a GM speed was normal and then in Play now it was really fast, felt like gamespeed maxed.

Very strange. It would be worth double checking the settings. When you are in a Be A GM (or Be A Pro) I'm pretty sure the settings are orphaned off from the main settings, so if you change them within the Be A Pro they only apply there. Maybe that's what is going on? It is worth checking. I wouldn't think that machine being left on for a few hours would be able to cause anything like that.

Sounds like how MVP would run on my PC sometimes (double speed) when i used to play that game. I finally found out that you had to turn v-sync off but I guess that doesn't apply here.

So what kind of sliders are used in online ranked vs games? My offline play now on all-star hardcore gamestyle is like 50% faster than online ranked.

Allstar/Normal.

Can anyone confirm anything about the effect of 1.04 after deleting game data? I got frustrated with my BaGM cause I felt like injuries were too high and my CAP with 99 durability was getting injured for 6-7 weeks at a time. But that's beside the point. I still wasn't fully satisfied with penalties (I've mentioned before still avg. 5-6 penalties overall per game but I'm only getting about 2 PP/game)

So I decided to delete everything except my roster save and start from scratch. This time, BaP with my own CAP, rather than BaGM. I d/led the tuners, modded the sliders to my own, and the first BaP game I had, my team took 2 penalties and the CPU Rangers took 7. I went 2/7 on the PP, but since it's BaP, I simmed to next shift for the most part so I didn't see the penalties but I was on the PP1 line so I got a lot of PP action.

I'm just trying to figure out if it's because BaP only allows you to play full 20 min periods (even though I only have about 20+ min total shift time), or because I reinstalled all game data/tuners from scratch, or pure coincidence.

And how are everyone's sim stats regarding penalties? I know for the first 40 games of my former BaGM which were all simmed (before game data reinstall, 1.04, 10 min per. on all-star) I was still last on power play attempts by like 10 attempts. Does period length really affect the amount that get called even if the penalty scaling slider is at 0?

I think the majority of casual gamers, online gamers, and casual TV sports viewers prefer fast-paced, high-scoring games, no matter what sport it is. The main reasons, if you will, I hear from friends about why they don't like baseball and golf, for example, are because they are "slow" and "boring." Faster games usually means bigger hits, high-octane offenses, and more appeal to the casual fan.

With stats being even more available, detailed, and maybe even overhyped, people want to see numbers. There are fewer and fewer people who can enjoy a 1-0 pitching duel in baseball, a 7-6 defensive struggle in football. I've always been one for realistic stats in games, and I'm a huge sports fan all around, and I can't find anyone that still enjoys some "old-school" type games, for lack of a better description (and I'm only 26). Also, the increasing popularity of fantasy sports may have an effect.

That said, I love creating myself as an 18-21 y.o. rookie in all simulation sports games I play, which is just about all of them (except Madden since you can't so I don't play that this year), I am highly involved in fantasy football and I'll admit more points and faster play usually translates to more exciting, but I still enjoy a lot of parts of the all sports that most would consider "boring" and those like me are few and far between.

I don't understand the question -- those settings don't make it faster.

What is so fast paced about game speed of 3, seems about right to me.

Remember this game is played on ice not dirt.

Happened again and this time i'm sure about it. Same sequence: Played Be a GM for 2-3 hours, skating speed went crazy. And its not like whole game runs fast, its just the maximum skating speed, players cannot turn with that speed. And believe me I've played enough to see that this is not normal. Now its possible that I went to main menu and reloaded Be a GM before this happened but i'm not sure about that.

So with this crazy skating speed I played a game for a while, saw that this ain't right and i simmed the rest of the game. Started next one, same thing. Tried it few times and went to main menu and tried in Play Now, same wicked skating speed there too.

I tried to fix it with sliders from settings in game pause menu, didn't help. Even tried to put default gamestyle Normal and Hardcore, no luck with those. So I went back to Main menu and changed my sliders to something and went back to main menu and re-adjusted my sliders to Gamestyle Normal and saved my profile. Everything was fine after that, back to normal speed.

So i'm guessing that something happens between exiting Be a GM(season?) and going to main menu/play now OR something happens when exiting Be a GM and going back to main menu/play now and reloading Be a GM.

This time I fixed it without exiting NHL13 though, last time I reinstalled the game.
