if you listen at about the 2:39-40 mark right smack dab in the middle of the home teams opening drive in the first quarter against a bitter conference rival you can hear someone in the crowd go.."whooohooo!!" --and it seemingly echoes throughout the stadium ...this is because the stadium is about as loud as a funeral and you could hear a pin drop...now, for a dev team that is boasting much improved atmosphere and crowd noise ummm not a good sign... i think EA thinks we are all stupid or something i for one am sick and tired of all the fluff they better be holding out on us that all i got to say..but before i go i will say this if that clip shows anything close to the final build of the game that ncaa 13 dev team GOTS TO GO.

Good God EA...its as dull as ever

I pray Post J-4th we'll be feeling much better about this game

That crowd noise/intensity is pathetic

^^^Thats the type of intensity and passion we want to be oozing through the screen....This is even more important for a College Atmosphere

Im just going to refrain from commenting on the rest until after E3 but its got to get a lot better then this

Now THATS some immersion for ya right there. Even the players coming out of the tunnel is more organic back then. You can see some of the players doing individual animations.

watch at about the 9:09 mark the wide out catches the ball and gets knocked out of bounds for a first down, he gets up and signals first down..love it...EA where did that animation go because that is what we see every wide out in america do every saturday in the fall when they catch a pass for a first down..little things make allllllll the difference

I think the presentation and atmosphere were done much better on the PS2. I really miss the player movement from the PS2 as well. I don't think we'll ever get real foot planting or a heavier player momentum system as long as the current group of guys is making this game. They just don't want to implement it and I don't believe it's software related. Part of me has thought about buying an old PS2 and NCAA 06 instead.

Last year's game really frustrated me with the super LBs and the super toned down r-stick juke. Those are supposed to be improved and the new recruiting is interesting. I expect the game to be better than last year's which I didn't like. To really push me into buying I want to see the cpu run the spread and run an offense effectively that isn't a pro style offense. The push for everything online also seems that EA doesn't care enough about cpu AI though.

I think many of us could like this game but I don't see anyone saying that NCAA 13 will emulate college football the way the Show does baseball or NBA 2K does basketball.

I have only played NCAA this Gen so I may be well off base but NCAA back then does not look like it is a different Gen game graphics wise.

Im sure the Zealots may flame me saying that but watching that video and the new NCAA 13 video there is not a huge leap up in visuals. Am I wrong? Im not saying there is no improvement just not a big one compared to Madden for example.

In regards to the new video it looks exactly the same as last year other than the new updates/ticker.

Crowd sounds SOOOOO much better. Really enjoyed that clip.

# 188 acreyman @ 05/18/12 08:56 AM
I think it looks alot better than last year. I have been playing 12 alot...trying to Washington State built up to get to that BCS Championship game before i get 13. Tough sliders and so far its been two editions of NCAA where I have not made it to the title game so.......anyways the crowd sounds WAY better, the passing looks WAY WAY WAY better, catching animations look alot better. The studio updates are very cool to me since I like to simulate all the Top 25 teams games to see the outcome and stats. I am stoked for this game.

# 189 chi_hawks @ 05/18/12 09:13 AM
just cancelled my pre-order thru Amazon. I'll rent it for 4 bucks and sim to get my draft classes for Madden.

I hope this game gets crucified in the reviews this year.

Not even the commentary sounds any different at all. Almost word for word from last year and the crowd is still awful. I would have like to see Oregon with the ball to see if they got loud. At least give us what you say you're giving us. That wasn't terrible, it was just so stale.

EA wouldn't dare let us see Oregon with the ball. That would illustrate just how poorly the cpu runs the spread/option.

Watched the clip last night and what can you say -- it certainly doesn't do any favors for the much-talked-about new commentary engine. I don't play NCAA, but if they're sharing the same commentary tech as Madden, I have to be a little concerned.

As far as gameplay goes, you either love it, find it serviceable, or hate it. I fall right there in the middle, so I didn't find anything in this video that really turned me off. Some of the pass coverage was whacky, but that happens in every football game from time to time. I actually liked the pass catching. Guys getting their heads around to look for the ball does wonders visually, and brings a layer of realism to the passing game.

Well that was not what I was expecting from a commentary perspective. It was pretty dry and way too much dead space. I usaully buy NCAA to get ready for Madden, but I may skip it this year....It just seems like a boring game -- based off this video. Hopefully Madden isnt as bad commentary wise, but I have a feeling it will be similar.

I think the discouragement comes from the wacky coverage happening too often in NCAA '12.

Whats funny is that in NCAA '12 the safety will have his back to the ball but finds where its being thrown almost instantly and the safety in this video is looking right at it and didn't even attempt to make a play on it.

The dead air is really bad and stale.

The gameplay kinda looks the same but probably plays better than 12.

The studio updates are not perfect but will help add some immersion to your dynasty.

Overall it looks and sounds like an EA sports video game.

I'm bringing my PS2 Slim up from the basement and am going to start playing NCAA 06. Just use generic names and go with it.

