Basketball enthusiasts can't enjoy Live's gameplay, its frustrating for us to see players taking drifting fade aways from 3.

Or big men going up for a dunk animation and then with the slightest contact it turns into a circus shot animation. It might be fun to casuals but ...

If you base your decision on this leaked, pre-alpha footage, you don't deserve to be a gamer and you should not be on this forum. What I think is more disgraceful than the quality of this footage is the rush to judgement by basketball fans on this forum. I hope EA's official videos on Live 13 blow everyone away.

There are a few things in the video that's for the assumption that's it's an early build;

1. the camera doesn't pan the whole way to the right (you can't see a player in the corner even though the ESPN graphics are fully centered the whole time)

2. The menu is veeery basic. There'd be much more info in a build two months from release.

3. After the cool ESPN intro; when the two teams logos come toward the screen to dissappear, the Thunder's top of the 3d logo sticks for a second at the bottom of the screen. That tells me they've just put the graphics in to test how it would all come together.

4. Player movement animations are jerky. Not at all in line with what finished animations would look like.

To add to the list the time is going down way to fast and the refs are standing still and not moving around

If the reaction is negative they can claim it's not an official PR release, is old, is not representative of the game, etc. They played the same early-build card with Elite. We all knew those videos were of a final build. No developer ever releases a pre-alpha video only a few weeks before final submission of the final game.
There's a big difference between this and Elite, this isn't the same early build card. They tried to pull the early build thing after the Venice event where 23 and some of the other guys exposed them.

Now these guys are sitting up here talking about pre-alpha on a game that's got a full feature list menu screen. I can't believe that people are still buying this pre-alpha nonsense. On top of everything else I've already pointed out shouldn't be in a pre-alpha build, the real kicker is dudes are out there in FULL ACCESSORIES and shoes. Not one generic shoe is in that vid. LeBron, Wade, they've got correct pads, sleeves, headbands and kicks.

Based off the reactions in this thread, looks like Im only getting 2K this year. Was hoping Live 13 would build off the positives from Live 10, but that doesn't seem the case.

The rest of us will spend it on the "other" game.

I've literally seen NOTHING that gives me hope that this will play like an authentic basketball title. Guys don't have correct signature shots (or are given generic shots. Why the hell is this still happening with EA's budget?), they have even more generic dribble moves(if you can call what they did dribbling), the rebounding sucks, and the net physics suck. Based on past Live's....neither of those issues are going to change anytime soon.
Couldn't agree more! well said!

When was the video put up again? I just noticed it's there and can't find the page in this thread that takes note of that fact.

Earlier today. The info about the video is on the main website operationsports.com, including EA's statement.

I feel like they put just as much depth into the crowd as they did the players... even the team logos looked bad, like the Heats logo looked ********. But I guess if it's a pre alpha build then we shouldn't complain.

There you go.

AND ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE IT'S NOT PRE-ALPHA. Don't buy that line. Pre-alpha is like...pre-alpha is like the very first paragraph of the first piece of paper you write a rough draft on. All the features that you want to put in the game hasn't even been decided on typically during the pre-alpha stage. This build has full commentary, art, quarters, every team, connection to the EA servers, leaderboards, the exit option for the game and so on, all of that is not available on pre-alpha build of a video game.

Put it like this. You can bet money that there were no more than four teams available on the build of 2K13 that was at E3 and I'll bet money My Player, Association, Dream Team, 2012 Team USA or anything Jay-Z related was not seen or heard by anybody that saw that game and I'm almost 100 percent certain that what was at E3 was pre-alpha 2K.

There's absolutely no chance that the final retail looks much different than this.

I know for a fact that the game is a mess. Even if the weird gameplay quirks are ironed out (see: that LeBron situation at about 7 minutes in), you don't just replace models and animations from one build to another. Fundamentally this is how the game looks. It may play better, but there's not reason to believe that. If it did, then I'm sure they would have been much more willing to showcase it to the public.

At this rate, I'd be surprised if it didn't get cancelled again.

Players are sliding too much. This is not hockey, this is bball.

So far, 2K13 1 x 0 Live13
