Okay guys...

Here is the Spring Training version of the Operation Sports Full Minors for 2012, for MLB 12 The Show.

This initial set looks really tight... and there is some FANTASTIC work done on these. Dare I say... the best set yet.

There are too many to thank for this... and I will come back and fill out this post with all those involved, as I know you guys want to get your hands on these and start your franchises.

Here is the link for the OSFM ST v.1They will be up in the Vault momentarily...
  • File name: O.S.F.M. SPRING
Thanks for all your patience... and most of all enjoy!!!

I just want to thank some people... and I have to say... this community is truly exceptional. Operation Sports is simply the best run website I visit. Bar none... and the members that frequent here are one of the main reasons. Good people attract other good people.

In no particular order... I really need to thank all of the people involved in the making of this set... as this is a true community effort and without all of these guys, it would make the process much harder and much, much longer.

Thanks to:

I'd like to thank ksig24 for his insight and input into the potential base for the set...

... and last but CERTAINLY not least...
RidinDwnKingsley...

Without his TREMENDOUS work and the immense amount of time that he puts into these rosters... they would have taken 3 times as long to do.

I CANNOT say enough about this, as his dedication and sheer bulldog mentality to get it done, means so much to these.

Also to Steve... the owner of O.S. and the mods on here who make it easy to keep the threads in order and viable to use in conjunction with the set.

...and of course thanks to the entire O.S. community for all the input that you guys have been putting into these for YEARS!

THANK YOU!

Guys.....a lot of people have requested to give back in response to these rosters. They offer thanks and several have offered money.
I suggest charities if you really want to do something as a thanks to these.

My suggested charities....The N.Y.C. FireFighters Burn Center....Wounded Warriors....or .....http://www.extra-life.org/

Thank you!

i know i need the "online pass" to play games online, but do i need it to DL the community roster updates through sportsconnect?

Correct, the game actually prompts you to enter your online pass to access the vault and all online modes right away.

Hey guys. I just wanted to point something out about team budgets in case nobody has noticed. I loaded a franchise with the default roster and the OSFM rosters and there were some major differences, for example:
OAK went from 69mil to ~90mil
BAL went from 66mil to ~98mil
PHI went from 166mil to 207mil

some teams only had minor changes like HOU from 60 to 68mil.

Probably because contracts were adjusted for the OSFM set.

Yeah that was my guess also. Figure the game auto adjusted for the higher deals. Doesn't bother me at all but figured i'd let everyone know.

Sorry guys - I know I read this somewhere but I can't find it again. What is updated in:

v.2
v.3
v.4?

Also, I usually wait for the opening day rosters to drop to start my season. Is there a reason why using the spring training v.4 version is better to use? Is there a v.2, v.3 and v.4 for the opening day rosters as well? Thanks

v2 - equipment/stance/windup edits
v3 - pitch edits
v4 - ratings edits

These all apply to MLB players, which are left untouched in the base set - the opening day set. Think of the spring training set as a teaser meant to calm the "When is OSFM supposed to come out?" crowd and also for Knight and Ridin' to receive any feedback for stuff that needs correcting/tweaking.

In years past it was usually mid-season since it usually included data from the current year, but if whoever ends up doing it (Jason) decides to use 2009-2011 data, it would be out a lot quicker, also depends on the speed of the other versions.

Last year for my own personal set it took me two months to input all of my own ratings, but that included me going to school and work as well as tinkering around with MiLB ratings, pitch edits, and editing my formulas multiple times.

If someone provided me with formula's, I could get it done.

Its all personal preference, I feel like the game is incomplete without the edits, I'm sure others will agree with me in saying that its not SCEA's strong suit, there's a lot of head-scratchers.

I'm sure whoever takes up v4 would finish it much faster than I would, I get sidetracked easily and use really complicated formulas.

Edit:

Scott - I use Bahnzo's roster tool; you can manually enter stats in the minor league section. I take an unweighted three year average from fangraphs, input the splits in the tool, then weight the results 2 to 1 to what SCEA already has for ratings. For Pitchers its much easier since you can download three year totals from fangraphs into excel, input those in the tool and weight the results with SCEA's ratings.
For defense, Fangraphs has fan ratings from Tom Tango's website, filtered to remove bias. Same thing, 2-1 weighted average with SCEA's ratings. There's more stuff I haven't talked about, I can pm you the details.

i completely agree that the game would feel a lil incomplete but it's not make-or-break to me...i would gladly offer to help but i wouldn't know where to start

I'm new to PS3 and the The Show.

Can someone tell me how to download and get the rosters to my game?

Also, is this the most current complete set? Will it have changes to make the Major League rosters accurate as well. (for example, Chris Parmalee should be starting for the Twins)

The most accurate set will be out on Wednesday, most likely.

So since this is the spring training version of the roster, will there be an Opening Day roster as well with all the correct lineups and rotations?
