Madden 12 News Post

Contentious, heated, excitable. Whatever buzzword I use, it probably can't properly sum up the way things get around here once the Madden demo hits each year. It truly is exciting and terrifying all at once. The staff has been playing the demo like all you folks out there, and they have a wide range of views on the game.

So read on to find out what some of our writers think about the Madden 12 demo at this point.

There is no right or wrong answer for something subjective. I might think Madden 09 suprassed 2k5. I wouldn't be right or wrong, it's purely opinion.

That's a concept people like you will never get, and it's what's killing this forum.

Don't feed the troll.

Guys who spout this kind of stuff, and magically appear on Madden release or Demo Release day are here for one reason. To start fanboy wars. Ignore him and move on.

I don't live in the past ..

What I have in front of me is Madden 12, and I really enjoy it .. no it isn't without it's problems but we will never get a 100% replica of what happens on Sundays .. no matter the company ..

2. No, what's killing this forum is the free pass and benefit of the doubt EA gets on everything. What's killing this forum is the mob mentality around here that saying these games are anything but garbage is a lie and is frowned upon. Stuff like that is killing this forum.

Thank you for proving my point. This kind of ignorance is what kills the forum. People who can't differentiate between their opinion and a fact. People with lame agenda's.

Thats it in a nutshell....

EA has finally brought back the old school Madden level of fun.... and while Im going to enjoy it for the most part, its still 2011 and we should have more

I just hope the game isn't littered with Bugs/Glitches....

If we can't have truly innovative animations, physics, commentary, ect.....then you damm well better make sure what we do get runs relatively smooth

No more of this Wait until the Patch in Nov/Dec for a decently functional title business

Lol @ 2. There seems to be a split among users on this game, hell, at the roundtable some of the writers were really brutal in their impressions. You couldnt be more off base if you tried.

He doesn't know any better. He's not aware that opinions may differ from his own and they are simply that, opinions.

Maybe he will learn the agreeing to disagree is OK, in the long run it provides much needed perspective.

Wow this thread got derailed quickly.

Maybe it's because I didn't really play Madden 11 that much, but this years demo felt really good to me. There are a few things that could use tweaking but the game looks like it will be solid come 8/30. However I will still be waiting at least a week to buy it after buying the buggy mess that is NCAA 12 week 1 and regretting it.

Agreed, and I'm still playing Madden 11 even now after I got the demo (only because I've become so entrenched in my franchise despite the bare bones mode that it was lol). Madden 12's gameplay is much better though.

Alright, time to get back on topic. Next person who mentions NFL 2K5 gets traded to IGN.

I think it's funny that 68% of people voted on the poll that the demo was either good or great, and yet almost all of the comments I've read about it from others give off the smell of average at best and mostly bad.

It's a given that unhappy people are going to be the most vocal about their feelings. Some of it is about Madden 12 specifically, and some of it is about their legacy anger toward the franchise.

I heard they would only give OS the stick of gum if we took JaMarcus Russell as well. That's why you're still here.

I don't see super DBs in this. Certainly not to the level of NCAA

Personally I think the demo is good. But compared to what? While I think the demo is good, I also think the game easily has the worst animations of any major sports game. We're going another year where there hasn't been a single significant gameplay contribution from Madden football; perhaps DPP will but I didn't notice anything too great in the demo. It all seems more about building on top of what most people acknowledge is a flawed base, fixing past issues. The system of player movement and interaction is improved in places (tackling), poor in others (OL/DL interaction). A lot of the appeal comes from the license; not sure we'd have people saying the engine's very enjoyable if the game were lacking the license.

Two points that stuck out to me in the roundtable are that Madden doesn't appear to have an identity and that it's probably time to blow it up and start from scratch. It may not be practical to do a MVP-like redo in this age, but I think most people would love to see it happen.

I think the Madden 12 demo is great so I really don't know where all the hate is coming from, but to each their own. I'm a huge NCAA Football player and always enjoy that game more, but the Madden 12 demo puts NCAA 12 to shame.

# 59 PVarck31 @ 08/11/11 12:46 AM
I'm fascinated by the comments about the E3 build being a marked improvement over the demo build. I really hope we get that version in the retail copy. Especially because I really like the demo.

# 60 jyoung @ 08/11/11 01:10 AM
I think the retail version of Madden 12 will be a lot better than the demo ala NCAA 12. At least, I hope that's what happens. I'm already bored and disappointed with the Madden demo.

Back to enjoying NCAA 12.
