everyone's confused when it comes to NBA Live. I thought there was something today as well just that nobody from OS was going to be there. Was it really cancelled? I guess they're just continuing the trend of cancelling things related to EA's basketball games.
Disappointed that the news isn't better...yes but look at the action this board is getting now. Can only go off with whats been layed out by them. Live is due out in oct. It's using ant tech found in other games with improved physics, live 10 controls(hooray no shotstick), good graphics, espn presentation, online modes, synergy stats
Im not butthurt cause I'm content with Live 10 and can get a game online any night of the week.
I put Live 10 in the top five all time of games I like. Until they take down the servers....then I'll come and complain at the evils of EA for letting a cult classic die.
If Live 13 for whatever reason doesn't come out, I'll be the first one here for them to keep the Live 10 servers alive like they did when elite got cancelled. Hopefully they will update the rosters or re-release as a digital download with updated rosters.
I agree with you and think you're absolutely right. Its like people hold some huge grudge against EA that they can't let go. I don't think EA owes us anything, if you didn't like Live 06 and then you went out and bought Live 07 then that's your fault.
There's no law that says everyone must go out and buy every NBA Live game every year. If you fall for the marketing hype, then step your research game up. They haven't even showed us the game yet and people are mad because they "deserve" a preview because of the pain EA put them through and the bad games they didn't force them to buy, c'mon.
Someone compared them to a restaurant with a bad reputation, ok yea if the restaurant was bad for a couple years and i didn't like it i probly wouldn't go back. But if that same restaurant came out and said we're under new management, have new chefs, and a whole new menu then those past memories mean nothing to me because i wanna see what the new place is about.
People are treating this game like its the same guys putting out the same thing as last time. Its an entirely new team with new tech, new goals, and new focus.
NBA Live doesn't owe me anything, they owe themselves a good basketball game

This new restaurant has had 2 or 3 new managements and the food, service kind of still suck big time.
Get it finally, it's not hatred, it's not grudge. We just want a competetive game from EA Sports.
Do people really pay $60 for a game without playing it first? I can't think of a single time I've ever had "the buyer's remorse", especially on a sports game. I mean, I agree that EA seems to be dropping the ball a bit in the development and advertising of Live 13, but they aren't putting a gun to anyone's head to buy the game, and if it sucks then they will be the ones hurting the most. Worst case, I'm out $2 and a few hours of my time (thank you RedBox). Settle down fellas, it's Friiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaay!

This is truth, nobody is forced to buy the game. If you bought all the past NBA Live's because of the name then shame on you. EA doesn't owe you anything, you owe your bank account an apology.
If NBA Live 13 doesn't come out and advertise like "people" think they should, so what? Live doesn't need to win back any fans or try to corral the troops again, they just need to create a good basketball game. If your a fan of basketball and understand the sport then you will be a fan of a good basketball game, that's all there is to it.
If your a life or death loyal supporter and fan of a company then you're just cheating yourself (especially if you don't receive any benefits or work for the company). Brand loyalty is something companies thrive off; Jordan and Apple for example, but there's better basketball sneakers than Jordan's and there's better software than iOS.
Just waiting for Live to show me something.

But now the restaurant has a new menu, new chefs, new management, and even a new building in a different state. They've basically tried to re-establish themselves, that's enough for me to be willing to give them a try.
I'm forgetting the past NBA Lives they mean nothing to me, its a new direction. If the new direction is bad i won't buy, if i like it and think its a good direction I will buy, simple.

..........
I don't think I have enough gifs to properly respond to this. So I'll just use a few of the most fitting.
k heres how it plays out....live is released as a digital download only (id guess 29.99)....it has a super skimpy feature set ie no my player type thing maybe no career mode...BUT the gameplay is semi solid (theyll build on this as they did with the fifa takeover of pes) AND online play will be banging.
is it crazy that im really pulling for this scenario?

Lol take the statement in context man.
The point is if EA creates a good basketball game then "basketball fans" will like the game, there's no need to over-hype and market the game to try to win back lost fans. Let the game win em back.

But the only people who would say there that there's no better basketball sneaker than Jordan's are the exact type of brand loyal people i'm talking about.

Now that I agree with. I do feel that after the Elite 11 debacle, they do need to do something to tell people "Hey we're back, and this is what we've got.." Hopefully they do.

What other choice do they have other than to go the route of Sony

Context my *** man. Look at your post, you're in here talking about they don't owe anybody anything and they don't need to win back fans all they gotta do is make a good basketball game. What do they need to make a good basketball game for? They don't have to make a basketball game at all. They can say F it and pull out of basketball games the same way they said F it and pulled out of college basketball, NASCAR and the AFL. They have to make a good basketball game because they want to make money. In order to make money they need to win back fans to come try their product. It goes hand in hand. They aren't showing anybody right now that anything is different from the last time other than they changed teams....again....at the last possible second.
Then you're in here trying to call people out on brand loyalty while bringing out the shield and sword for any and everybody that's expressed any sort of concern from the same damn red flags that started popping up two years ago around this time? GTFOH
Now that I agree with. I do feel that after the Elite 11 debacle, they do need to do something to tell people "Hey we're back, and this is what we've got.." Hopefully they do.
Hopefully is right, the game can do all the talking. If its bad, then there's no need to buy it, if its good then is gonna people are gonna be screaming Live's back.
Man you guys are passionate for a game and company you hate.
Still selectively reading I see.
Might as well not bother replying then. It's been stated quite a number of times people want a good game but the way this has been handled is completely amateurish.
I would expect this from Acclaim, not EA. (My apologies to all Acclaim fans out there, I loved them too.)
People have the same passion you say you do, only they voice their displeasure over how poorly this has been handled. That's doesn't equate with hate - again - simply passion.
Don't you think everyone would rather be discussing how cool the game looks?
Not selective reading...I just dont feel a sense of entitlement and deservedness that EA should be giving me something more than a standard EA sports title in its first year.
They cancelled elite because it was not up to their standards not yours. I'm thankful they did that and I hope they would do the same for Live 13 if it did not meet their standards. Until they announce that I'm not going to get worked up over what stage the game is at, what videos are out, their marketing, hard vs digital copy... What say would I have in that anyways.
Live gameplay, controls and online is all that matters to me. That is my standard and if it meets them then I will buy the game. The only negative I've read is that the animations are not up to par yet.
False.
They cancelled Elite 11 because of community backlash.
