This is the part I take exception to.
Don't insult my intelligence by telling me this is a "thank you".
If it were a thank you everyone would get it whenever and wherever they purchased it from.

As a former "mom and pop" video game store owner stuff like this baffles me. No wonder these stores are all disappearing.

Crew Mode will be DLC/Pre-Order Bonus next year.

And the year after that 24/7 Mode will return

Respectfully, I'm not entirely sure where you are receiving your information, but it seems as if you're taking the opinion of someone you know and passing it along as fact - both in the case regarding the absence of Crew as well as the All-Star Weekend rights.

Director of Development at Visual Concepts, Jeff Thomas:
Quote:
The decision to change online codebases [from Dreamcast-era setups] affected everything about the game's online offerings. As this would be a first run, Thomas directed the team to remove complex features that, although manageable in the old creaky architecture, couldn't be integrated with the new code in time for the game's shipping date—which, of course, is set by the NBA.

That meant "My Crew" got the axe. This year.

"We love My Crew," Thomas said. "But it's one of the more complicated features to put online. If we wanted to have a game this year, we needed to keep the feature set tight and small. When you get involved with Crews, there's a whole thing with data exchanging that gets involved."

My Crew was the online experience in NBA 2K11 where gamers took their created player from the "My Player" career mode, formed up teams and, in an environment supporting 10-player multiplayer, ran some ball. It was like having a regular rec league game, except online (and with guys who had mad skills).

Though Thomas cannot promise anything, he also sincerely did not rule out My Crew's return in future editions, attributing its absence in NBA 2K12 solely to the new codebase.

SMH @ all the bitching & complaining going on in this thread.

Newsflash people if you dislike this being a pre-order then guess what? Don't buy it. 2k was nice enough to offer something like this for the fans & this is how you repay them? Let's not even mention how years & years of us angrily screaming at 2k for not having a real ASG weekend, yet this year they presented it as a feature.

Now you have posters that I thought I respected, are yelling & going into tirades like little 4 year olds. Is this what OS has been reduced to? Nonsensical statements? Not looking at it from 2k's point of view? Complaining about paying a measly 5 dollars to have feature we've all wanted?

And speaking of that, the reason why it's a feature you have to pay for is pretty simple:

Business.

This is a business & we are the consumers. Sure we would all love to have the ASG already in the game, sure we would love to play 2k13 like the Sims, but 2ksports has to give people an incentive to buy the game. I fully expect there to be much more DLC's this year & I have no problem whatsoever with that because I realize as of now the games can't handle everything we want. Maybe on the next gen system things will change but for right now we have to deal with it.

The one thing though that I see most posters on here aren't putting into perspective is the possibility of more features being announced. We still haven't heard how ASG will be implemented, what other "big" features they have planned, you all need to have patience.

Very excited about 2k13 @ E3 & I would very much hope that the All Star Weekend is integrated in My Player & Association Mode.

Thank you for NBA LIVE 2005.

This add on is going to be nothing but the blacktop mode in a arena now.

I've never gotten why people complain about pre-order stuff, especially for sports games where most people buy year after year. You don't even need to pay for the pre-order if you do it online, so I don't see the issue.

Not everyone pre-orders games online, heck not everyone pre-orders games, some people like to wait it out to see how others view the game before they buy, word of mouth is the biggest selling tool known and as it stands right now there is no word if this will be content that's available to those who do not wish to buy the game on day one. So, I for one understand the displeasure people are showing towards this announcement because they don't feel like it should be an add-on product or a product that right now seems to be pre-order content only... it benefits only those who choose to pre-order but the majority of buyers probably don't pre-order the game at all, they just walk into there local gamestop/walmart/bestbuy or where have you and just buy the game, on the otherside I understand this is a business move for 2K that can up there sales. I am sure 2K will release this add-on anyway via dlc or game code but there is that chance that if you don't pre-order you miss out, but why can't the consumer have any complaints about this? Like the saying goes "If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything." Just a thought.

The incentive is being a fan of 2k and wanting to play a good basketball game. If they come out and announce that they've listened to us and fixed certain things from 2K12 then people will buy it. Hell, hardcore 2K fans will buy it regardless.

Granted, it's only May. So like you said we still have lots of time left for them to announce more things. Personally, I don't care about it either way, but I feel it (ASW) should already be in the game. It probably already is. The code they give you will just unlock it. (On disk DLC)

Again, you don't have to pre-order. If this is something that you would want if you bought the game, then pre-order it and if after hearing about the game you decide that you don't want it, then cancel the order. I just don't see why that part is an issue. As far as people not knowing about it, I'm pretty sure that many people are going to be seeing commercials about this, just like with every other game and their pre-order bonuses.

I understand where you are coming from, but I think most people's displeasure comes from they don't believe this should be an add-on content point blank period and it should come already packaged with the game. I said it earlier that I believe there should be a code that comes already with the game like on the back of the game booklet or something. Who knows though, I know I personally will be getting the game more than likely, I just think the pre-order incentive is pretty silly either way you look at it, just reward people who buy the game in general pre-order or not, that way if they don't pre-order they don't miss out on content.

Not surprised that its not in PC version, PC gets excluded in pre-orders and thats why pre-order blows.

Really Why do they hate PC gamers so much? Is it because they pay less for the game?

# 176 VDusen04 @ 05/31/12 02:03 PM
Will the All-Star Weekend's absence on the PC mean there's an increased chance the ASW will not be a feature that can be integrated into Associations, Seasons, and My Player? I feel as though a feature capable of such integration would be uniform in its appearance on all platforms.

# 177 Vni @ 05/31/12 02:05 PM
I thought that too. Very unlikely it's integrated in association mode or Myplayer since everyone won't have it.

# 178 BezO @ 05/31/12 02:08 PM
Man, very dissapointed. I've waited a long time for this, but pre-ordering games, especially online, is out of my comfort zone. No all-star weekend festivities for me. In fact, I may push my normal day one purchase back a month in protest. Maybe I'll be able to find a used copy.

If it's not part of associations, I could care less any way.

LOL at showing appreciation. We're the customer. They make money off of us. The appreciation comes from the other direction.

Fail 2K!

"@pastapadre With no All-Star Weekend for the PC version of NBA 2K13 even more clear that its just an add-on and no integration in Association/My Player."
