Haven't played yet, will play tonight but some good impressions so far. Hopefully Konami doesn't start dramitcally changing the game because of a select few complainers. Last year everyone loved the game when it hit and with each patch it got worse in a way.

It was the same for PES 2012, they happen very rarely though.

The pace of the game is perfect, love the ball physics too. Kicks are crazy though ... or the net "overreact" i don't know.

I hate not being able to move the receiver on through balls. And the passing speed is still highly variable. Very first impression is that the game is exactly the same as 12.

Passing speed is supposed to be variable according to how much one loads the power bar, and the player's short pass speed & long pass speed stats...

I downloaded the PS3 demo from the Japan store last night and played a few game and didn't change anything except my passing bar was on 3 mostly because I couldn't read anything I had my son download the UK demo today so that I can mess with settings etc. tonight.

My initial impression is that is a lot better than both 2011 and 2012. Shooting is much better. Keepers are better and it doesn't feel rigid anymore. So far so good. Will post more once I play more but I would like to mention one sequence that made me smile.

In my first game playing as Italy vs. Germany and a german player beat my defender inside the box down the endline and took a shot. Buffon saved it but it went back towards the center of the goal towards a waiting German player who took another shot. Buffon got his fingers to it at the near post but deflected it away towards the far post where a defender was waiting to clear it. It just looked great. I have a video that won't do it justice that I will try and put up but it was just a great sequence.

One other thing i want to mention is that you can now pull away from players again. I had two instances where i was able to beat a defender off the dribble and get away to get off a shot. One with Balotelli and one with Postiga.

I am going to try the Fifa demo too but this might be the year I just get PES and go back to it.

Exactly. Shooting and keepers were plum broke last year. Amazing the improvement this year. Those changes and the all-manual controls make it a completely different and much-improved game.

This game is simply what the PES series is all about: a lot of heart and love for the game of Football.

That is probably the main reason why the fans of the series never quit on it despite of past iterations that didn't made the cut. After playing PES/Winning Eleven for 12 years I know I will never be able to enjoy the other game as much as PES.

Sounds good everyone, I haven't gave it a try yet but I plan on soon, looking forward to give this demo a try but I still remain optimistic....just a little bit.

Why use L2 when there are full-manual controls?

First few matches i played with the default pass/shot settings with the L2 as the optional manual control setting and all was good. Then i decide to try full manual all the time with the guide arrow off and my goodness I will not be going back to default again. My whole game opens up while attacking. On default i hardly use the manual low shot, but one full manual i use it more. Plus my pass go where i want more. I just have to get use to the power bar for manual. But overall im hooked.

I know you can have it all set to manual, but having the option to mix it with non manual passing is awesome too.

Oh okay, thought I maybe missed something and was actually playing without full manual engaged. Thanks.

What an awesome, awesome game this is!

To be quite honest, I find it to be very similar to 12 but way more refined.

The whole game has this fluid feeling to it.

And you know I had some brilliant goals, stuff you don't quite see in another game.

I dont know what it is with PES, it just has this feel to it that isn't quite replicated.

Day 1 buy

I tapped A to pass to a teammate 5 yds from me and hit a rocket past him to a teammate 20 yds further but in the same direction. So I guess it was a case of ba ratings and randomness although it was an Italian midfielder so his rating shouldn't have been too terrible

I've probably played more than 20 games now and I've only scored like four goals. And of those four goals, one of them was accidentally knocked in by the computer lol. I was trying to hang of things on professional, but it's looking like I'm not built for that quite yet. I'm gonna give regular a shot and see how that goes.

In Fifa, I could just run down the sideline, shoot a cross and score a lot of goals like that, but PES isn't giving me anything easy. I've been struggling like crazy and I'm loving it. I went ahead and pre-ordered this along with Madden when I stopped by Gamestop a little bit ago. As long as they don't do anything to break the game, I don't see how I wouldn't enjoy the full version of PES.
