NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

I haven't played it in weeks either.

Once Madden comes out it may be a while before I pick up NCAA again.

Oh well, they got my $$$$$. Next year I'm waiting, for sure.

Isnt there a way that EA can tell how much ppl are playing the game? Like doesnt it update to their server everytime we play?

I havent touched mine literally in almost a month, I cant imagine other ppl are playing as often either. It should show up on EA's end...IF they care.

I'm not going to say this game is perfect by any means, but I think most people that bitch here can give it up for awhile. I think the point has been made. This forum is starting to resemble a group of whinny girls.

You wanna make a bet? It's not gonna happen! Until EA Sports proves something to me with NCAA 13 or whenever I'm not buying this game again. This was my last time buying this game on release date. You can bank on that!

No offense lange but that's such a strawman argument. The game isn't perfect? Stop whining?

That's like saying a drunk driver who plowed into someones house isn't perfect and "at least he wasn't also high on heroine while driving!".

We want to hold EA accountable and keep them aware that we're not thrilled with the way they've botched this product. This games #1 selling feature for me and many like me is totally ruined and needs patching, which hasn't come out yet. It's almost September. This is entirely unacceptable and I think I could go without people making excuses for EA.

I fully get your point that a b*tchfest isn't the best thing ever but... what do you expect? Honestly? People lined up to get htis game, tried to get the game early thru almost any means necessary and waited for this game with baited breath for weeks; and we get this mess.

So no sir I don't accept your post. Let the masses speak so long as it's not profanity riddled tirades.

Honestly I don't care if you don't like what I have to say. BUT nothing anyone brings up here is original nor going to get anything done. Bobolini has it right. When you bought this version did you really think it was going to be everything you thought it was going to be. The saddest part is its pretty fun game in it's own right, and like I said not perfect, but it's not something I don't regret playing. I knew what I was getting into when I went to go buy this game.

If it doesn't pass MS or Sony's watch....it could be awhile (although I don't anticipate that)

Of course I'm just speculating as I have no expertise in this whole thing.
Unfortunately, they have to thoroughly test the patch out to ensure that it will not crash your game and/or your system. It can be a frustrating process, but it is necessary and time consuming. I am not making excuses for anyone, but it is what it is when it comes to patching a game. In my best experiences it usually takes 2-3 weeks before a patch is certified by Microsoft.

Also keep in mind that even the smallest of fixes can actually cause major issues. In other words, say you add a fix for a minor animation(for example), it is very possible that the animation, when triggered can cause 10 other issues to occur with some of them being major(ie game crashing). Last year the first patch resulted in another major glitch. Remember the pump-fake glitch?!?

BTW, I am just as anxious as the rest of you to recieve these patches.... I assure you that it's not as cut and dry as it may seem. Now let's all hope that the new patch passes submission as soon as possible.

The BLOG about the patch was released on August 2nd. At no time was it mentioned that this patch would cure the problems that are now ailing many dynasty participants. The dreaded "Transfer failed" or "Dynasty Servers not available." Now could these problems be fixed on their server. Maybe. But why the delay?

If it's true (according to NCAAstrategies) that the patch is "finally" complete and has been submitted to Microsoft and Sony for approval... it could be another 2-3 weeks of waiting.

So, How Long Do Sony And Microsoft’s Approvals Processes Take?

You'll see it mentioned all the time when talk of game delays or patches comes up. "Oh, we're just waiting on the approvals process", or "we're just waiting for the patch to be certified, then we're good to go". Those kind of excuses/explanations sound great from the developers end, but to us? It's meaningless, because we have no idea how long those processes take. Or, we didn't. We have at least some idea now, thanks to the always-helpful "Ask Capcom" letters section the company runs every week.

Capcom fanboy Ryu vs Ken asks "How long does the approval process usually take?". Seeing as he's asking about SSFIIHD, it's probable this explanation covers only downloadable games, but the answer is interesting nonetheless:

Depends on the territory and the time of year/how busy the submissions team is. It also depends on territories.

SCEA and MS can turn things around in 5-7 days most times. SCEE is closer to two weeks but they have a system where you can see the progress and bugs as they're testing (which means, you can anticipate your pass or fail and potentially be ready to have a resubmission ready to go when you fail). That said, you generally want to get reports from SCEA and SCEE, fix all issues and resubmit to both at the same time so it's not always such a benefit easy. SCAsia is a bit easier on the submission side as their evaluation focuses mostly on the material submisisons, not on code approval (provided you have code approval from SCEA or SCEE).

See? Interesting! Now the next time someone says "oh, the game will be available as soon as it's been approved", you've got a rough idea of how long you've got to wait.

Oh, so you knew u were getting a product that didnt work properly? Yet you still gladly plopped down sixty bucks anyway?

That's your prerogative but I happen to think that's a bit crazy.

No. I don't believe this game is a waste. I already said this. However I know how this process is going to be, anyone that's been here for an EA game over the course of the last few years shouldn't be shocked? All I was getting at is it's redundant complaining, I think people get worked up and miss the part about just playing a game. By the way I'm not personally attacking anyone so I don't want anyone to be offended, but if you look at most threads here its almost all the same.

I'm jus messin man...it's been overstated how much fixing this game needs....while the majority of the posters on here won't buy the game, there will be people who will love this game no matter what

Might be right now. My game just disconnected from XBL for an update!

Update: I know the profanity filter check was in the title update. Tried to make my coach whos' last name was a "profane word". No dice.

Not sure what was actually in this small download (4 MB)

Keep us posted, but there's been nothing on PSN and the servers are still up.

Wonder what a 4 MB patch would be...

Nothing on the PS3.

This tread has nothing to do with detail of the upcoming patch. It has become a troll fest. I guess that's thewayitis, when it comes to EA. What blows my mind is when people say, "I will never buy NCAA 13.". Then they follow it up with, "I will never buy it on release day!" how to stick to your guns.

Some of the biggest EA haters on on the prowl to get Madden early. I don't get it. Do they want it early to complain about EA some more? If you don't like it, don't buy it!

Please lock this thread until some REAL info comes out!

Don't get your hopes up. I've now had to restart my console 4 times because every time I start my game in OD, I crash at the loading screen.

/time to go reset cache and junk again. I'm hoping the 4MB download was just when I reset the cache to alleviate my last set of crashes.

//sigh

The quick update was caused when I reset my cache (just did it again). False alarm, I guess. Sorry to sound the alarm!

Edit: 7 crashes in a row now. Time to give up.
