Is there a trick to get all the return formations to show up in a custom playbook? I started with the Bears playbook as a base and when I added shotgun formations they all went to hail mary and the only kick return I can choose is the one with 2 men deep which I don't want. I made a new one with the Saints as my base and it fixed my shotgun issue but I still can only pick one kick return formation

I have the same problem with kick returns in custom playbooks.
Overall Madden has made big strides in the gameplay since there lackluster entrance onto next gen consoles. But next year presentation should be the concern, the commentary is slacking tremendously and should be EA's primary focus. This patch brought back some life into Madden for me.
sure, work on the presentation next year but if its the main focus then thats a problem...gameplay should AlWAYS be the number 1 priority. EA has alot to get right gameplay wise, if they rest on it and just focus on presentation and other stuff....madden 13 will be another nice looking game on the exterior but a poor game under the hood.
Gameplay and presentation shouldn't be one over the other. Both should be a priority every year and on the same level. The SHOW is a prime example of great gameplay and terrible presentation. It will put u asleep after 30 minutes. EA needs to work on the fundamentals of football and TV style presentation...with a halftime show and better & more stats overlays. Every year there sales are dropping and it's because they lack the fundamentals of football and stale presentation. For a example look at MADDENS12 halftime show, pure laziness and inexcusable after untold cries from the community and almost 8 years on the next-gen consoles.
Ok a few things. The Show put you to sleep? Well that's your thought. As a baseball junkie I could not disagree with you anymore. However the play by play and commentary could use some more work but it is still very solid.
As far as Madden 12's presentation. It is hit and miss. Camera panning and all the new angles for cut scenes are off the hook. Very well done indeed. We all know the play by play/color commentary issues. Awful and they have acknowledged they are overhauling this area of the game. So my expectation is sky high for 13 with dynamic play by play and commentary like the The Show and NBA 2K series.
The stat swipes were improved in Madden 12. For example when the QB's run onto the field....very nice touch. The arguments with ref's, the consistent updates of position player stats throughout the game like RB's, WR's and defensive stats are solid.
Halftime. Well while I fully agree this years halftime was a joke and reeked of "we did not pay attention to this aspect" I don't need a massive show. Something like 2K's halftime would be just fine. Give the team stat's, point out a couple of key players for each team and show a short and sweet highlight reel while talking about it.
Where I think the biggest area of opportunity is for Madden 13 is though is in the franchise hub. I want it to feel alive. When you go to The Show's or NBA 2K's hubs they have lot's of life. I feel like I am part of the MLB or the Association. And what really needs to be implemented is a true to life weekly franchise wrap up show. The Extra Point was a start that was never built upon. Instead it was exactly the same in Madden 11 and then scraped. I truly hope they can get this right like another game did some 8 years ago. That is a nice standard to look at and try to emulate in that regard.
On the field I am very pleased with Madden 12. I just hope they keep a lot of the nice improvements they made this year and just keep adding. Keep DPP, streaks, expanded rosters, the free agency system, the scouting system.
Enhance the Draft presentation and weekly show for franchise and rebuild the franchise hub and play by play presentation.
I think Madden 13 has a on of potential to build on the nice strides made in Madden 12.
