If you don't then why even play the game? Why even tally up all the points in a game? I think that the greatest record of all time says it all.

72-10

Yeah, because I don't really think the '87 Lakers or the '86 Celtics could beat the '96 Bulls, I'm just saying that to be a *****, I got all the reasons in the World to hate

What about the playoffs?!?!? 72-10 is phenomenal! 82-0 would be unbelievable. But what if they went 82-0 and got swept in the first round of the playoffs? Would you still think that a 72 win regular season would make them the best team ever??????? I truely hope not

no doubt that the '96 bulls are the best regular season team in history,,, 72-10 is a feat no other team will top.............but the best post season team is the '01 lakers........16-1 is the best post season ever played by any team ever...........SWEPT THE BLAZERS IN 1ST ROUND,,, SWEPT THE SPURS AND DUNCAN IN 2ND ROUND,,,,,SWEPT THE KINGS AND WEBBER IN CONF. FINALS.........AND IT TOOK A 48 POINT PERFORMANCE BY IVERSON AND SIXERS TO BEAT LA IN OVERTIME IN GAME 1 OF FINALS.........BUT WERE ALSO BEATEN 4 STRAIGHT AFTER THAT...

I honestly thought when he said "What? you think theres someone else?" he was gonna continue with "Well youre a *******"
Anyway I think the 72 win Bulls are the best. The most wins in the regular season and an NBA championship is hard to argue against.

The regular season and the playoffs are TWO totally different beasts. But answer this. If a team went 72-10 in the REGULAR season ('95-96 Bulls), BUT lost in the playoffs and didnt win that championship, would you still consider them the greatest team ever?!.....answer = NO.......case in point from NFL: look at the 2007 New England Patriots

jordan already said it the 96 bulls that won the 72 games mein was that team hard to beat that was an 87% winning season, only lost two home games 8 road games(most road games won in nba history) and lost no home playoff games n only 3 on the road...so all in all they only lost 13 games for an entire year of basketball which is the best combined regular and post season record in nba history,Only team in NBA history to lose consecutive games only once, undefeated for the entire month of january........need i say more maybe i should try get the commercial spot lol

yea that is because the laws of probability played out...this is one game to championships which never really makes the better team advance just the team that is currently having the better game..... best out of 7 should filter the better team

You guys can write about the laws of probability or whatever but you all still havent answered the question. If a team went 72-10 in the regular season and did NOT win the championship, would you consider them the best team ever???....The answer is NO because as Americans we only want to associate ourselves with champions. (thats a good AND a bad thing in my book) Im not trying to get all philosophical here, im just saying.....

I guess we all may look at this question differently. Personally, i perceive the title of "best team ever" as the team i would NEVER want to face if my life were on the line. Doesnt matter if its 1, 3,5 or 7 game playoff. The 61-62 Celtics, 66-67 76ers, 69-70 Knicks, 70-71 Bucks, 76-77 Blazers, 82-83 76ers, 85-86 Celtics, 86-87 Lakers, 95-96 Bulls, 02-03 Spurs, and 08-09 Lakers were all GREAT, FANTASTIC, REMARKABLE teams. But in my book, the one team i wouldnt want to play EVER is the 2000-2001 LA Lakers. I stated my reason in an previous post......

the 72 win bulls team vs 2000s lakers would be a good match up and 2000s lakers vs the new heat would be a good match up. i think kobe shaq fish and fox would destroy the big 3

The thing about the '96 Bulls was their perimeter defense. Jordan himself didn't really have that great of a Finals that year, but defensively, they took NO nights off, which is extremely hard to do. MJ, Pippen & Rodman all made the First Defensive Team, the first and I think last time that's ever happened. Dennis grabbed 11 offensive rebounds TWICE in just the Finals series itself, which is just ridiculous. And with the lack of premier perimeter talent during that time, in terms of athletic ability, it was almost impossible to get a good shot off.

That same focus was only somewhat repeated by what the '01 Lakers did in the postseason, albeit after coasting throughout the whole regular season lol. That team, when engaged, was completely unstoppable. Shaq was dominating "big" men who didn't have the size to really compete, while Kobe, at his most relentless, came with the offensive onslaught & constant defensive pressure from the perimeter. Add in defensive minded players like Fox, Grant, Lue & Harper, and it's easy to see why they swept just about everyone they faced. This team vs the '96 Bulls would be a titanic clash
