I just don't see Hakeem Nicks as a top 10 WR, I'd put Gregg Jennings, Dwayne Bowe, Brandon Marshall, and Marques Colston over him.

I will give you that its debatable with those 4 guys. But what messes this list up is they got TEs on there. Nicks is a top 10 WR. The guy has been a beast for the Giants. No way can someone say Cruz is better based off of 1 year, Im a Giants fan I love Cruz but ive seen Nicks since his rookie season. 3 years in the league Cruz 1, well 1 year actually playing for Cruz. Cruz put up big numbers because hes good and because teams focused on Nicks, in the playoffs teams focused on Cruz and Nicks lit them up like hes always done.

He also played in one more game, and its just as easy to see that Nicks was the best WR on the Giants roster in the play-offs. He was better in every category. He was a gamechanger, Cruz was just a guy.

Thats because teams focused on shutting Nicks down because hes been doing it for 2 years already then Cruz showed hes legit. Then what happened in the playoffs ? they focused on Cruz and Nicks showed them why they were focusing on him all season. Hes been doing this for 3 years. Cruz had better numbers than most WRs in the league doesn't mean hes top 5. Being good for 1 year doesnt make you better than the guy thats done it for several years. And I love Cruz.

Playoff game vs the defending SB champs who came off a 15-1 season. In Lambeau Field. Dagger at the end of the half, silences the crowd. What Cruz did to the Jets with that 99 yard run was spectacular but it doesn't get any bigger than what Nicks did to the Packers unless your Tyree or Manningham. Nicks went up and got this ball, it didnt magically fall in his lap. Some of you are selling him short.

To be fair no one covered Nicks on that play. Hell no one even bothered to put their hands up on that play. XD

What did you prove with that?

I just don't understand why EA rates every player so highly. So Calvin Johnson and Aaron Rodgers who are both rated 99 OVR this year have peaked their talent level? There is no way for these athletes to improve their overall play? and if they have maxed out the possible talent level at these positions it must make them the greatest of all time, it is not possible to be any more talented than these players.

Every year we have the same complaint, I just can't comprehend EA's logic with their rating system.

There's no way in hell that they maxed out their talent. You're speaking like they're perfect.. Just because they're 99 OVR doesn't mean they can't improve. Hell if they have a bad season their Rating will decrease, then they can improve from that season. That's one way of looking at it. If they have a great season, I'm sure that their ratings won't go up high at a substaintual rate.. But some of their ratings will be improved like their catch, acceleration for Calvin and Accuracy, play action etc. for Arod.

Thinking the same thing, as it shows his YPC his first two years at 19.4 and 21.0 is basically running deep routes it would seem. He may have been a better all around receiver in 2011, but early on he was the teams deep threat used to take the top off the coverage.

Agreed. Just because these two are already 99 overall doesn't mean they can't improve in certain areas of the game. As long as they don't have max stats in everything then I don't see this as a problem.

Even if you project Nicks' stats to one more game, he still loses in every category. Cruz had more YPC, more catches per game, and more yards per game, more TD per game, etc. Cruz only started 7 games and put up ridiculous stats.

These aren't historical ratings. These are based on what they did last year.

Yes, it does. This isn't based on a body of work, it is based on last year.

And the playoffs? I see you ignored that to focus on what strengthens your argument. Cruz did have a great year though no denying that. I've watched enough coaches film to see that teams were clearly rolling coverage over to Nicks' side of the field opening things up for Manningham and Cruz.

You are talking about 3 games out of a whole season.

exactly he might not even be the best wr on his team. Cruz is better to me.

But this is EA we are talking about.

This whole notion that Cruz is better hen Nicks is ridiculous. Almost every single Giants fan would laugh at you.