I was playing the FIFA DEMO on Vita last night and was blown away by how dynamic the crowd was. I'm not a soccer guy, but I can see why people gravitate towards that game. The commentary is miles ahead of what NCAA brings to the table ... and again, this is just based off of what I saw from the DEMO last night.

Watched the video again and the game just doesn't have enough life to it. Way too similar to 12, IMO.

Can anyone give me even one good reason why EA's marketing department put this video out?

It's had a negative impact on excitement for the game.

If you are going to put out video pre-release, it should look good and highlight several new additions to the game. This has the score update — which had already been detailed in previous videos — but that's about it. Commentary was poor, gameplay had some question marks (DB reaction on TD pass), and there is no atmosphere at all.

SPOILER ALERT: This may be a positive reply to this video:

- Right off the bat, I love the ESPN ticker. It looks really good on the screen and is that little nuance that people are looking for. The "priority score alert" at 1:31 is also a nice touch. Also, the scoreboard looks a little different. Not a huge change, but big enough where I believe it doesn't look the same.

- The drum line after the first down is nice. I can't remember if that happened last year, but it really seemed to stand out this time.

- The Studio Update is definitely choppy and pieced together, but what did people expect coming from the NCAA team? The NCAA team can't get commentary correct, did you really believe that they would get this correct? Look at Madden last year, the same thing happened with Gus Johnson. It's not as bad, not even close to the abomination that Gus was, but it's noticeable. With that said, I like it. It breaks up the game a little and adds that Saturday feel to it.

- The crowd on the touchdown is definitely louder than NCAA 12. I think we also need to put into consideration that the crowd noise slider probably isn't at 100, where most of us will probably move it. Either way, the crowd noise sounded different on the TD. Is it good throughout the game? Probably not because through most of the drive, it was quiet. I wish they would show us USC's defense on a 3rd down play because that's probably when the crowd will be the loudest in a non-touchdown situation.

- Also the ESPN wipe before the TD replay seems new.

- Body paint on the crowd seems new.

- The safety looked lost on the TD. This could be a few things:
1. The "read and react" is just a smoke screen
2. Awareness actually means something and this safety's awareness is low. If you go to the Oregon Ducks roster, #27 (who is the safety in this video) is a sophomore. It's entirely possible that he's...just...not good. In 2011 he had 2 interceptions and 10 pass break-ups. Again, totally possible that his awareness is garbage.

Hopefully it's closer to 2 then 1.

I'm about to talk about commentary. It may be a little long.

Commentary seems to be everyone's biggest beef when it comes to an NCAA game. Unfortunately, everyone compares commentary to the two "Titans of Commentary", NBA 2K series and MLB: The Show series. What perplexes me a little is why people don't compare this EA sports game to every other EA sports game in terms of commentary.

---

Ever play NHL 12? Here's a piece of the commentary for my team (the Bruins).

Blah blah blah "The Bruins haven't won the Stanley Cup since 1972" [despite winning the game in the 2010-2011 season].

When you pass the puck to someone, here's the commentary:

Chara...(pass to Bergeron)...to Bergeron. [Bergeron skates around, dead air, passes to Marchand] To Marchand. [Marchand skates around, turns the puck over] A turnover.

The commentary is horrible.

Lets look at Madden 12. Gus Johnson. Enough said. That commentary is so jumbled, I'm surprised people aren't suing EA for making their ears bleed.

[Tom Brady passes to Wes Welker for a TD]

"TOM BRADY passes to....Wes WELKER!"

[team lines up for kickoff]

"TOUCHDOWN!"

The only EA game that ever got it right was FIFA, which is their best selling sports game.

---

The same happened in NHL 11 and Madden 11. Commentary has never been EA's strong suit and if you compare it with past EA Sports games, you should be able to temper your expectations.

Everything in Madden 13, commentary wise, looks awesome. Has there been any in-game commentary shown yet? What happens if it is implemented the same way. Sure, there's like a million hours of lines recorded from Simms and Nantz, but if you look at the past body of work, you'll see EA's track record with commentary is terrible.

I have an issue with people who say "Well, it looks like NCAA 12". Well, yeah, it's going to. EA isn't going to change the graphics from one year to the next, especially when the graphics in NCAA 12 were good!

Why would they completely scrap this engine (which won't happen, btw) to give a graphical update of a good looking game?

I honestly think the washed out colors has to do with the HDR lighting. Look at NCAA 11. Good colors that pop. Once HDR lighting was implemented, washed out colors.

Overall I think the game will be an upgrade. It may not be an upgrade the size that Madden is getting, but I think it will be more than NCAA 12.5. It's tough to judge things like pass trajectory from watching some scrub play on Varsity.

I was never a soccer guy either, but i'll sing the praises of fifa 12 because the gameplay, the crowd, the announcers are done insanely well. When you listen to the announcers in fifa 12, they comment on how the refs usually call a game. Some refs call the games tight, and some others call it loose. I would never expect that from ncaa.
