Don't worry, I don't need your pity. I've got far greater things to deal with in life than whether or not someone is too shallow to accept how I get my own personal enjoyment.

Guys, Criticize the game all you want, but we will not allow anyone to go after other OSers.

Anyone else quickly losing interest in this game? I was busy the last week of August and first week of September, then checked back in this week almost in shock to see the patch still hasn't dropped. Today is the opening of week 2 in college football and nearly 2 full months past release. Sorry, but I don't care about the 'patch is in the hands of Sony/Microsoft' crap. The FACT is the patch is NOT in the hands of paying customers. It's getting to the point where the patch could drop and I wouldn't really even care anymore. I get the impression I'm not alone in this growing apathy.

If this was just a patch to fix a few nagging problems, that would be one thing. But this patch is addressing what the OS community has classified as major issues. And to beat the dead horse one more time, how did this get through testing? These are game on the shelf problems unless you don't care about little things and just want to play some casual football against the CPU to get your fix. And making minor tweaks to the same game every year with no significant engine improvements is getting old too, but that's for another discussion.

OK, done venting. Normally it is pretty tough to upset me to this level as a consumer, but I've had it. Another 60 bucks dropped for a game I've probably played 5 hours or less since release. Who am I really mad at? Myself for falling for the hype machine again and buying the game on release week. I highly doubt enough people will not buy on release week to make EA notice in the future, but I can speak for myself in that the lesson has finally been learned. Better late than never I suppose.

The same reason that people praise other games. The same reason people discuss features. The same reason people hype upcoming games. THIS IS A MESSAGE BOARD. IT. IS. FOR. MESSAGES. Not everything that is said and done here needs to effect change. In fact, practically nothing does. It's for discussion about the game.

Hope that helps.

This is a very good point. Codemasters the devs in charge of the official Formula One game have a former F1 driver and test driver on their dev team. Last year's game was their first and it was far from perfect, but the series is in good hands and the advantage of having a former driver actually on the dev team is never understated by Codemasters. EA Tiburon would do well to follow this approach.

Yeah, that right there is the most disheartening evidence I've seen yet to the problems with this generation of football games. If ratings do not matter at all with the lines, what's the point? We might as well be playing NCAA Street.

If you can play this game, w/ all these issues, and still enjoy it... well, I don't know what to say. Your level of expectation is far below mine and others.

And to add to my post earlier... here are other issues w/ the game, which is probably pointless to post since EA will not do a damn thing about it.
I'm curious as to why you bought this year's game when all of the issues you've laid out have been present in EA football games for the entirety of their existence?

I understand the disappointment with the new features, and I agree that it is insane that none of them seem to work right for many, many people. Fortunately, my custom playbook does work (I guess I have enough plays/formations) and I haven't experienced any in-game freezing with my offline dynasty (knock on wood).

But the actual gameplay issues you've been outlining have been present in every EA football game. If you can't stand the way the game plays, why did you buy it?

I'm personally enjoying the game. I'm frustrated that one of my ODs is stalled out because of the transfer failed errors, but I can continue my offline dynasty, which I always have more fun with anyway. Like I said, I luckily haven't experienced the game-breaking issues that others have, but I also accept the limitations of the game when it comes to how it handles the on-the-field stuff.

You say that EA caters to people "like you" and I can only assume you mean people who accept the game's flaws, like myself. However, what does that say about someone like yourself who seems to despise how the game plays (and I say again, this game has played this way for the last 10 years) yet you bought it anyway?

I'm truly curious as to what the mindset of someone like yourself is, and why you bought the game if you see so many problems with it that have been in the game for years.

that sounds great, but I have 4 offline dynasties that I got to the end of the year and couldn't get to the offseason. The last one I started with a friend in late August thinking I'd get the patch before the dynasty year ended. Again I got to the end and it couldn't advance no patch... this game is basically broken for me. I bought it for all the new features and I can't use custom playbook, I can't get to the coaching carousel and I can do RTG which I thought they did OK updates for. But I'm very limited in what I can do and completely dependant on EA to help me get to the offseason in 1 of my dynasties.

That's why I said I understood other people's frustrations with the game. Again, I understand that many of the new features, and old features, either do not work all together, or do not work to their liking. I get that, but that's not what my post was about at all.

I'm sorry that the game does not work for you. However, it is working for me and I hope that it continues to work.

Two simple reasons... I was in contact w/ people who were visiting EA regularly during the making of this game and was hoping... I don't want to say I was led to believe, but I was hoping that many of these issues were being addressed and taken care of.

I know one of the things I mentioned was brought up and when the person who was at EA learned they once again did not include it, he was as mystified and distraught as I.

So that was one reason... hope that things were changing. The other reason is because I L-O-V-E college football. I am extremely passionate about it and it's been a while since I've coached so this is like my only way to get my fix, if you will.

FWIW... I didn't buy 09 or 10... it wasn't until last year that I tested the waters again. When I saw them promoting Season Showdown back in 2009... for NCAA '10... I was beyond shocked. And I said... no thanks.

And now this year... w/ every new feature having massive problems... or to clarify, so I don't step on anyone's toes... every new feature that has had massive problems in MY gaming experience... and the complete lack of respect and/or caring on EA's behalf while this atrocity drags on, has led me to the conclusion that I will not be buying into the hype which will begin next March and I certainly won't be buying the game either.

What you don't know, and it's not your fault, but over the past few years I have sent EA countless e-mails/letters, etc... begging them to let me help them, because some of the stuff in their game is so not right. When they bragged about having the Run & Shoot offense in last year that really grabbed me, because the R&S is a passion of mine.

Then the game releases and they have 3 total R&S plays and the rest of the playbook were plays that have been in EA games for years. I immediately e-mailed them and detailed the wealth of information I have on this offense, including 3 Mouse Davis playbooks, a June Jones/Hawaii playbook, plus tons of games on DVD and coaches cut-ups and that I could really help them get this offense properly implemented... what did they do?

Nothing. Not even a "Thank you, but no thanks."

It's just frustrating to have such a passion for something, to see it treated like garbage, to offer to help them make it better... and I didn't even ask for anything in return, mind you... and to just repeatedly get ignored... after a while that frustration just builds and like a volcano, it has to come out.

And I am not trying to blow my own horn, but there are plenty of folks here, at UTOPIA and TGT who I have helped get a better grasp on passing concepts and reading defenses, so it's not like EA couldn't do just a little homework and see that yeah, this guy knows what he's talking about.

I believe I have finally given up. They want to say they have the R&S in the game when it's not... fine. They want to have all the other crap previously mentioned... fine. At this point, they are making it really difficult for me to care anymore.

That's understandable. I'm not a football guru by any means, but I do know the game a bit. While there are things that I am disappointed with about the game, I try to keep in mind that it is a video game. EA can absolutely do a better job representing the sport, but I recognize the game for what it is and enjoy it the best I can.

Again, I've been fortunate that I haven't run into the truly game-breaking issues that others have, but as for the gameplay I've grown to accept EA's engine is what it is. I'm hoping the patch fixes everything, without messing up too much else, and I can play this game into next summer. As of now, I'm not planning on getting '13 unless they completely blow me away. And even then, I'm going to wait at least a month to see if it truly works right.

yeah, currently both have upwards of 80 used copies, my friend said they've actually had more traded in than they sold brand new.
