NBA 2K13 Features 92 Dream Team (With Barkley, No Pippen) & 2012 Olympic Team

The '92 Dream Team & 2012 Olympic team will be featured in NBA 2K13. Charles Barkley is in, but Scottie Pippen couldn't get a deal worked out.

It's cool we get to battle it out between these 2 teams, but with Pippen off the roster, it puts a definite blemish on the announcement.

2K Sports proudly announces partnership with USA Basketball for NBA 2K13

2K Sports today announced a partnership with USA Basketball to feature both the star-studded 2012 USA Basketball Men�s National Team and the 1992 �Dream Team� in NBA 2K13, the next installment of the top-selling and top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise*.

�As executive producer, letting fans go head to head with these legendary USA teams was extremely important to JAY Z,� said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. �We are excited to partner with USA Basketball, and share in JAY Z�s enthusiasm in making this a reality in NBA 2K13.�

The 2012 USA Basketball Men�s National Team has earned recognition as one of USA Basketball�s all-time greatest teams. NBA 2K13 cover athlete Kevin Durant helped lead the USA to its successful showing and joins the elite list of accomplished basketball players who have represented USA Basketball.

�It was an incredible blessing to have been part of the 2012 USA Basketball National Team,� said Durant. �USA Basketball's National Team legacy is incredible and so many of basketball�s all-time greats have been part of it, I�m just honored to be in that group. @phenom1990...it was also reported that Barkley will be on DT but NOT any other classic teams, so I think it is possible that Pippen could still be on classic Bulls but omitted from DT for whatever reasons such as contractual, personal reasons, etc. I think he will be on the classic teams, maybe just not on the DT. But, who knows. Still a LOT of time until release, so anything is possible.

To me, as long as they don't get rid of any current classic teams, possibly add a few more as well as fix the passing and improve the gameplay, I'll be pretty satisfied.

Friend- Na I didnt. But Ima get 2K this year for sure. JayZ gonna be producing it this year man!

I'm guessing one of the old Bulls team will be in the game, but it would be odd not to have scottie pippen in the game since he's been in past 2K games. I'm hoping this is just for the dream team, if not guess we will be creating Scottie and putting him on the dreamteam and on the 90's Bulls.

Im confused, how is scottie pippen in the past two games on the bulls but now all of a sudden he cant be a part of the dream team? That doesnt make any sense to me...

Do we have some talented CAP artists out there that can make virtual Scottie look resemble real life Scottie?

@stlpimpmonsta...so you're saying 2k is omitting the '85 Sixers team that was included in the 2k12 version? He was on that team you know, just not included on the roster due to contract negotiations falling through. I don't think (at least I hope not) existing legend teams will be deleted, only more added. Just thinking he stipulated he would only allow his likeness to be on the 92 DT. But, I could be wrong.

Nobody really knows at this point whether we will have legend teams this year..I hope so, given that it was the legends that brought me back to begin with. We do know there will be legend players because prior to the Dream Team announcement it's mentioned in the all star weekend mode as well. But that doesn't necessarily = legend TEAMS. I agree with others that the legend teams were a success and there will be a meltdown if they drop them. I just hope the focus on retro NBA wasn't 2k compensating for NBA lockout issues.

This is a cool addition to me and it's good to see Barkley finally make an appearance in a next gen game. Sorry for the loss of Pippen but once 2k started in with these legends I knew it would be hard for them to keep up with the demands of the fanbase when it comes to specific player or team inclusions. Knowing that 2k has to individually bargain with every former player in order to make these teams a reality, that can prove to be a tough task. Not every former player is sitting on a mountain of cash lighting Cuban cigars with burning $100 bills like MJ could. Also not every former player is a gamer and values the importance of being included for authenticity's sake just for the fans. For some it's about getting the most money they can especially when they see an opportunity for some leverage(Pippen testing how much 2k is willing to pay for a complete DT roster).

Ultimately this is a business and knowing the unpredictable financial nature of trying to put these legend teams together I think people should be happy that they have had them for the last 2 years because I can't see 2k doing this for the long haul.

I think sales would drop significantly if 2K shed the legend teams. It would be like getting fed a prime rib or Tbone steak diet, then having it taken away and replaced with instant breakfast. No, I truly believe the legend teams will be back in full force, all though it concerns me that they haven't announced any legend teams being back or any additional legend teams. Maybe in future updates??? I know that's a deal breaker for me personally. I'd still rent 2k13 just to experience the upgraded game play, but I certainly wouldn't buy it.

So they get Barkley but loose Pippen. How exactly did Jay-Z help out on this?

What's the point of this...unless Barkley is yelling out "that's turrible" every time Croatia misses a shot, how am I supposed to defend without NBA CHAMPION Scottie Pippen.

@theprocess...hilarious and very relevant point. It's one thing if they weren't including Laettner. But this no Pippen stuff won't fly with the fans on any level. He was an instrumental part of that team. Guess we'll see.

While this may be great for some, I for one didnt use the legend teams at all in last years version except when a buddy came over and we just played quick games. This is a cool feature but Im still waiting on some more gameplay or mode features. Cant wait for the shoe insight to come out! (sarcasm)
