I've never heard any popping before or after the patch. I need to play some more to see if they fixed the player names that I hear a lot. The Browns' number 1 pick Phil Taylor is called 'Ryan Taylor' by the commentator. Not a massive problem, but I'm going to be hearing that for a while in my franchise as he's a beast.
I made a new playbook and it's still messed up. There are a bunch of sets that I never put in there, and I didn't even get the set that I did. I put a weak twins formation and all it's plays, and it's not even there.
Did they fix the franchise Qb stats? (Low Qb Ratings, Low completion %)
I'm hoping they snuck this in, but I'm not holding my breath. Seems like something they would've mentioned in the notes. Gonna check it out once I get home.
No numbers instead of names fix...
No intro PA announcer fix...
So far as I can tell they didnt actually fix anything with the audio...
I've read, maybe in this thread, that there are names added to the PA announcing. There were at least 3 names or maybe more.
The intros I've heard if they change on the depth chart, they won't announce the new name, just the number. That happened to the Steelers. Hines Ward was the #1 receiver, now it's Mike Wallace.
The patch notes SPECIFICALLY said "fix numerous audio/commentary issue."
Soo.. what the heck are the "numerous" things fixed?
No Audio-popping fix...

No intro PA announcer fix...

Yeah, not so much! Pretty bummed about the lack of detail given to the audio. I guess they boosted crowd noise a bit, and the PA voice is slightly louder.....
Oh yeah, it doesn't rain as much! That is a good thing!
weird...I played a ton of M'11 (PS3)...NEVER heard a pop....i played abuut 5 games of M'12..heard a pop every game.....I don't play with the audio anymore.
#Unacceptable
Yeah, I never heard a pop in M11 either and I played a ton of that game. I just have to keep my sound very low when playing Madden 12, don't want any blown speakers.
This is because the top WR and/or RB changed in the depth chart. Same happened with the Steelers.
The rosters when the game shipped had Ward as the no. 1 WR in the depth chart. And both his name and Ben's were called during the intro. After the roster update, Wallace was promoted to no. 1 WR. The PA announcer started saying the generic intros. I manually changed the depth chart to make Ward no. 1 again and the announcer says their names and colleges.
Thats just flat out bad programming and shows the intro were just a gimmick to make the advertisements look like it had added all this presentation. They could have easily programmed it to say the name and the college of every player.
Nothing new to report, but I played the Chiefs at home with my Bills and there was no rain. Before the patch, it always rained. My next item to look for in this patch is better looking fields at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The parts of the field that are shaded had the black splotches...hopefully, that is cleaned up in this patch.
When you check Ralph Wilson, let us know if they changed the endzones to blue. Thanks!
People who aren't experiencing the pop, are ou using HiFi audio systems?? I think the pop is MUCH more pronounced when your sound is running through a receiver with at least 5.1 surround sound.
- Overall, the entire game seems to play better (less stuttering in games/menus, etc.)
- I've played two games so far & noticed no popping sounds (there was a plethora of them pre-update 2)
- Fields look better
- Custom playbooks are much better. No more of each formation having their own category. However, I do wish we could order the formations... like have the base defenses first then nickle, sub/dime/dollar, & quarter. It is still a little weird... it can be ordered like 3-4, 4-3, sub, goalline, special teams, quarter, 4-6, nickle, etc.

I tried creating a playbook and as I added Shotgun Formation they all ended up under the Hail Mary Formation. Have you actually tried creating a playbook?
I played a franchise game. PLaying with All-Madden custom sliders. 13 minute quarters, 45 speed threshold.
The fields look 10 times better. Now I see what everyone was flipping out about. Honestly...I did not notice it too much but now that they cleaned up the fields it looked like oil slicks pre patch.
Gameplay was a little tighter.
Audio on the field and crowd is better.
Play by play is still an abomination. I don't know what they fixed there as I heard the same mistakes and comedy that I am already used to. So much so I tune it out and lowered Gus and Chris to a measly 50 so have some background chatter without actually having to listen to it.
Audio popping is still loud and clear.
I have not tried out custom playbooks yet. And I never edited a player in my chise thus far as I did not want to trip the bug. Now that it is fixed I can start tweaking my players.
A minor patch.
Almost done with year 2 and will be going right into year three.
Which is 2 more years than I put in on Madden 11.
Overall I have never had any issues with gameplay. I am glad the game looks better, and I wish the audio popping was able to be addressed via patch (I think it is a disc/master defect).
