NBA 2K12 News Post

NBA's Greatest mode is one of the most popular features in NBA 2K12. NBA fans enjoy the ability to play with legends like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Isaiah Thomas. But why stop at the 34 teams available in 2K12? There is no reason why these ten teams should not be in the next installment of the 2K basketball series.

Great list! You had all the teams I was going to say and I was surprised were on there (Sonics teams). As much as I hated that Rockets team as a Lakers showtime fan that team with twin towers was good! Also 93 Suns make all these a must have!

I would add...

1978 Bullets
1984-85 Nuggets

Free, Chocolate Thunder, Tiny Archibald, Mark Aguirre, Benard King, etc. Jordan said the reason he agreed to have his likeliness in 2K11 was to give the younger generation of fans a chance to get to see what he did, or something along those lines. Now with more classic teams being flooded into the game, that's the point, obviously I never had the chance to watch players like Elgin Baylor or Pete Maravich or hell even Phil Jackson play, don't be so close-minded. There's nothing classic about a lot of the early 2000 teams anyway. If you don't want to play with a 1970s team, that's on you.

You need to go back and learn your history man.
I appreciate the classic teams as much as the next guy, but I was also hoping for some early 2000s teams. We have loads of pre-2000 teams in the game now. Don't tell me you wouldn't want to play with VC's raptors or the 03-04 Detroit Pistons.

Oh I'm on that boat too. I just don't think the older teams should be eliminated either. One poster stated he couldn't care less about teams from the 60's, 70's and 80's, so I think we're just rebutting that.

That darn "Greatest Games" screenshot from the ios version is still leaving a glimmer of hope that perhaps there'll be a DLC with newer classics this year. I'm just a dreamer.

To a certain degree yes I wouldn't mind using those teams, but they wouldn't be at the top of my list, if there were a total of 30 classic teams from the game, I would say there should be at most 4-6 teams from the last decade, maybe even less than that. The inclusion of Allen Iverson, in my opinion, was player wise and not team wise, there was a high demand to have Iverson and one of his teams included in the game. When we start talking about early VC, it's the same thing, because people want to play with that player, rather than the team. The 01 Lakers, 01 Blazers, 04 Pistons, etc. those are more team based classic teams rather than player based.

But gosh, I love using classic teams, it's something about running with Showtime in the forum, or like VDusen said, utilizing a player like Terry Cummings with the Bucks, these guys I know nothing about, I personally would find great enjoyment playing with those teams rather than a team I possibly played with in a video game some odd years ago lol.
