Also, who has that orange cap in the Bautista screenshot? I'm pretty sure the Giants and Orioles don't have orange caps right?

No no no I understand that I was just pointing out the Jays had most of the new bio pics finished already. That's all I was doing.

Much more effective approach, Knight! You are getting good at this! Even got an immediate response. I was wondering where that other pic came from too, because I was positive the Jays jerseys were right in the ESPN shots.

Off-topic: I don't think any console has the processing power to accurately reproduce Bautista's (or Posada's) ears...lol.
Good catch indeed the led strip board under the HD jumbotron is missing. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like on the real one.

I don't know if this is new, but does anyone else see how sparse the crowd looks in the fifth deck at the Rogers Centre?

Seeing that I did not play as/against them in franchise, was this simply a feature of selling tickets at less than full capacity, or is this something new to see in stadiums in this year's game? That is, we should see more people in the lower deck and closer to home plate than other areas.

I don't yet think they are reflecting attendances off the real teams, though (since the Padres shouldn't be selling the way the pictures indicate ). I know there are issues with doing this because it looks bad for the MLB or whatever it is, but hopefully they can find a workaround someday.

Also, have we always had two-toned bats? I don't recall being able to choose that color for my player last year, but maybe it was the year before...

Click anyone who will actually be on the team next year, ie dont click Chad Beck. Try Arencibia, Lawrie, Romero, Bautista etc
I meant as far as the game goes. I know all the teams that had fashion shows have done their's already (for the most part.) And I'm sure Bautista had his, since he was one of the models.

So the roof being open in Toronto and the player wearing long sleves makes me feel like retractable roofs did not make it in again.

Such a tease having Josh Johnson so far away in that Bautista shot. I would love to see how the Marlins orange jersey looks up close.

Also, I like how Hanley is still wearing teal cleats.

As explained (though I don't know the explanation of the explanation itself), the only way to make retractable roof stadiums is to make two completely different stadiums. I don't know if they can begin with a copy-and-paste job and then reconstruct the rest (and cut off the right lighting, etc.), but the bigger issue, aside from time, would be the amount of memory that it would take up. Off the top of my head, there are six current stadiums that feature retractable roofs. I'm not sure if they can fit all of that into their game with appropriation.

Don't get me wrong, it would be a legit thing to have. In fact, even if they can't do it, I would vote for Chase Field to have it closed by default instead, since that's how most of their games are played at home. (it closes the panels against the center field facing as well).

But alas, I do believe it will be something we'll have to wait for on the next-gen console.

Maybe that's a third tease, that you can mix and match different "uni" cleats along with the jerseys and pants. So maybe Hanley is wearing current tops and bottoms, but has "Florida throwback" cleats on.

Damn good eye!
I'm curious about that as well.
Would be awesome.

Okay so we've got new cleats and gloves closing...

Three of the players show their index fingers on the outside of their gloves. Was that in MLB 11?

Also, this is probably more wishful thinking on my part, but the fact that they chose to show Bautista in two of the photos makes me wonder if there's now going to be a distinction between pull hitters and spray hitters. Bautista is known to be a heavy pull hitter, and both those photos show him watching the ball fly out to left or left center. Yes, a bit of a reach, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this aspect of the game was addressed.

Yes players always have had the index fingers on the outside. It'd be nice to see some on the inside... But that's just cosmetics

That would be great if true!

Theres actually to many people in the 5th deck for this shot especially if we're playing Miami.

Just FYI. Added a link to the OP, with screenshots in the OS database. It has higher res images.

decent..not anything earth-shattering.

one thing that may want to address...the shades...they are too small on players faces...they need to almost touch the cheekbone of the players...right now, they stop ~the eye socket

splitting hairs but if they want a perfect 10 score...they should take a closer look at the sun-glasses IMO

This. I went to two games this year, one against the Phillies and another against the Rays. The game with the Phillies had more people in the fifth deck than the Rays game, and just about the same as can be seen here. For a game against the Marlins, there should be next to no people in the top deck, then a few people trickling in on the fourth, and a concentration of people in the seats behind home plate (all decks but fifth) and the outfield. Then a dispersion along the base paths that slowly falls off as you get to the outfield foul lines.

At the Rays game I went to, I was at the bottom left of the Rogers Centre that you can see in the Jays vs. Marlins shot.

There were less people there on that day (a summer day, also) than you can see in this shot.

That said, attendance must be hard to program.

I love seeing that the Jays and Marlins are both wearing their HOME WHITE pants, leading credence to the hat/jersey/pant selection screen making a return from '11. In '08-'10, we couldn't pick home jerseys or home alternates on the road. I like this. Excellent job, SCEA.

However, the roof is open, at night, again. *sigh* I know, difficult as hell to do (for six stadiums, even). I pray for the Playstation 4 versions of this great series.

Also Russell, I'll PM you some pictures of the Pat Gillick and Roberto Alomar banners in the outfield.

Undoubtedly but I think it's equally as important that this at least exists in the game. The actual attendance numbers will still need some work, it seems.

Here's a higher resolution version of that image (courtesy of Steve and Operation Sports):

There are actually more people up there than I once thought in the smaller image, but there's a large discrepancy between the upper and lower decks for a non-sellout game.

By the way, the third base coach is definitely wearing sleeves.

This is as good as it gets when you have over 500 plus players you can't create 500 different types of geometry in the shades to fit everyone's face correctly.

Am I seeing things, or did you guys redo the lighting/shadow system? I don't see the unrealistic (and blinding) "flashlight" effect from previous games; last year I had to do some serious messing around with the contrast/brightness settings on my TV. A quick glance and the lighting looks a lot more balanced and more realistically allocated now. If I'm not imagining things, I have to say, it looks wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better now.
