Don't mean to sound like a broken record Dave, but the P2P mode will still not have real time play calling right?

Sorry to sound dense, but your response to me about three weeks ago left the door open for real time play calling at least in my own mind.

Once implemented, p2p is going to open the door to everything you want. It'll be just like you are playing the original TSB from back in the day.

We gotta get it implemented first!

know this doesn't look like much to you guys, buttttt this is HUGE! We are well on the way to being rewritten using the Unity3D engine exclusively. 2D in a 3D world!

Does this mean the animations/graphics will be better?

Do you not like them now? Hahaha

Unity3D is merely a game engine. We have a retro game. That isn't going to change.

Unity3D enables us to offer many, many improved things ie cross-platform, multiplayer player, better compression, etc.

Our previous platform was limiting. People want p2p play more than anything and we are going to make that happen. Rewriting in Unity3D is fastest, most efficient way of doing so.

Unity3D has some interesting performance idiosyncrasies, but once you get used to them, it is pretty useful for putting together things very quickly. I know first-hand how powerful it can be too; the last few games I've worked on at SRRN Games - Ash II: Shadows, Ash [Android version], and Always Outnumbered: Survival - have all been built in Unity3D. The ability to deploy cross-platform with minimal headaches is a huge plus.

What sort of engine were you all using beforehand? Proprietary? Some other licensed tech?

Yes, it was proprietary. Which at first was awesome, but then not so much. Adding netplay was going to be a monster headache. We need scalability as well. Insert Unity3D.

I'm still keeping my eye on progress you make here and will be sure to check this out once it's done.

If it gets us closer to this game it's a great thing. I'm pumped.

I'm very OK with the graphics, especially for this type of strategy game.

Unity Update #2

Another update! Here are more examples of recent progress!
1. Football icon shows up (Blit texture)
2. Text shows up (Draw text)
3. Text color changes (Overlay mesh)
4. icon moves up, down, left, right (Get input and process input)

It doesn't seem like much, except that all of these methods are used to run the main game (excpet sound) and are also used on this screen. So, if a method works here, it will always work.

Will logos be customizable?
I apprehend why you can't put them in, but will we be able to put the NFL logos in on our own?

The logos are customizable, but you are not able to upload pictures of your choosing. This is specifically to disable the use of trademarked properties, ie NFL logos, NCAA logos, etc. If/when we can get permission for use of these, we will make them available.

Our cutscene engine is now functioning! We'll be working on adding the all back into the game as well as coloring per team. Speed issues still remain. We'll ge there bros. We'll get there.

Sorry for the lack of updates in this thread. TONS of boring backend stuff going on. Hopefully a good announcement this weekend!
